Only one out of the 25 woman squad plays for the Nigerian league, and she's even the 3rd choice goalkeeper so there's a possibility she might not touch the ball throughout the entire tournament.

Is the Nigerian league that bad that you can't even get up to 5 players out of 25 to represent the country in an African tournament, or is it just the preference of the coach for foreign players over the local ones?

It's not real.

There are people that have created fake Facebook accounts of Super Falcons players in order to make money. They post fake and controversial things that would get views in order to make money from Facebook.

I can't understand why some journalists do not verify whether these accounts are genuine, but they publish these false stories and the players often have to publicly denounce the accounts.

It has happened to Oshoala, Alozie and Plumptre.

Ashleigh Plumptre has previously stated that she is not on Facebook and that the account is fake.

The reason why Ashleigh is not going to WAFCON is because she is injured. She was hoping that she would recover on time, but it didn't happen. That's why she wrote that the mind is willing but the body says no.

It's not fake

she wasn't called up

She was never going to be called up again

There's corruption in the NFF

Person say she dey injured, you still dey insist on agenda. Are you folks unstable?
The first person that asked genuinely wanted to know, but the others are people that come to my threads to try and derail it with negativity.

She said (in a video) that the Facebook account is not hers, she tweeted (via her verified and known Twitter account) that she never said those things, the captain (Rasheedat) also tweeted that the account is fake, but they are insisting that it is real. How can anybody take them seriously?

what do you mean no competition, if the men are better why have they not proven themselves in competitions to lift a title. Women football generally is like that everywhere, less media, less boost, so people think the competition is not high. At least they dominate Africa!

Under 17 world cup = 5 times won by Nigeria boys.
Under 20 world cup = 2 silver and a bronze Nigeria boys.
Olympics = 1 gold and 1 silver Nigeria boys.
When will the girls get to this high internationally and not only in Africa?

Kalulu44:
Now I have seen someone to engage on this.
See, I have been following Super Falcons from the early 90s where majority of our players are home based. And they were doing well in the Wafcon and occasionally shinning at the world cup. (Got to the quarter final in 1999).
But they were always beating heavily by the more exposed and experience European teams.
Then from early 2010s till now 80 to 90% of our players started moving abroad.
Infact majority of the tournament our Falcons have participated in the last 15yrs has been by 90% foreign based players.
.
So I therefore ask, after joining their European counterparts in playing for different clubsides abroad and learning what they too have learnt. Why are they still struggling to reciprocate that in the national team.
Other than to use it against their less fancied and inexperience African opponents.
Unfortunately, most of the African teams like SA and Morocco are now catching up and even doing better somehow.
.
So my guy, I won't lie to you. I am tired of seeing Super Falcons dominate Africa.
I want them to shake the world too. They should start by getting to the semis of Olympics and world cups, then we'll start having hope of them winning it.
You can see the current squad are 99% foreign based, so what's holding them back?

Continue enjoying their regional dominant, why they continue to fumble internationally

I lost track of my response when I left Nairaland page temporarily and it was too detailed to start typing all over again.
Bottom line, we are not in the same footing with these Europeans, US and the Japanese and maybe South Korea.
Yes , our girls our playing in US , Europe Mexico And Saudi but are they really the dominant forces on their teams!
Secondly, we are nothing to write home about in terms of organisation and logistics. Inadequate kits , lateness in arrivals if kits and other training materials, deficiency in the technical department and Bench.
For example, the girls would be made to share rooms while the administrators enjoy suites and frolic around.
Thirdly, the development of the game at national, sub-national and the grassroots coupled with exposure to technical know-how is massive hindrance. Is the quality of our league acceptable?
So how do we expect them to perform magic if they cannot even produce 30 percent of players for international competitions. Nigeria doesn't even go far in CAF women clubs competitions, so they tells you a lot about the state we are in.
I am not saying we should be contented playing local champions but their are several mitigating factors to our moving to the next level.

Yes the league is very bad, the women league in Nigeria are not even playing in women CAF competition and I would not even ask any of the young aspiring football lady today to pay in the female league

African teams are international, all teams outside Nigeria are international... The teams you're talking about are intercontinental. Learn and stop being arrogantly foolish.

Yeah they did, but I doubt they used male players. Maybe just a strong testoterone female gene.
To think they have won the Wafcon and Ghana who started with Super Falcons back in the days are yet to win one
