Nigerians always trying to afford everything when doing business. Loan, credit, hire purchase.. these are the tools they need to use to buy the vehicle. They should be more concerned about getting favorable loans, they should instead plead for government intervention to get them these car on hire purchase but no.: they are protesting a policy that will move the sector forward. Typical Nigerian mentality. They always like the way things are so they can complain, curse and be mad at everyone around them.
Doing business with loan is more productive than doing business with personal capital. All you need is just a fraction of your capital while the major source should be loan and watch the business boom.
Do you know the rate for consumer loans in Nigeria??

Taking a loan to buy car for transport business in Nigeria is like sticking your own neck inside a noose!

And no, this policy is not going to move the sector anywhere, rather Keyamo is in the process of creating a monopoly to run airport taxi biz in Lagos or wherever else he puts the system in place.

What he is doing is called 'jobbery' am spelling it out for the benefit of people like you who ignorantly support every evil policy that greedy APC rolls out to further enslave hapless Nigerians..

I support this even though this is the most useless government in Nigeria's history.

You do not need 18 million naira to buy a 2020 model year car. Apply common sense.

Why can't Faan purchase this cars and give it to the cab drivers to be paid back installmentally

Tinubu should stop forcing his hardship policies on Nigerians
If if they do so it will still be by connection before you can have access or possession to any so it's definitely of no use.

FAAN can reduce the year to maybe 2016 models because Majority of them might not be able to afford it if they insist on 2020 car model

But the drivers also have other options
it's 2012 not 2020

Reduce the ridiculous import duty on cars as we don't have the capacity to manufacture them. This main reason why cars are priced unreasonably besides dealer greed.

Abi o, don't mind the yeye drivers.

Don't they know of the akara option from the Lagos landlady who has elevated her wicked ways to Aso Rock?
As long as they generate enough taxes for her and her husband's luxury lifestyle, any option to work hard is fine.

BeeBeeOoh:
The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerian youths to be hard-working, saying, “There is no food for lazy man.”

Mrs Tinubu said this during a courtesy visit to the palace of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Thursday.

She noted that while the Tinubu-led administration is working hard to provide sustainable solutions to the current challenges facing the country, Nigerians should also work hard to provide for themselves.

The first lady maintained that the government will do all it takes to ensure that Nigerians are not disappointed and called for patience with Tinubu’s administration.

Mrs Tinubu said: “There is no food for the lazy man; even God worked for six days and rested on the seventh day.

“Nigeria is a land that’s flowing with milk and honey, but we need to sustain it for generations to come.

“God has richly blessed my family before getting to the presidency and we are content with what we have.

“What is happening in the country, we are just two years into our administration, we are not the cause of the current situation. We are trying to fix and secure the future.

“I have embarked on several journeys but it seems that people are not seeing what God is doing in the land. Nations across the globe want to do business with us, legally, on the table. There is a government in power now that they know it is accountable.

“We are trying all our efforts to ensure that the economy is stabilised and the masses are living meaningful lives since the removal of fuel subsidy.”

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s first supplementary budget includes a fleet of SUVs for himself and his wife, a presidential yacht and the renovation of his villa amid a cost-of-living crisis for some of the poorest people in the world.

The proposal — which seeks additional funding beyond the annual budget approved by Tinubu’s predecessor — comes as the government asks Nigerians to persevere through pain caused in part by a raft of economic reforms ushered in by the new president. Africa’s most populous country faces rampant unemployment, soaring food prices and a plummeting currency.

Federal lawmakers approved the president’s request for extra spending on Thursday, but eliminated the provision of 5 billion naira ($6.01 million) to buy a presidential yacht. Instead, they doubled the allocation to a student loan fund to 10 billion naira, according Abubakar Bichi, chairman of an appropriations committee in the House of Representatives.

The lawmakers approved 1.5 billion-naira proposed to purchase SUVs for the office of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu — an amount larger than that allocated to many individual federal colleges. The supplementary budget also proposes almost 6 billion naira to purchase SUVs for the presidency — more than the amount initially allocated to fund a student loan program for poor families.

This government isn’t sensitive to what is going on in the economy. N18m might seem small to them but the average man hasn’t been impacted by the reform. People are still earning 100k - 300k in an economy where electricity is N250/kWh, fuel 1150 per liter, food is expensive and every other thing has tripled in price.

Then again the cab men were exploiting people even with their old cars and expect Nigerians to fight for them. I remember when I landed at the airport with big bags and needed to get to a nearby hotel that was a walking distance from the airport, these guys charged me 20k last. If not for my bags I would have walked it. Very mean guys.

This is called racketeering, someone wants to take control of airport taxis over there, do they bar owners of old vehicles from bringing their loved ones to the airport.

This is just a strategy to monopolize the Ikeja airport transportation, this is what happens when you have criminals in power.

1st they come up with mandatory registration, then minimum vehicle requirements all designed to favor an individual. Very soon they will ban keke buses, just like they banned motorcylces, all these crminal intentions inflate transportation prices and punish airport passengers.

THis is why you see some airport passengers trekking outside the airport with their luggage because the faires are ridiculous.

How can someone spend 300k for a flight, no food onboard, get humuliated at the airport terminals by thugs masquarading as airport officials, then is asked to cough out N150k for a taxi?

Its ridiculous.
