She should fight for her right, she's a South African citizen by birth and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

I swear jealousy will kee those lazy xenophobic black South Africans.
Let her rest abeg. You only fight for your right when you are alive.

Thou Nigeria is Failed state, I'll advise you to come back home, it's better to return vertically than being brought home horizontally.
Come to Nigeria to do what? Who does she know here?
How will she survive here knowing full well that she does not know her way around Nigeria?

What ever the outcome of this case, she is not safe, as many of them don’t want her. Best bet, move out to other country if she don’t want to come to Nigeria. How long will she continue this

There are often putrid opinions that serve better use sitting in the cranium of the bearer.

You think it's easy to suddenly wake up and adjust your entire existence to another society after practically spending your entire first three decades of life growing up in and calling another place home?

If her attempt at seeking legal redress in SA subsequently fails, she's wholely welcome to settle in Nigeria. She'll always be embraced by her maternal roots, irrespective of her mother's alleged misgivings. Whether that sickens you or anyone else, is the internalized bitterness you'll have to live with.

It's almost always a woman hanging out other women to dry😵‍💫.
I am shocked at her comment.very strange of her

.
But that is exactly what her parents did (illegally), they left their home and moved to a foreign land chasing riches and now their daughter has gotten too comfortable and refusing to use the talents of her parents move elsewhere

Nonsense! Why did she agree to contest as Nigerian when she does not identify as one? Where is her Nigerian father? Where is he from? Her identity forger of a mum decided to give her Nigerian names for reasons best known to her and gullible Nigerians rushed to claim her.

Abeg comot her here with that gender bs card you want to pull. I'm not like you men that would rather twist facts and make men appear the victim. For me, what is wrong is wrong regardless the gender
Keep it up, he's trying to play the conformity card on you.
Make you fall in line with the hoard of crowds who act without reasoning..

They use all tricks in their sleeves from Race, Tribe, Gender, Religion, Culture, Color to always drive their hidden motives..

That is what they do once they lack the wit to manipulate truth in their favour, especially when they meet an objective, critical & a clear thinking person..

You don't know South Africans. Nigeria is only bad because of terrorism that is going on in the north, you see black South Africans? They are worse than wild animals.

By South African laws, she's not and can never be A South African. Have knowledge before arguing what you know nothing about
Isn't this a discussion forum? What does the law say that prevents her from being South African? If you can't say then you should be quiet and not engage.... making headlines with no details to follow up.

Why is this lady so determined to reman in a country that doesn't like her and her roots? What's so special about SA that she is finding it so difficult to relocate to a saner country? Even if she wins this case there's still no guarantees for her safety on the streets of SA where those xenophobic killers can easily hurt her due to envy. Nigerians that fought and stood for her to be famous will now be regretting all their efforts and feeling it's all a total waste.

Yeah it's a discussion forum alright, but you didn't discuss it previously but rather concluded that she would win in court like you're the judge. So go ahead and educate yourself about the requirements for citizenship by birth in SA cos I won't do that for you undecided

That girl doesn't feel connected to Nigeria. Nigeria has done its best for her.

If she keeps foooling herself, Nigeria should also reject her. How can one person be dumb and stupid at the same time?

With a stolen citizen document her mother used to register herself in the hospital before giving birth to her i really doubt if the south african courts will affirm that she is really a south african.

I totally blame Nigerians for embracing this intruder and giving her a platform to contest in the miss universe pageant. She collected the runner-up crown and ran back to her country. Her Nigerian lineage is not clear, we don't know anything about her supposed Nigerian father but we know she has a Mozambican mother who forges identities for a living. She's as much as a scam artist as her mother, I hope she's deported to Mozambique not Nigeria.

She's an ingrate. When she was rejected, her own country (Nigeria) accepted her, and she was crowned. But, only for her to return to South Africa where no one wants to accept her, and she's pulling her weight by going to court to waste money because she wants to force herself to remain there because of her mum. She's looking for trouble. The lawyer pushing her knows what he or she is doing. When she goes broke, she will now remember Nigeria. No wisdom in her. She don see better country wey she wan die there. Covetousness is not good.
Those South Africans are not joking with their decision. She should nót waste her money on futulity

The way you guys reason in this country sometimes just dey weak me.
Some of you just make these simple conclusions on very tricky topics that can be frustratinly naive and counterproductive. Whats more? You take these unrehearsed positions, and all of a sudden you are pontificating on issues so ignorantly yet so loudly.
It can be emberassing sometimes...

She was born there. I mean as in her mama born her there.
The South South African rule is that if you were born there, you are a citizen. That's how that guy born to a Nigerian father ended up playing for them at the world cup.
She studied there, gave birth to a child there, started businesses there, made friends there and had investments there...

So she should just leave all those and come to your house because a section of the negrophobic South Africans population wants her to leave!?!?! The law says somethings about South Africans citizenship. Let her test those stipulations in court. If they say she should go, then she should find a place to go to. Bit she has a duty to legally establish the facts..

Leepeak:
If I was born in south Africa, as a Nigeria I am aa citize of south Africa their law

No be automatically so, my brother! Under South Africa law, you no be South Africa citizen just because say dem born you for there.

South Africa citizenship law no dey work like America where anyone dem born for their ground automatically becomes a citizen (jus soli). South Africa dey use what dem dey call jus sanguinis (citizenship by blood) plus some strict rules.

How E Dey Work Under South Africa Law
1. The General Rule (Citizenship by Birth)
For you to be South Africa citizen by birth, at least one of your parents must be a South Africa citizen or a Permanent Resident (PR) at the time dem born you.

If your Papa and Mama na full Nigerians (meaning non of dem carry South Africa citizenship or PR when dem born you): You NO BE South Africa citizen by birth.

Dem go treat you as a foreign national who was simply born on South Africa soil.

2. The Special Exception (When You Turn 18)
There is one special path inside their Citizenship Amendment Act:

If dem born you for South Africa,

Your parents no be citizens or PR holders when dem born you,

AND you come live inside South Africa continuously from the day dem born you until you turn 18 years old,

Then when you reach 18, you get right to apply for South Africa citizenship by birth. But e no dey happen automatically — you must apply through their Department of Home Affairs, and your birth must have been registered properly with dem.

Summary: If your Nigerian parents dem no get Permanent Residence or SA citizenship when dem born you for South Africa, you remain a Nigerian citizen. You go only fit apply for SA citizenship when you clock 18 years, provided you stay for SA all through your growth!

A case of chidima the Nigeria beauty pageant

Ah, the case of Chidimma Adetshina perfectly connects to what we just talked about! Her story is literally the practical textbook example of how South Africa's citizenship and identity laws work in real life.

Here is how the whole saga played out:

1. How E All Start (Miss South Africa 2024)
Chidimma was born in Soweto, South Africa, to a Nigerian father and a mother of Mozambican descent. She grew up in SA and entered the Miss South Africa 2024 pageant, reaching the Top 11.
Wikipedia

However, heavy backlash started on South African social media. Many people argued that because of her Nigerian name and heritage, she was "not South African enough" to represent the country on an international stage.

2. The Home Affairs Investigation & ID Theft Fraud
As the controversy grew, the South African Department of Home Affairs launched an official investigation into her nationality.
Wikipedia

What they discovered shocked everywhere:

The Department reported finding prima facie evidence that Chidimma’s mother committed identity theft back in 2001 to get South African citizenship documents.

Allegedly, the mother stole the identity of an innocent South African woman to register herself and her child.
Scalabrini Institute for Human Mobility in Africa (SIHMA)

Even though Chidimma was just a baby when it happened and was innocent of any crime, because her mother’s citizenship foundation was illegal, Chidimma's own legal claim to citizenship by birth became invalid.
YouTube

Facing massive public pressure, xenophobic attacks online, and safety concerns, Chidimma officially withdrew from Miss South Africa in August 2024.
Scalabrini Institute for Human Mobility in Africa (SIHMA)
I think she might likely win the Case on Humanitarian and compassionate grounds and her her lawyer go chop alot of money from her ooooooooo mucheche 😂

Chai ! I know it isn’t easy to just “abandon”, up and leave a place where you were either born in, where you bred and maybe lived more than half of your life in , but sometimes, it is better to do that and,p leave a place when the people who “own” the place no longer want you.
Re: Chidimma Adetshina Heads to Court to Challenge Deportation From S.A (Video) by lailo: 7:20am On Jul 17
What I sensed about this Chidinma Adetshina is that
1. Her both father and mother are conmen
2. The mother is a Mozambique while the father is a Nigeria but Yoruba not Igbo
3. The father is probably a mixed Yoruba-Igbo but a yoruba man by surname Adeshina who twist his identity to be Adetshina bcs of fraud
4. Both the father and the mother are fraudsters specialised in identity thefts as South Africa home Affairs office already incriminate the mother and the obvious evidence that their daughter has no reliable evidence linking her to Nigeria or Igboland other than just names.
5. The father may have lied to her Mozambique mother that he was an igbo from Nigeria to conceal his real identity and home country but his surname gave him out, though the ignorant wife non suspecting.
6. The father is dead (probably from drug or fraud related stuff) and the only thing the mother knows about him is an igbo from Nigeria, nothing more.
7. The Chidinma name is just giving by the mother to depict igbo from Nigeria as the father claimed.
8. All present evidence only point to the fact that the girl is only a Mozambican, not South African and Not Nigerian.
9. Moral of the story- Father figure is very important in a child's life. The identity actually depends on it.
