Hello. My name is Christian. Before I begin this post, I feel it wise to outline these details about myself as your potential employee: 1) I don't believe in continued hardwork for hardwork sake. I believe hardwork should lead to smart work and more smarter work, so as to create time for other aspects of my life that demands my attention. 2) I don't believe suffering is hardwork. If my grandfather was made to look hardworking/busy while chopping firewood and I'm made to look lazy because I now use a gas cooker, then so be it. I don't just want to work so as to look busy/hardworking or to clock attendance and receive a monthly paycheck. I seek something fulfilling and impactful that is likely to reduce human suffering. Achieving this will make me die happy. 3) I take time to understand new concepts thoroughly, and once I do, I apply them confidently Alright, now that that's out of the way I'm a second class upper Petroleum and Gas Engineer graduate from Nigeria Maritime University, Delta who recently acquired his NYSC completion certificate in April this year Although I studied a high end course, and it might scare off some employers because it might give them the impression that I'm 'strictly' high-end, I'm not. I'm high-end, but not strictly. I do not limit myself to the oil sector, as you'll see that in my pastime/ profile posts here on nairaland that I'm an original content writer whose contents seeks to deconstruct human mechanics, ego dynamics, and psychological conditioning. The evidence of this is all over my nairaland topics/posts and my 2 self published e-books so far—whose contents are parallel to what I studied in the university. The course of authoring my ebooks has exposed me to the use of document editing applications like Google docs and AI engine like Gemini for my research summary and structuring. Also, j believe with the application of technology (AI), I can learn what's necessary and needed for any job assigned to me, in line with the role I apply for. It takes humility and the conviction that there's no ceiling to growth or personal development, to learn, and I also believe that it requires an absence of arrogance to offer my advice or opinions without feeling superior. I believe I'm grooming these virtues in me. I'm in my mid 20s, a team-player, currently not employed, residing in Lagos (Shuffling Shangisha Magodo and Iju-ishaga) and you can reach out to me via nairaland DM or a suggested method you feel comfortable with. I'm actively seeking entry-level opportunities where I can contribute, learn, and grow. If you know of any openings or can provide a referral, I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, I'm an original content writer whose contents seeks to deconstruct human mechanics, ego dynamics, and psychological conditioning. The evidence of this is all over my nairaland topics Thank you Cc: phrances17

Reverseng:You didn't specify the kind of job you want. It would be easier to help you if you plainly stated what you want (and also your skill set). |

Hi, Heatseeker My skillset include mostly soft skills like effective communication, problem-solving, teamwork, time management, and adaptability. These aren't just wordings...I'm quite good at all what I mentioned and more. Words aren't enough sometimes. I know my way around Google docs (Android version) because I utilized it to create my 2 e-books, while i began learning Excel 2 weeks ago. I'll confess that my motivation for learning Excel isn't all there, and I feel it's so because I haven't had a realistic case scenario to apply my learnings to. I believe my being in an environment that warrants its continuous use should motivate me enough to learn in order to ensure my continued stay in that environment. Kindly refer to my No 4 above Specifically pinpointing the job I want could limit me, that was why I was broad in my preferences in this post. But I'll say this: I seek to reduce human suffering, because most of the time, the suffering isn't necessary. If it has served its purpose, it should be let go, and there should be means for that to happen. I seek to create that means I target working in sectors that humans can't really live without, so I can see how I can improve these sectors in my own little way. I'm talking banks, energy sector, Administration (social, Humanitarian, NGOs) If I'm to be of use to humanity, I seek to be where I can be around as many humans as possible, and It wouldn't seem wise to walk up to thousands. They'll come to me because I'll place myself where they'll see me. I call this 'effortless effort' HeatSeeker: |

Hi, Pinkygurl. Thank you for the job links. I just applied for the internship role at Ray Oil and Gas. Before now, I applied to Dangote refineries and have even written the first assessment. I was so sure I performed well in that assessment that i didn't receive the link to continue with the second assessment. I know some people who have written the second assessment. I really don't know what's going on pinkygurl: |

I have ebooks on Amazon and you'll find the link to these eBook in my signature too, but there's a difference between "Best Writer" and "Best Seller" I don't know if the title or the look of my ebook is not enough to warrant sales [quote author= post=139763353]You will do well in blogging, educational writing, ebook selling on amazon, freelance article writer, content creator and so on. Hi, Bureaulogic I could see that your post got taken down by the bot. However I checked the signature on your profile and I understand that you're a recruiter based in the UK. I'm currently in Nigeria at the moment. Would that be a limitation on your end to finding me a job, knowing my qualifications as detailed in the opening post? |

Your honesty is refreshing, but honesty should still be strategic. An introduction to potential employers is meant to make them think, "This is someone I'd like to interview." A few things to improve: Don't start by saying, "I need money, not a job." While it's true for almost everyone, employers want to know what value you'll bring to them, not your financial motivation. Avoid statements like "I'm not a fast learner." Even if you explain it later, many recruiters won't read that far. Instead, say something like, "I take time to understand new concepts thoroughly, and once I do, I apply them confidently." The section about not believing in hard work could easily be misunderstood. Employers may interpret it as unwillingness to put in effort. You could instead say you believe in working efficiently, improving processes, and delivering results. Lead with your strengths. Mention your degree, NYSC completion, writing experience, problem-solving ability, curiosity, and willingness to learn before discussing your work philosophy. End with a clear call to action, such as: "I'm actively seeking entry-level opportunities where I can contribute, learn, and grow. If you know of any openings or can provide a referral, I'd greatly appreciate it." Overall, he comes across as intelligent and thoughtful, but he needs to present himself from the employer's perspective. The goal isn't to tell them everything about yourself—it's to make them want to contact you. Save the deeper philosophies for the interview, where they'll likely be appreciated rather than misunderstood. Reverseng: |
