Bankyshinani:It depends on the area/part of the building. If it’s external it’s better to allow the rain to stop for main time before work can commence |

Good evening All, pls which one should come first between screeding and fixing tiles...Also, I am yet to do wiring even though have done the first stage (piping). I specifically delayed the wiring because the estate is synonymous to cable theft...POP has been done. Can I do my tiles before the wiring or I don't have an option.....is it possible to leave wiring till the last...I mean delaying it till am ready to move in... I'll appreciate your response. |

Yes it is two storey building. Is this task heinous? He is doing it already so why not tell his boys to finish it rather than pushing me to pay through my nose because of his laziness. Quite annoying... Thank you for the advice! Beframia: |

dapotemi:Since you've done your POP there is no need of pulling the cables/wiring before tiling, you can go ahead with the tiling work. BUT make sure your electrician tidy up all the floor pipes before the commencement of the floor tiles. If possible let him pull draw ropes in some pipes that are long to avoid breaking of tiles in future. Also let the electrician fish all the pipes to be sure they are not blocked. Let him be on ground to monitor all pipes during tiling too. |

FEGEITOK:Abuja Houseowners and Builders, Read This: The Man Who Saved Me From an Involuntary Manslaughter Charge I rarely post recommendations, but this one I am staking my reputation on. If you are in Abuja and you need an electrician who actually knows his trade, keep reading. First, who he is He is Trade Test 1, 2 and 3 certified, and NABTEB certified. That means he is not a "boy who learned small wiring." He is a qualified tradesman. What he can do, in his own field, is basically everything: Electrical drawings and design Full house and office wiring (done to code, not to convenience) Fault tracing and troubleshooting (this is where most so-called electricians run away) Thunder arrestor / lightning arrestor installation Earthing installation and remediation If it is electricity related, he is your man. Why I am vouching for him: the shocking truth Let me tell you what he actually did for me, so you understand this is not empty praise. I had a maddening problem. Whenever mains power tripped, the inverter would keep ramping up and running at about 50 percent load for no reason I could explain. On top of that, whoever originally wired the house had used a single colour of wire for everything, live, neutral and earth, which is a violation of basic standards and a nightmare to diagnose. I did the obvious first step and installed a brand new earth rod and earthing connections, assuming the old earth was the culprit. It was not (or at least, not the way I thought). Then I noticed something frightening: the fridge, freezer, microwave and cooker were all shocking to the touch. But only when the power came from the mains. On inverter power, zero shock. That clue turned out to be everything. When I told him, he did not give excuses. He said, "Let me come and confirm." He tested the live, neutral and earth at the affected outlet, then went to the distribution board and tested the common earth, common neutral and common live. Every single one lit up on the tester, which should never happen. His first instinct was to check every outlet in the house, tedious as that would be. Then he stopped and said, "There is a better way." He decided to isolate the fault at the DB level instead. We separated each earth connection one by one and tested, until the earth stopped lighting up. That pinned the fault to one circuit: an AC switch and a looped wall socket in the guest room. Here is the part that impressed me. He climbed into the ceiling, and asked me to call out from the ground which room he was standing over. I said the guest room. He traced the wires to the exact wall, came down, went straight to that socket, opened it, and there it was. Because the house was wired in one colour, whoever did the original job had bridged the live to the earth without knowing it. That is why testing live, neutral and earth all gave the same reading, and that is why my appliances were live to the touch. Once he fixed it, I switched the breaker between the AC input and the inverter back on, and the mysterious ramp-up in consumption was gone. Problem solved, completely. Why this matters That single bridged wire could have killed someone. I can finally trust that my house will not make me guilty of involuntary manslaughter. He told me plainly that most electricians will happily show up for a new wiring job, but the moment you say "I have a maintenance and troubleshooting issue," they vanish and give every excuse in the book. He does not. That, to me, is the whole difference. My appeal to you Someone this good does not deserve to be sitting without work. Please give him jobs and support him. He is Abuja based. This is not a sponsored post. I am simply an over-satisfied client who owes him one. And if he ever gives you any issue at all, come back to this thread and raise it with me directly, and I will intervene. Name: Daniel Phone / WhatsApp: +2348062375648 Location: Abuja |

Bankyshinani:That is external/ internal work rain needs to stop for main time before the work can be carried out successfully not because of anything, but it will delay the work since everywhere is almost wet or flooded this days But inspection can be done now if time permits |

LordPherule:You should also specify the type or thickness of aluminium you want. Net type and glass thickness too. Or anyone who wants to quote should do that, this will make all and sundry avoid any issues. |
