Politics2027: APGA endorses Tinubu as preferred candidatePublished on July 15, 2026By Matthew Atungwu

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has endorsed President Bola Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, who disclosed this, said the absence of the party’s presidential candidate’s name on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, nomination portal should not be interpreted as a failure to comply with electoral guidelines.

Opara said the party’s leadership had already resolved to back Tinubu’s re-election bid after what he described as extensive consultations within its ranks.

He further stated that the decision was reached by the party’s National Executive Committee, NEC, which concluded that supporting the president’s second-term ambition was in the overall interest of the country.

According to him, APGA remains an active participant in the electoral process despite not fielding a candidate for the presidency.

He noted that the party has successfully completed the submission of candidates for other elective positions and has uploaded the names of its candidates for the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly elections to the INEC portal.

“We have not uploaded a presidential candidate because the National Executive Committee of the party has already taken a decision to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027,” Opara said.

Solidify, remember someday you will step down and become a past governor, perhaps the government in power gives you no appointment, you might also become a senator or not.

Tinubu will clear minimum 25% in the entire SE states guaranteed......he isn't looking to defeat obi in his home turf, and the strategy is how to get as much out of there as possible.....if soludo can give him this, soludo would have delivered a job well done.......its obi and his marauding mob that keeps deceiving themselves they will defeat every other candidate across all the regions.

With the guaranteed 25%,what ever margin between him and obi in the SE will be conveniently swallowed up by his SW votes which is the second largest voting bloc......the battle ground is the SS and obi can only dream of repeating his 23 fluke.

Anywhere atiku wins in the north, tinubu will come a close second but I dont see atiku doing any magic in the entire south which to an avid political watcher bares him no good at all and puts tinubu in a very comfortable position.

NC xtian votes obi got in 23 has already been bitten deep into by the apc and most of the edge he had are being effectively checkmated or neutralised.

APC is still very strong in the north and what ever margin atiku has over tinubu in the north will be canceled out by the expected poor showing of the former vp in the south and NC

It's a good point but in 2023, APGA saw the uncontrollable rigging that Peter Obí did in the SE and looked away shrugging their shoulders with a "wetin concern us" attitude.

This time around, I am convinced that nonsense rigging by Peter Obi in the South East is going to be met head on by APGA, especially in Prof's Anambra, and unlike in 2023, fairness would be allowed to happen in Aligbo during the elections.

That 85% thing is not happening this time around under APGA's watch, of this I am certain.

Like I said, Ndigbo votes in SE back withing grabbing distance for APC with this union with APGA.

Peter Obi's electoral importance that meant Dickson and Kwankwaso were falling over themselves to align with him might have started becoming less.

To quote my crazy French friend at Uni, tres intresement!

I agree with your hypothesis and I actually think he could get as high as 40% with APC/APGA within at least 2 states.

With a useless opposition and NC, SW and SS in the bag, President Tinubu was coming back anyway. Now he can afford to not bother with NW with SE making up for it.

You realise the Soludo son thing is fake and someone is already in custody over it?

My vote was announced ages ago but people like you would not pay attention as it because it doesn't suit your agenda.

I was planing to vote APGA as Bianca and Prof are in there but as I can't vote APC out of principle anymore, I might vote Labour actually grin, imagine that!

I don't want any politician to take me serious, I want them to make the country better.

There's a lot you don't even understand. Who is apga, and who are the people who populate apga and have made it a political behemoth in anambra over two decades? Is it not the same Anambra people that ensured Peter got almost 100% of votes cast in 2023? Think deeply. Before Soludo, there was apga, and after Soludo, there will be apga. Every Anambra indigene is a member of apga. Soludo can only try and move a mountain as much as a fly can lift an elephant just to please Tinubu and curry favours.

You see the problem with you obidients is your myopic sentimentalism, your inability to detach emotions from objectivism is your greatest flaws, thats why you always get shorter end of the stick in politics.

Nobody has said tinubu will win the SE just the same way obi can't win the SW or anywhere outside his region......but what is certain is that apc will get 25% spread across all the 5 states, thats being very conservative, he will still do 30 to 40 % in 1 or 2 states over there.

Can APGA’s Tinubu Endorsement Break Obi’s 2023 Anambra Wall?

APGA’s reported endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for 2027 may become one of the most politically significant developments in Anambra ahead of the presidential election.

For the first time in Nigeria’s current democratic era, APGA — the party most closely identified with Anambra’s political identity since the Peter Obi years — is openly aligning with the APC presidential candidate instead of fielding its own presidential flagbearer or staying neutral. Daily Post and Vanguard both reported that APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, said the party did not upload a presidential candidate to INEC’s portal because its NEC had resolved to support Tinubu’s re-election.

That is historically important.

In 2023, Anambra was almost a Peter Obi political fortress. Obi scored about 584,621 votes, roughly 95.24%, while Tinubu got only about 5,111 votes. But 2027 will not simply be 2023 photocopied.

APGA has deep roots in Anambra: governor, state structures, ward networks, local political actors, House of Assembly presence, and decades of emotional ownership of the state’s political space.

That does not mean APGA can automatically transfer every vote to Tinubu. Anambra voters are not remote-controlled. But it means Tinubu will not be entering Anambra in 2027 as an abandoned APC candidate carrying his own bag alone.

The effect may not be to make Tinubu win Anambra outright. That is not the immediate projection. The realistic impact is margin reduction: Tinubu moving from symbolic votes to measurable votes, possibly pushing toward the 25% conversation if APGA’s structure, Soludo’s political influence, federal incentives and local candidates work seriously.

For Obi, this is the danger. His 2023 Anambra vote was a wave. APGA’s 2027 endorsement is structure.

And waves can roar.

But structures can quietly count.

Lol.. such a ridiculous comment from a political novice!

You say SE have mind of their own, yet you say Obi will sweep the SE.. it means you guys in SE don’t have mind of your own then.. To you it’s either Obi or no other candidate and that’s VERY UNFORTUNATE!

This is why the SE had lagged behind politically.. We the LIBERAL South South have long gone past you guys with such STAGNANT MENTALITY!.. You guys better grow up fast!

Also stop mentioning the “LIBERAL” SS in your discourse.. they since gone past you guys politically, that’s the truth!

PS: I admire men like Umahi, Gov Mbah, Otti, Soludo and the Imo gov (Uzodinma) for their efforts in strengthening the SE in national politics. They don’t play politics of HATE like most of you do.
