Breaking news: An Igbo businessman settles his apprentice with ₦30 million and a two-storey building after years of faithful service in Onitsha.

The businessman revealed that when the young man joined him as an apprentice, he owned only one house. Over the years, through hard work, dedication, and God's blessings, his business flourished, and he has now built more than 12 houses.

To appreciate his apprentice's loyalty and years of commitment, he settled him with ₦30 million in cash and a two-storey building, giving him a strong foundation to start his own business and future.

This is one of the reasons I deeply admire the Igbo apprenticeship system (Igba Boi).

Imagine serving faithfully for years and, at the end of your apprenticeship, walking away with ₦30 million and a two-storey building. That's more than a settlement—it's a deliberate transfer of opportunity, wealth, and trust.

The businessman shared that when the young man joined him, he owned just one house. Through years of hard work, discipline, and God's blessings, his business grew to over 12 houses. Instead of seeing his apprentice as a future competitor, he chose to make him a future success story.

That's a powerful mindset.

One of the greatest legacies any entrepreneur can leave behind is not just the wealth they accumulate, but the number of people they empower to build wealth of their own.

I believe there's a lesson here for all of us, regardless of tribe. In many communities—including among us Yorubas—we can do more to intentionally mentor, empower, and genuinely launch the next generation into success. Too often, some business owners become uncomfortable when an apprentice or employee begins to grow beyond them, when in reality, their success should be a source of pride, not fear.

Imagine if more business owners across Nigeria settled apprentices with capital, mentorship, and the confidence to start on their own. We would create more entrepreneurs, more employers, and ultimately a stronger economy.

Let's celebrate this businessman for demonstrating that true success isn't measured by how many people work for you, but by how many people succeed because of you. 👏🏾

You're right, but we still have 98% of those that soil their names in hard drugs using business as cover up.
Even the other tribes you want to reference 95% of them used proceed of credit card and BEC fraud and theft from govt to set up their businesses.

IGBOs love themselves,I repeat, IGBOs love themselves.

That's powerful 👍 coming from the ODOGWU Oga na master.

The 'nwa boy" concept in igbo business tradition has kept IGBOs afloat worldwide in business, trade and investments, above every damn tribe in black race.

God bless the IGBOs
This isn't actually about igbo loves themselves...this is clearly about rewarding loyalty...

Please ask Joe Igbokwe, the greatest Igbo man, in your history.

The position he has, is most appropriate for you grin

Awesome! The Igbo apprenticeship system remains a marvel of our times.his boss got it spot on.but the system has also been abused by greedy bosses who fail to fulfill their own part of the agreement.
The nwaboi now has a solid footing to be a man oo his own

Where did they state it was 3 years?

Most time you serve for 5 - 10 years. 3 years is very minimal and less likely except in skills apprentriship.
He served just three years. And he happened that he was well behaved and had really saved his oga in many business deals. As we speak,he traveled to bring his oga's goods abroad.

U are so bittered.
The man is well known importer known as omoletex na umuchu in Onitsha .He said, ever since that young man joined his business he himself has built over 12 houses and because of that ,he decided to build this one and reward his boy after 3 years of serving him.

U think if it is drug money,he will announce it for the world to see.

Igbos are rich beyond words. That young man that he settled is far richer than most directors in Nigeria today who have served federal govt and still suffering.

Nothing beats learning a trade like the igbos.

The only tribe to do this via business is the Igbo 🤗

The others would need you to soil your names in politics before this type of settlement can ever come 🥺

Hmm, I see where your mind is going, what an idea 🤔

BUT

Is that why the country's economy has been on a downward spiral ever since we (the igbos) unknowingly 'agreed' to this your request? 🧐
You mean drug business?
