A BOLD MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE.

Today, I stand before you with a heart filled with profound gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility.

I am truly humbled by the confidence that members of the Nigerian Bar Association have reposed in me by electing me to serve as your President.

Thank you for believing in our shared vision of A BOLDER BAR THAT WORKS FOR EVERYONE. This victory is not mine alone; it belongs to every member who believed that our Association can be stronger, more inclusive, more responsive, and better positioned to serve the interests of all lawyers.

Over the past months, I had the privilege of travelling across our nation, engaging with colleagues in every state of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory. I listened to your hopes, your concerns, your aspirations, and your ideas. Those conversations shaped this campaign, and they will continue to guide my leadership.

I extend my sincere appreciation to every member who participated in this election, regardless of the candidate you supported. The election is over. We are one Bar, united by a common commitment to the advancement of our profession and the defence of justice and the rule of law.

I congratulate my fellow contestants for their commitment to our Association and for enriching this democratic process. I look forward to working with all of you as partners in building an NBA that reflects the very best of our profession.

To the BBOLD Campaign Council, our volunteers, coordinators, supporters, friends, colleagues, and every person who worked tirelessly, often behind the scenes, I cannot thank you enough. Your dedication, sacrifice, belief, and hard work made this journey possible. I am deeply grateful.

To my husband, thank you for your love, your sacrifices, your encouragement, and your unwavering belief in me throughout this journey. Your support, strength, and quiet confidence have meant more than words can express. I am deeply grateful to have walked this path with you by my side. Thank you for being my steadfast partner through it all.

To my family, mentors, friends, and everyone who stood by me with their prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support, thank you for walking this journey with me.

Today marks not the end of a campaign, but the beginning of a new responsibility.

I pledge to lead with integrity, courage, humility, fairness, and accountability. I will be a President for every member of the Nigerian Bar Association. Together, we will build an Association where every lawyer has the opportunity to earn better, live better, and practise better.

The work begins now.

May God continue to bless the Nigerian Bar Association and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Thank you, and God bless you all.

- Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, FCIArb (Mrs. B)
Partner, ALP NG & Co
President-Elect, Nigerian Bar Association

Congratulations to her.

She got 90% of the combined votes of other candidates

Modified: It seems like some people missed mathematics class in secondary school

If the combination of the other candidates votes are 13,000 + and the winner got 12,000+, how many % is that?

The first female SAN to become an NBA president. Why do I feel she will perform better than YCM and MAO put together. Neither of them could do half of what OLUMIDE AKPATA did. God bless Akpata for me

Anybody the Igbos support always makes a good leader. . ,

I love her Charisma. She seems like someone that can uphold a good leadership and not like one man telling us Emilokan. . .

I watched all her Instagram videos on how she travelled around the whole 36 states in Nigeria to campaign at the all NBA State branches Nationwide. Even travelling in a private jet (Omo this lady is very humble and really knows how to play politics like Peter Obi)

She really gave those men a run for their money.

I thought they said the chief snatcher wanted to meddle in the affairs of NBA. But electronic voting na your mate. NBA is able to go electronic but nigeria cannot so that evening news paper politicians would hold unto power unmeritorously

The post said First to be elected. . .

The other First Female was not elected rather she took over from the person after the man was appointed the Attorney Genaral of the Federation in 1992

My dear bro, try to read through thoroughly...

First elected .... the first woman to hold that post wasn't elected.
Sheuns:
Despite several corrections that she’s not the first female NBA president, the mods here have refused to correct all these headlines.

Na wa o.
Dame Priscilla Kuye was the first woman to hold that post but she wasn't elected President.

Nword22:
Priscilla Kuye briefly led the association.
She was elected First Vice President, however, the then President, Akpamgbo resigned after he accepted IBB's offer for Attorney-General of the Federation, then mama Kuye stepped in.

I hope those in Authority learnt a simple lesson in democracy from this NBA elections...

Democracy means letting the will of the majority of the people prevail and let them live with the consequences of their choices with full chest.

Democracy doesn't not mean remote controlling the electoral body..

Congrats to her..may her reign be peaceful. May the Lord give her the wisdom to steer the ship of association for the two years of her tenure and not fail those majority that put their confidence in her.
