If it's the X25 pro then yes maybe. But it didn't work for mine. U might have to unlock it tho.

I squeeze out time to swap the mtn ODU to physical sim. But unfortunately, the ODU number is restricted for a sim swap. So I couldn't do the swap to physical sim.

This is a deal breaker for me.

No wonder someone whose ODU came with external Sim on this thread is complaining that it's not working.

If I go to their office and they can't do physical sim for me, I won't be buying

MTN Came out gun blazing with the ODU, they perfected all the flaws from Airtel.

Installation of my MTN ODU is completed and the speed is still abysmal. We're talking 200Kbps poor meanwhile upload goes as high as 50Mbps.

No menu to switch band or do a little adjustment. Dashboard is just there 🤦🏾‍♂️

The last bundle I bought was from Smart Cash directly, not even Airtel app. My experience.

Was this at a road side agent or a proper MTN connect store or a service center? This sounds like an access level issue.

yes road side.
Since the number is generated using the ODU serial number, there must be a restriction not to allow for a physical sim swap. This is to prevent using it in another device..
Maybe they will lift the restriction as time goes on.

I was shown the error message.
Which translates to “This number is restricted for a sim swap”.

I just dey laugh as I dey read una messages. Not that I'm happy about it. Heck, I already bought X32U for when I'd get the MTNN ODU and swap it for physical sim.

I do know MTNN is not all rosy as people paint them because in my location, they were until they weren't, some two years ago when I used to sub their broadband bundles. To their credit, when they were working, they were more reliable than Airtel when compared holistically. But Airtel has been more consistent ever since, at least for me. They do have their usual unexplainable downtimes we cry about here but they eventually come good.

I'd be patiently waiting for when MTNN will allow external sim on their ODU so I can test it out. Until then, make I dey manage Airtel for now.

Are you guys comparing 100mbps mtn welcome plan to airtel 50mbps plan or am I missing something?
Obviously when something is new, early adopters would enjoy it but time would tell.

50Mbps plan at 25k is strictly for ODU devices, however you can do the experiment for science and we can learn through you.

Apparently MTN didn't do enough research before jumping into this ODU thing 😂

1st it was the physical sim versions that was struggling to activate, and now this abysmal speed.

Some people are stuck with the physical sim version and it's impossible for them to activate, no compensation, no replacement, now they have to get a new device not knowing if the speed will be worth it omo.

I wish they can give us advanced interface for switching network bands and cells, I believe it will do better. Airtel forgive us abeg, we underrated you 😂😂😂

Airtel down time is ridiculous, 2 days now network has been unusable, then sometimes the upload speed becomes normal while download is still not good. Very irritating

At the end of the day, it is all down to the area and maybe the device.

Airtel is everything for me here (Baba Ọdẹ, Ọta, Ogun state)

A small advise to anyone wanting to subscribe to the ODU 25k plan on the normal unlimited 20mbps 30k plan, don't do it. It will show successfully on the smartcash app but will not activate, it will dump the 25k as airtime on the subscribed line, so you'll need to buy additional 5k airtime then convert to the full 30k plan.

I learnt the hard way about 3months ago, I called airtel cc tire.

On-boarding new subscribers and installation is now flawless for the ODU package, all registration is done online. Got a new device on Saturday, from conclusion of registration to final installation took just 3½hrs.

Was quite impressed, got the ZTE model.

Same here too, I even thought i'm the only one affected. It briefly worked properly from 2-5pm since then, back to kbps
