FEGEITOK:Before you build, how many Lead Acids does yours come with? Is it 2 6v combined or 1 12v? You have to take note so that you can get something that will fit into the battery compartment and you can cover as normal. |

I swear, that lead acid is worst Unfaized: |

Unfaized:it's either those followCome batteries ain't meant to last long OR they weren't the right size. Have already discussed reason why most of those batteries go bad within a short time and not willing to repeat ma self again |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 1:17pm On Jul 21 |
Unfaized:if you had read my comment to comprehend, you would have observed I stated different scenarios. I have a distant neigbour (some streets away) who already own 2 dead lead acid batteries (12v 200Ah) and was looking to buy rechargeable fans which he accidentally mentioned to me. When I heard cost of just 1 of the Fan, I informed him that about 60,000 naira (could be less sef) could get 2pcs of such Fans USEd and that he shouldn't bother about the batteries since I would make it work with his already dead batteries. He was surprised BUT told him don't worry. of course He didn't worry much especially since He sees me as a misterious person who seems to know much. Mind you, He was same person I told his wife their solar setUp would go bad within a year just by seeing the panels on their roof (visible from the street) and some of their load in the shop. Today same Man got 4pcs of Fans of which 3 are in active use and those batteries are still working like they're brand new. To such a person, He didn't have to buy the batteries because He owned them already and was even looking to sell them off. Rarely carries load even during the day time. So you see, peoples' needs are unique hence no one size fits all. Just try read my comment to comprehend Thanks |

Unfaized:Even if it doesn't fit, One could always stick it to back or base of the Fan's stand. MoreOver wonder why dem dey talk build like say na one kind rocket science. Go market buy a couple of lithium cells (even if na those cylinderical ones used in street lights) Pair them to give you what you want, get suitable charger and be done with it. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Unfaized: 1:48pm On Jul 21 |
bassdow:I don't know how to explain man, but if you get a rechargeable fan today that comes with Lead Acid battery you will understand. There's even a thread for it on nairaland. That's where I got my solution and purchased from Jumia at 8k We all can't be wrong with our personal experience. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Unfaized: 1:50pm On Jul 21 |
bassdow:Ofcourse you're right, however I wouldn't want a system looking like a time bomb lol. Retaining original aesthetics matters to me and the lithium that will fit will surely give you much more hours. You don't even have to change the charger. Works with same charger. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Mykcool(m): 2:55pm On Jul 21 |
bassdow:You’re clearly the one that failed to comprehend what the initial comment meant. How can you be bringing up a 100ah lead acid, when a small compact battery was being discussed. And then you went on to say they shouldn’t call it build because it is not rocket science, Haba!! |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Unfaized: 3:13pm On Jul 21 |
bassdow:It comes with a bms too. |

Good evening My People With 300k, what is the solar panel setup one can get for the following loads 6 DC fans (30 watts each) Ten 5 watts bulbs Normal phone charging I am looking at a setup with a panel since there is no electricity in the area(bad transformer) Your advise and recommendations would be appreciated PS(power tanks already cost this amount but does not come with panel, so it's already beyond my friends budget) |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by fuckboys: 5:00pm On Jul 21 |
Topper33:even with panels? This your budget is not budgeting at all. Even if I recommend itel power tank or the colar solar generator, adding a panel to it is already a budget of 500k Just go and buy generator. |

I no even know weytin to talk. Topper33: |

Have you been able to get this resolved? Topper33: |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bryanluke: 6:13pm On Jul 21 |
fuckboys:chief, yes it can still fly this way if truly he upgrade his budget to 500k... if he buy itel powertank 300k, he can still see panel for 100k then get 4mm wire 10yards. 2k per yard x 10 = 20k.. remaining 80k then he get breaker/change over if need be.. the rest he pay installer |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bryanluke: 6:17pm On Jul 21 |
Unfaized:my own rechargeable fan. I built 18650 battery for it 12v 14ah and it's serving and last like forever. The 13v charger doesn't work with it so the builder gave a 12v charger which i charge the battery externally even as the battery is inside the fan compartment where the lead acid was designed |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bryanluke: 6:19pm On Jul 21 |
Topper33:look for someone who can build an 18650 battery for u, 100ah with 500w/1000w inverter might not cost more than 200k or 220k.. then you get a pwm controller with a single 200w 18v panel.. Note: that single 200w 18v panel wont charge fast unless you up your budget then get 2-3pcs of panels |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 6:53pm On Jul 21 |
Topper33:With such loads, you need not BUY inverter at all. Just buy any 12v battery of your choice NEW / USEd and (USEd 2pcs 300w or 1pcs New 625w) Solar panels and any good enough MPPT charge controller As for being able to recharge your phone(s), there are charge controllers that come with USB ports or buy USB adaptors that run off 12v Buying things this way gives room for future growth UNLIKE power tanks or whatEver they're called. If you wanna take thing further, and shave off some costs, you could buy really USEd 12v 200AH leadAcid battery for about 50,000 naira. Mind you, should you later wanna reSell it to scrap buyers, you could even recoup your money if not make few change on top |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bryanluke: 6:54pm On Jul 21 |
Topper33:but wait, your friend uses 6 dc fan, if it's a 3 bedroom flat he uses it for. Then he has money to buy such, so he can't up his game to 500k and get itel powertank with panel |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 7:01pm On Jul 21 |
fuckboys:Should He follow ma lead, it would BUDGET well enough. One needs think outside the BOX and like @dollaNaira do say, all na sense to use Solar system. Issue is, we spend money like it's there when most times, we struggle to even gather it |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bryanluke: 7:09pm On Jul 21 |
I was about to comment before you redited it.. but i won't buy the idea of not using inverter even if na sachet inverter, and buying used lead acid na rubbish.. instead of used lead acid.. make he go buy assembled 18650 batteries of 1kwh. Wichat build and sell it on IG & tíktok. Even a lot of people build it if they sabi their onions nothing like explosion wey una see online.. cux am using the 18650 battery, a small setup of 30ah and inverter which i charge with nepa.. is just a backup cux I'm on band A and we do have light.. bassdow: |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 7:16pm On Jul 21 |
Gshems:Make we try resolve this. Then don't be surprised when someone else comes with budget of 200,000 or less BUT that budget is workAble if He/She is willing to do as suggested BUT if e wan follow normal way, na e pocket go feel am. |

My battery bms don shut down. Can I wake up the battery with 3000 Generator? Battery is itel 2.5kwh inverter is itel 4kwh. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bryanluke: 7:21pm On Jul 21 |
Look for nepa light to boost it ooo prince4pro2: |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 7:26pm On Jul 21 |
Bryanluke:Most times, I comment based on personal experience and journey. I might be able to spend 1,500 naira at a sitting in an eatery today and not easily feel it, doesn't mean it's always been that way from the start. One thing about not coming from solver or gold spoon is as we grow, we learn ways to survive. Moreover buying assembled 18650 batteries of 1kwh or even 1.5kwh would only cost him more and give aesthetics. His/Her load doesn't need all those plenty spendings + gives room for future growth. In fact e fit still carry Tv (not all TV) and laptop if OP is willing to put in the effort. I don't talk from Google or AI like some people say. I am someone who has destroyed a brand new Asus laptop while trying to make it last 2-days on single charge AND then sef, na normal charger I dey use Ooo. I never even know wetin solar be those days. Like I dey now, should the sun decide going on strike for 1-week, I can afford to run ma Fans at fun strength for the entire duration without need to recharge. At end of the day, taste of the pudding is in the eating. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 7:27pm On Jul 21 |
prince4pro2:being able to wake it up is one thing. Another thing is knowing what lead to such to avoid a repeat occurence |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 7:28pm On Jul 21 |
bassdow:Seriously, it's not even difficult enSlaving people. As in seriously it isn't at all as most of us make it too easy |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bryanluke: 7:32pm On Jul 21 |
If the sun goes off for a week, that means you have a backup battery. It seems you do talk or reply to some comment out of context at times.. 1kwh 18650 with 1000w inverter and 1/2pcs of 200w panel will fly with 300k budget bassdow: |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Fremlin: 7:32pm On Jul 21 |
bassdow:Boss I admire all you do, but recommending used lead acid should be a criminal offence |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 7:39pm On Jul 21 |
Bryanluke:you really wanna start argument YET recommending 200w solar panels in year 2026. Good luck. I don Mind you, would suggest we stop refering to battery capacities in kwh as that could be misLeading to a lot of people who don't know their equivalent in AH before there would be another outBurst like was done for Inverter. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 7:41pm On Jul 21 |
Fremlin:You do know You Right/Wrong WHILE I'm equally Right/Wrong hence at end of the day, everyOne's Right/Wrong in their own way. Would quit responding so we don't continue littering up the space |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bryanluke: 7:47pm On Jul 21 |
I understand your plight boss, no argument we are own learning here. I understand a 200w 18v panel might not be useful in the future, i only suggested that cux it's a 12v system using paired with a PWM controller bassdow: |
