Countries allowed the US to set up bases because they were guaranteed protection by the US. Now that the US military might is being successfully challenged by Iran... countries realized that these people can't protect themselves from Iran ... how will they protect us? The US has spread itself too much and their stack of weaponry has become too thin.

This war is showing all this problem of putting ya eggs in too many baskets.

Russia and China have in possession ICBM that can reach the US. Iran does not. The US has ICBM that can reach Iran but are only using the stashed inventory in these bases and that can never be enough to handle the old Persian especially when the old Persian has subscribed to a religion like I-slam...

The Russians and Chinese have a consolidated inventory more than the US. The fall of the British empire is the same mistake the US is repeating. Spreading yasef too thin wouldn't help when it matters most. Those bases would be easily overrun in a serious conflict and Iran, the underdog is exposing this. Others are watching...

I for one suspect the next hegemony wouldn't be a nation but the corporations...

NATO will not defend Bulgaria because NATO is for defence in the event of attack. So Bulgaria allowing US to attack Iran is also a direct attack by Bulgaria.

Besides, US is 80% NATO so additional NATO will not substantially affect Iran

Bulgaria's government ⁠aims to station the U.S. aircraft at the Bezmer military facility, about 260 km (160 miles) southeast ⁠of the capital Sofia.

The U.S. and Iran have intensified strikes since an interim ceasefire ⁠deal signed a month ago unravelled, raising the possibility of a return to all-out war

The other day Isreal took over Iranian airspace for weeks killing their generals. Iran was was powerless.

What changed with the US involvement

Israel has spies and MOSSAD agents who have been living inside Iran for years and giving intelligence to base. US on the other hand rushed into the war with very little intelligence. They tried to repeat what they did with Venezuela on Iran.

The only thing here is that Iran would loose eventually. Because they're the ones being pounded. The US mainland is safe, so they won't care if Iran pounds other countries in retaliation. They'll just keep bombing them until they come back to the negotiation table

Allowing an ally to use its bases—such as under the 2006 U.S.-Bulgaria Defense Cooperation Agreement—is a sovereign decision.

If Iran acts on its warnings regarding Bezmer Air Base and strikes Bulgarian soil, it triggers Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty.

It will trigger a unified NATO response.
