[
b]Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reiterated his support for the second-term bid of President Bola Tinubu and the governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress candidate in the state, Kingsley Chinda.[/b]

In what appeared to be a public declaration of peace and an end to political hostilities in the state, Fubara said that, as a loyal member of the APC, he had also joined the Rainbow Coalition, a political group initiated by his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to advance the interests of the ruling party in Rivers State.

The governor made his position known on Wednesday during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Riven Medical Industries Project in Port Harcourt.

He disclosed that the political forces that had previously been at odds in the state had resolved their differences and agreed to work together in the interest of peace and development.

Fubara urged his supporters across the state to set aside past differences and support the aspirations of Tinubu, Chinda and other APC candidates in Rivers State in the forthcoming elections.

He said, “We have made peace in the state, and I’m supporting our Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Tinubu is our President, and is the one we are supporting.

“OK Chinda is the governorship candidate that I am supporting, and anybody who believes in me will support him and every other candidate that is under the Rainbow Coalition.

“I’ve gone back to our family. So, please, whoever you are, give your total support to the Rainbow Coalition. We need to move forward. The time of war is over. It is time for peace, and this peace is taking us to another level.”

He added, “I want this to be made clear to everybody. So, don’t go anywhere and say you’re supporting Fubara …. No.

“My position is this: I have said it here and clearly for everyone to hear. If you’re not hearing well, use cotton wool to clean your ears and let it enter well.

“I’m not party to anything that will bring any form of disunity in this state. I’ve done what I need to do, and we are moving forward.”

The political crisis between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, erupted in late 2023 over a power struggle with Wike, who had become Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

The dispute triggered a division in the Rivers State House of Assembly, an impeachment threat against Fubara and a prolonged political confrontation between the two camps.

In 2025, the crisis reached a new phase after Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the state, suspending Fubara, his deputy, Prof Ngozi Odu and the state House of Assembly. The suspension was later lifted, but the political rift remained a major issue in the state ahead of the 2027 elections.

Towards the primaries of the APC, Fubara, who obtained the form, did not participate in the exercise after he was not given the green light by the national secretariat of the party. In his place, Chinda won and got the ticket.

Wike had since declared support for Chinda and other members of what he termed “Rainbow Coalition,” bringing together candidates of the APC and Peoples Democratic Party for the 2027 election.

Speaking further at the event, Fubara described the Riven Medical Industries Project as a positive development for the state but warned against a recurrence of past experiences in which some investors were allowed to operate in the state but failed to fulfil aspects of their agreements, resulting in litigation.

Fubara said his administration endorsed the project because it was convinced that the new investors had the capacity and commitment to revive the facility, create jobs and promote economic development in the state.

He urged the investors to adhere to the agreed timelines and ensure that the first phase of the project was completed within the next three months.

The governor also appealed to the host communities and the leadership of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area to support the project and avoid actions that could disrupt its operations.

Fubara pledged that his administration would continue to provide the necessary support to ensure the success of the project.

The Riven Medical Industries Project is a public-private partnership between the Rivers State Government and Enbay Pharmaceutical Industries Limited.

It is being implemented through Riven Medical Industries Limited, a special purpose vehicle established by Enbay to revive and redevelop the former Integrated Medical Industries into a pharmaceutical manufacturing complex.

When completed, the facility is expected to manufacture pharmaceutical formulations, gelatine capsules, intravenous infusions and active pharmaceutical ingredients, thereby expanding Nigeria’s local pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity and reducing dependence on imported medicines.

The project is also expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities, facilitate technology transfer, attract investment and strengthen the pharmaceutical manufacturing and healthcare value chains.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onwuka Nzeshi, said the groundbreaking ceremony marked the beginning of a project aimed at promoting industrial growth, economic diversification, improved healthcare outcomes and strategic partnerships in Rivers State and Nigeria.

He was raising valid points about promotion exercise and civil service recruitment
How does that translate to anger in your warped logic
If you have nothing to add to the concerns he raised, shouldn't you have just read the Op and moved on

You are obviously equally angry, yoi can pretend all you want but you can't hide behind one finger....your tone and his inference are equally not related to the topic...... if you care about the promotions of the civil servants, you equally need to spare a thought for the politucal interest of the gov also, its equally important to him.

This goes to show that governor Fubara is not fit to be a governor of any state in Nigeria. His emergance as Rivers state governor was a colossal mistake.
The rainbow coalition he is going back to join will take devil serious than the governor. He is going to be an outsider in the decision making of that coalition.
Fubara is the worst governor Rivers state has ever had.

Any purported support secured via threats, coercion, inducement and state of emergency is only surface-deep. It will crumble when the chips are down. This is why even Sanwo-olu ended up allegedly funding Atiku’s campaign via the Achimugu lady in 2023. Many assumed Tinubu supporters will do the same come 2027.

He has learnt his lesson, he learnt the hard way.

This is best thing for him to do, you dont bite fingers that feed you and you dont outshine your Master.

But it's good he's retracing his step already and do away from those who pushed him to his calamities.

Who are those threatened?

I only see Obidients threatening their family members!

Like they won't feed their mum if she doesn't vote for Obi!

Like they won't send money to their dad if he's voting for BAT!
