They make all these gains as a result of unfair/unethical business practices and discriminatory pricing models. There should be a price floor (minimum amount cement can be sold) and price ceiling (maximum amount cement can be sold). That is an area where communism and socialism beats democracy, all business are fair and regulated by the state. |

For the last 3+ months I noticed people now use BUA cement more compared to Dangote, I didn't bothered to ask why, maybe their products are cheaper |

It's not for our own good, those men are here to line their pockets with our sweats and the ef gee will look the other way as usual. There's no reason we should be buying fuel ⛽ for more than 200 naira, they have created extreme artificial conditions to increase price and steal from us. adeoba2008: |

I wholeheartedly support local industries like BUA and Dangote but there has to be a honest conversation around fair prices. In a country with deep housing deficits, affordable cement price is a key catalyst to expansion of the real estate segment of the economy. What must have slipped the attention of many is that there is no proportional expansion of cement production lines compared to the increased utilisation of cement especially for roads. Most FG roads are now been built on rigid(concrete) pavement thus spiking cement demand. And when you have such increase in demand without commensurate adjustment in the supply side, there is a potential for price increase or manipulation. It's the job of the government to determine whether such supply gaps truly exist and how wide they are, and allow some controlled imports to balance the markets. |

Nigeria is sitting on one of Africa's largest limestone reserves, yet Nigerians buy some of the most expensive cement on the continent. How? Year after year, the richest cement company owners become even richer, their fortunes soaring while millions of Nigerians struggle to build a simple home. The gap keeps widening, and ordinary citizens are the ones paying the price. The government has also failed Nigerians by not doing enough to ensure real competition and protect consumers from persistently high prices. The same pattern is now being debated in other key sectors, including fuel, where many Nigerians question whether enough is being done to keep prices affordable and markets competitive. A country blessed with abundant natural resources should not make cement a luxury. Nigerians deserve fair prices, effective regulation, and an economy that works for everyone, not just a powerful few. Compare the price of cements in Nigeria with other neighbouring countries and you'll be shocked. GREED IS THE MAJOR PROBLEM OF NIGERIA. |

adeoba2008:You shall get where? These criminals will not let you get to anywhere. They conived with the clueless government to sell cement to Nigerians at ridiculously high price and come back to an announce crazy profits. 90% of the raw materials for cement production are gotten here in Nigeria. These guys will still be in profit if they sell cement to Nigerians for 5k - 6k. But greedy won't allow them because there is nobody to check mate their activities. |

80% increase in profits! In less than a year! Tell me which other country on earth permits this kind of broad daylight robbery? A 50kg bag of cement sells for 4500 naira in China, 5000 naira in Egypt and 7000 naira in South Africa. There is nothing that justifies the prices these thieving local companies selling cement for in Nigeria. A serious government should fling open import licences for cement so that cheaper cement sources can be accessed. |

There has never been fuel scarcity in Nigeria.....sir what you saw was artificial hoarding of fuel to increase price and make unethical profits off of Nigerians especially during festive period. Nigeria is abundantly blessed with oil even as we speak there are two gigantic pipelines being built all the way from southern Nigeria straight to Europe, later some pelican mouthed spokesman will come on MTA and tell there is gas shortage in the country whereas those phools are sending our gas to Europe without giving a dogs bollocks about domestic consumption. Hahahaha! I can bet that his cement company is responsible for greater part of this astronomical jump in profit. That's what happens when a product that is not supposed to be sold above N5,000 per bag is being sold at N12,000. The same thing goes for Dangote cement and others. The other time, Dangote was asked in an interview why his cement price is far higher at home than at neighbouring countries, he started making excuses about taxes and all other nonsense. These people, all the cement manufacturers in Nigeria instead of competing among themselves to bring the price of cement down to a reasonable price and profit, they effectively colluded to raise the price of cement unfairly. This was done in 2023 when they first created false cement scarcity and since then, all of them started declaring insane annual profits! |

The whole country is rigged because the only people who can change the system are those benefiting from the system the most, so there's no hope in sight until a man who has the masses at heart gets to power. Unfortunately such men are always taken early by God. Basicend: |

ViceGovernor:Yep! Absolutely! these billions in profit doesn't benefit the masses rather it is money that had been extorted from the masses by hiking price of goods. There are no control of prices of goods in nigeria, today they charge what want, tomorrow the charge more, next week they charge even more, even though it is the same batch of goods. It is eye wateringly sad. |

Cement inflation is out of this world : 20 bags of cement is 250,000. That's outrageous. Please you guys should have mercy on fellow citizens. The profits you are making is for what actually? During Jonathan 20 bags is N20,000 @ 200/$ Which means N20, 000 = $100 So at N1500/$ , 20 bags is supposed to be around N150,000. While sell N250,000.? This is wickedness. Bags. GEJ@200/$. @1500/$. Price 20 N20,000. N150000 N250,000 80. N80000. N600,000. N1M 360. N360,000. N2.7M N4.5M Etc The outrageous inflation on cement is unexplainable. If you are buying 360 bags you spend N4.5M to buy it instead of N2.7 at N1500/$ compared to Jonathan time and taking dollar inflation into consideration. Honestly all these blood you are squeezing out of Nigerians in the name of profit will not do any one any good. |

favor914: These crooks do not sweat while making these billions, you think the owner of BUA cement sweats? What a ridiculous thinking. You can't create any scheme that would ever match BUA cement with billions of naira in profit otherwise YOU would have created one yourself. What another ridiculous thinking. these crooks are in cohort with the corrupt govament to extort the masses through price hikes. No price control for the same batch of goods today they charge high price, tomorrow they charge higher, next week they charge even more higher. They have monopoly. I suspect you have never ever bought a bag of cement before |
