I think CS will pay a dividend by the end of this week.
I think their 3% drop was for dividend, because I got a cash equivalent of the deducted amount

Just spoke with my Account rep. They are indeed paying dividend today

I am not understanding something. How is it dividend when the money was taken out of my money?

Isn’t this just like me making a withdrawal?
Re: Equity Investment. by CSblackpink(m): 5:27pm On Jul 28
I think CS does not have the reinvestment process; they have to first deposit the funds to your account and then credit it to your bank account.

I'm even trying to withdraw or reinvest the funds but it is inaccessible. I don't understand this kind of dividend. Seems they are going to be reinvesting the fund themselves.

After today i’m sure it will become accessible.

Now i understand why some people believe dividend is a scam. A dividend should be an addition to my existing holding not a deduction.

Seems like they are going to be reinvesting it than crediting bank account. This their own method is different from paramount. I think those ones usually add d dividends directly to your units.

Even most of these big stocks, this is how their dividend operate too. They drop their share price to pay dividends.

Maybe they don't want people to buy the dip with d funds lol. I won't be surprise to see an increase in unit price tomorrow

You’re right. Ex dividend price is always lower. I doubt if anyone can top up today 😂😂.

Maybe when the unit price jumps, we will be made whole for the deduction. Thankfully today is a green day

It's not a scam at all.

It's only the NAV that went down and it happens when dividend is paid. Number of unit remain the same.

You can use the dividend paid to purchase more units.

Now your unit number will increase after purchasing more units with the dividend and your subsequent capital appreciation will grow faster than before.

I started CS equity at the beginning of March. It appears that this is at least the 2nd time they are paying dividends. I did not know when they paid the previous one(s).
I believe that there should a better way to communicate this to subscribers by Cardinalstone.

I have no idea how many times in a year that CS equity fund pays. what I observed is that I have 220K more units than I purchased. The latest jump is about 74K. I don't know when the others were added.

CS dividend is not worth it for me. First the portfolio went seriously down by -3.26% on Monday even when the market was slightly green, this we were told was because of the dividend. Now they have paid the dividend and it's sitting as cash balance that cannot be withdrawn or reinvested. What's the point of reducing the funds and adding same back to claim it was dividends paid.

I did not notice the 'cash withdrawal' possibly because I did not closely but I noticed an increase in the number of units in addition to a 0.28% gain for Tuesday.
No one knows for sure if the huge drop on Monday was due to the 'dividends'. We are just speculating. There needs to be a clearer communication by the fund managers. Unfortunately, this is naija.

Did anyone receive a credit alert this morning for dividend payment?
I think it is coming from my balanced funds as it had CSBF in the narration,it was a few thousand naira more than what was subtracted from the red monday.
Re: Equity Investment. by Rico1278: 10:50am On Jul 29
Seems the units remain the same, just they withdrew money from your balance with the units unchanged

I went ahead to do a lil analysis on the two fund managers using AI. Fund A is United capital while Fund B is Cardinal Stone. Below is the outcome.

.
.
.

With those NAVs, here's the actual comparison:

Fund A (NAV 2.28)
Dividend yield: 0.3082 ÷ 2.28 = 13.5%
Capital appreciation: 40%
Total return ≈ 53.5%

Fund B (NAV 2.83)
Dividend yield: 0.097 ÷ 2.83 = 3.4%
Capital appreciation: 58%
Total return ≈ 61.4%

Fund B comes out ahead, by roughly 8 percentage points in total return — its much stronger capital appreciation more than makes up for the smaller dividend.

I don't even understand how this dividend works.
After the 3percent dip. Next day my money became complete.

I thought it's something I can see and spend although it's not as big as I was thinking

It's confusing for me.
