Sources say the emerging deal requires Hamas to surrender all weapons, destroy tunnels and relinquish power before an Israeli withdrawal, though Hamas-linked accounts are presenting a less sweeping formula.

Israeli officials said Thursday that Hamas appeared to have accepted complete disarmament as part of an emerging agreement on the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire, while Palestinian sources reported progress on the terror group’s weapons, Gaza’s future administration and an eventual Israeli withdrawal.

"The direction appears positive,”officials familiar with the talks said. "It appears Hamas has surrendered and agreed to complete and absolute disarmament.”They said the proposed agreement, if signed, would be “strict and detailed, with no tricks and no compromises,”requiring the dismantling of heavy and light weapons, tunnels, weapons depots and production facilities.

"In practical terms, this is Hamas’ surrender,” one official said. “It accepted the framework that was already agreed with the mediators several months ago. There is complete dismantlement of heavy weapons, light weapons and tunnels, along with dense and rigorous monitoring mechanisms.”

Sources close to Hamas sought to portray the developing arrangement in less definitive terms, saying Egyptian-mediated talks with international envoys had produced progress on the main issues blocking the transition to the next ceasefire phase. Palestinian reports said an announcement on the understandings could be issued later Thursday.

The Board of Peace for Gaza said talks in Cairo were continuing and advancing, adding that the roadmap called for the dismantlement of all weapons, heavy and light, without exception, alongside the destruction of tunnels, arms depots and production facilities.

At the end of the process, Hamas will have no role in governing Gaza, openly or behind the scenes, and the committee administering Gaza will hold full authority under the principle of one authority, one law and one weapon,” it said. The process would be based on reciprocity and independent verification rather than trust, with each step by one side enabling the next move by the other.

A source close to Hamas who spoke with ynet said a “certain formula” had been developed for handling the group’s weapons, including the possibility of surrendering and storing arms under an agreed mechanism.

"There is a certain formula for transferring and storing the weapons,” the source said. “There is a formula accepted by Hamas and the mediators, and there are also understandings concerning employees and civilian mechanisms.”

He nevertheless expressed doubt that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government would accept anything short of Hamas’ complete disarmament, suggesting the proposal could instead serve as the basis for a future agreement under a different Israeli government.

Hopefully this will go a long way in restoring some kind of peace in that area. Hamas brought a war of destruction upon the very Palestinians they claimed to be fighting for, 70,000 dead and several others wounded and permanently maimed they have finally ( hopefully I must add) realised this was a losing battle from the onset.

Sometimes going really hard on people with this sort of mentality is the best way forward, not whatever it is that our Nigerian government are doing with bandits and terrorists in Nigeria. Hit them so hard that they go pick up their senses wherever they dropped it , or grow one if they had none in the first place.

Re: Hamas Accepts Full Gaza Disarmament by Kobojunkie: 2:45am On Jul 31
Iro oshi! Not another go on this unending rollercoaster, abeg! All terrorists must be gotten rid of!!! I thought Israel would have figured at this point that if these terrorists are not put to death immediately, they are more than likely to keep coming back again and again and again... this we have seen over and over and over again. Not the same old play reloaded!!! 😒😒😒😒

Sometimes how many times? This isn't the first time Israel has had to go hard at those mfs. Maybe this is the first time the world has had to watch in near real-time the devastation that results when war is fought, but this ain't the first, or second, or even third time with these very terrorists. You give them a break, and they recoup and come back even harder. I would rather Israel stay the course and finish the job this time. No more deals!😒😒

If this is true, good for gaza people
Re: Hamas Accepts Full Gaza Disarmament by Igbophobia: 5:45am On Jul 31
I can't believe Israel would trust these terrorists and withdraw. Bibi should annex Gaza. Afterall Putin has done worse in Cremea and no one did anything. Stopping terrorism is very important. Israeli annexation of Gaza and American demolition of the mullah government should go hand-in-glove.

I think the beating Iran is receiving has finally reset Hamas' brain.

That's how to handle terrorists, not pay and pardon them as some do.

So I ask the islamic terrorism supporters: what are the benefits of the October 7th? With the losses on iranian side, Hezbollah side, hamas side, houthis, islamic jihad, etc, did the October 7 worth it?

This is first time they're going THIS hard on them, usually it used to be a few bomb here and there and they call it a day, they hardly ever set boots on the ground. But this time around it was a sustained no holds barred bombing and invasion of Gaza to eliminate as many terrorists as possible and rescue their civilians held captive.

They really pummeled Gaza so hard that hamas can't claim victory after any ceasefire as they usually does, yeah this the first time the world has had to see what "Urban warfare" looks like but this is also the best use of propaganda in history. The propaganda that hamas and it's supporters utilised in this war was top-notch, it was so good that they even got LGBTQ people shilling for them grin, so the perception of Israel is right now at an all time low, not since the Final solution did Jews face such a thing, but I have got to say they aren't helping their case... Not like they give a damn this time around and that's what scares hamas the most —israel don't seem to give a damn about their perception on the world stage, they just want to get the job done.

I think if this peace deal and disarmament is successful it will really lead to a lasting peace for both Israel and Gaza, the people involved in this one seems to be really serious and meticulous. I hope I'm right though 😅.

The thing about staying on course and finishing the job is that you can't really terminate all the hamas members and fighters without it costing a lot more blood on the civilians, the best way is to reduce their influence in the strip, cut down on their fighting force and then force them to the table to agree on a disarmament.

Anyway, let's watch and see how it goes.

He's not trusting the terrorists, he is hoping that the board of peace hold true to the agreement, Israel is not pulling out until the disarmament and new government are in place. And No, they shouldn't annex Gaza, Israel has never wanted Gaza and don't want to have anything to do with it. Before leaving the strip in 2005, they have repeatedly tried to hand it over to Egypt who keeps on rejecting the offer.

What's resetting Hamas brains is the non-stop evisceration of Gaza by Israel despite all the topnotch propaganda machines they have deployed to soil Israel's image and force and international intervention on the war. The propaganda worked but the international intervention didn't materialize. Hezbollah could only do so much, them too are getting it hot hot from Israel and Iran seems to have a bigger issue on their hands right now and have seemingly abandoned them to their fate, Hamas public perception is fast eroding in the strip due to the destruction and death the war has brought on them, a lot of Gazans are on TV blaming hamas for the war and a few have started resistance against them. This I believe have made hamas to rethink this war and accept a disarmament and soft landing.

It was a net negative to them. Gaza is leveled, hamas is on life support, thousands of civilian deaths, Hezbollah have been clipped and on life support, Iran weapons and financial support to Hezbollah have been severed which led to the toppling of Assad. Iran are currently getting bombed the hell out. None of them are benefiting from the Oct 7 attack .

Exactly!!!

Look at the lives lost by iran and her proxies. October 7th was pure madness, a pure miscalculation. The regrets are overwhelming.

They should be watched closely! I don't trust the terrorists. They may be trying to buy time to stock up weapons and resume what they know best to do.

Keep them under surveillance, don't let them breathe or go unwatched for a second undecided

You must be talking about Egypt, their parent country with three-layered fences.. The West Bank has a boundary with Jordan also were 70% of the citizens are Palestinian Arabs.

If I may ask, which Nigerian city was better than Gaza? Life expectancies, salary scale etc.

Iran left the WhatsApp group!
Houtis and Hezbollah watching.

My Mum always tells me that war doesn't give birth to peaceful children.
"Live peaceably with everyone," says the Bible.
Look out at how Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE, and Oman have prospered compared to war-ravaged Syria and terror-ravaged Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, and Yemen.
