IvoryT:Two things I know in this life are that water is wet and IRCC will always take their sweet time to do whatever they want. It's frustrating, but that's just the IRCC way. |

Submitted May 16, biometric May 18 Yes that 64 days had elapsed because I noticed that is now the processing time. My planned entry and exit date has passed I actually do not want to use the web form. I want to know if this can be a basis for rejection since my exit and entry dates has passed Clarapaul: |

helpingnow:I do not think that can be a basis for rejection, if every of your file meets the IRCC standard, you'll have the visa. Over to God of mercy! I believed the ogas in the house will shed more light on this. |

So am trying to apply for canadian visa b4 the month ends, i have been trying to read tru the thread, but i doubt i can read tru in the short time available now.started from 50 pages AGO so a quick questions, from the lil i read, i gleaned that the canadians value a tourist visa application more, if the applicant has relatives inviting him than if going for a conference or normal sight seeing... so my question is, is this true, if yes..what qualifies as relative, direct siblings, parents....what of cousins or nieces, do they carry same weight? i have valid usa, uk visa...wch i hv used severally, did france, spain and italy last year as well, decent job here in naija and good savings + pay. so i have a series of job related conferences i can use for my application, and i have nephews there as well...pls whats the best route for me to use in the application? |

shithapuns:Based on ur travel history ur best approach is to apply for visit a family(brother, cousin, nieces etc) or friend in canada |

Dikemover:Have you tried sending a webform? |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by JapaProf: 12:22pm On Aug 11 |
shithapuns:Why do you want to visit? There’s nothing like one reason for visiting being valued more than another. If you’re attending a conference and the purpose of your visit is clear and justifiable, your visa can be approved. |

No anytime they like they should send the decision okoyeflix: |

shithapuns:Two very different answers were given to this question. One response said the applicant's best approach was to apply as a family visitor because of their travel history and relatives in Canada. Another response challenged that assumption: “There’s nothing like one reason for visiting being valued more than another.” So which one is actually supported by the evidence? I took the original question back to our updated Canadian immigration reference materials, including the relevant legal framework and IRCC guidance, and examined the claims rather than simply choosing the more convincing forum answer. The result is worth reading, especially if you're preparing a Canadian visitor visa application based on family, business, conferences or tourism. relocationhub:Conference-based visitor visa applications can attract more scrutiny, especially when the applicant has little or no previous history of attending similar international conferences. Unfortunately, conference travel has sometimes been misused as a route to enter Canada and subsequently claim asylum. So, in the current climate of 2026, a well-supported private visit may sometimes present a stronger case than suddenly applying to attend a conference in Canada. Ask yourself realistically: How many similar conferences have you attended before? What is your history with the organization or similar industry events? If there is no established pattern, IRCC may question why you suddenly need to attend this particular conference in Canada. And just so you know, many Nigerians who have used conference visas to enter Canada have ended up claiming asylum. |

Hi I will advice you apply for just a holiday visit. We had the same profile when I applied last year. I kept my application simple. Didn’t tie it to anyone in Canada. Your valid US has done 60% of the work for you. Tidy up your application, show strong Nigerian ties, show your travel history. And apply for just a regular holiday. Use chatGPT to give you like a 1-2 week holiday itinerary. I don’t like involving family and friends/conference when I’m well qualified already All the best shithapuns: |

MsAnonymous:thanks to all those who responded, i really appreciate thje time and effort. so you added a 3rd option -TOURIST, NOT TIED TO ANYONE IN CANADA, which i hvused succesfullly for uk and schengian, making the routes 3 1. conference 2. Invite from a relative living in canada 3. tourist/holiday. now am even a lil more confused which option to go for, with some of the conflicting info i hv gotten while trying to read back last 100 pages, + the recent comments now. the conference route has been casted, i agree with that...so am left with choosing from option 2 or 3...kai, wahala |

Your family member there is your nephew or niece I believe, from your write up. They are not a strong person to use as invitation. Family invitation that makes sense like a sibling, or if your child is inviting you. Just do a regular tourist/holiday application. Tidy it up well. Your introduction letter should clearly state 1. Your strong ties to Nigeria (jobs, family, properties etc) 2. Your detailed daily itinerary for duration of stay (which can include a few days hanging out with friends in Canada) 3. State all countries you have been to, and show proof by adding (expired/current visa, visa stamp, pics of you in said countries) 4. Booked hotel proof. You can use booking.com, does not need payment till you get to Canada. 5. Breakdown of how much you intend to spend. Again with a U.S. visa, you don’t need to provide an arm and a leg. shithapuns: |

MsAnonymous:ok thanks, for clarifying that a niece doesnt make for a strong family Invitation. would approach it like i did schengen visa last year,,purely tourism, do my research on things to do/places to vissit etc, and strong mail from employer etc |

"My Recent view" Relatives in Canada: Mentioning that you have relative(s) in Canada is now becoming Red Flag in the sight of VOs or else you are applying for Super visa And if you are applying as tourist, make sure you have enough strong home ties I.e *Spouse *Property(ies) in your name *Good job/Company of your own *Statement of account of your own (not only with good balance) with good transaction history, they are more interested in your spending habits. *If you have an ongoing project kindly add it They are now interested in that thing that must bring you back home under compulsion. That you have parents or siblings back home is not part of their strong ties oo. In all be🔥Prayerful!!!🔥 Visa issuance is becoming spiritual... Cast all your burden upon the Lord!... |
