Meanwhile, I entered MTNN major office in my state and asked of ODU. They have it but I insisted on external sim which seems alien to them. They said they only have esim and don't do swaps for ODU. The manager is not open minded so I left.

I will wait until I'm sure the sim swap works before buying the ODU.

As long as it's mtn, just zero ur mind on the physical sim thing 4 now because it is new policy from the top brass in the company to make the odu an embedded sim device in order to combat retailers who keep stealing data from unactivated devices via sim swaps and reselling at lower rates 2 end users. Personally i don't mind the trade offs because for me, compared to Airtel, mtn is very reliable, i think Airtel re not serious yet.

Airtel changed my ODU number to an unknown number that has no subscription. I have never seen anything like this before.

So finally I settled on renewing my Airtel subscription because I tested and realized that the mtn issue isn't even about the ODU but rather MTN network is generally very poor in this region save for some places. (Like 2 buildings away from mine the network is so good)

For now Airtel is still maintaining 50Mbps..

I can tell you for free, MTN ODU is the best. Better than MTN fiberX even. Just have 5G in your location. It's superb. The only issue is the activation.

So for stealing data on unactivated devices, u dont have to understand that part, bottom line sha, mtn has made it mandatory for embedded sims to be used on their odu devices, even the devices are not handled by their customer service department but by their broadband team thats why the agents cant even swap even if they tried.
Maybe just stick airtel for physical sim then.

same thing happened to me without me knowing and I stopped using it thinking the odu had failed after just two months from purchase,especially after visiting their office multiple times and calling customer care multiple times without any fix from them. Then months later I noticed sub on my app even though it wasn't me and my own odu was still not working, that's when I went to their office to complain again and they started telling me the number on my odu box is not my own. After everything they gave me the number that was actually connected to my odu so at least now I can buy sub online and use it, but the problem now is I can't connect to the airtel app because of otp code and I can't change anything from their IP address because it's not my password that was used to set it up. Funny enough the person using the initial number they gave me is probably suffering from the same issue because all the otp codes and IP address password have been set by me

I don’t know if converting to physical sim will fix the issue pending the time mtn will install fiberx
