scondy:You see how I agreed with you when you mentioned how the thing affected the game, I even agreed it was unfair. In fact, you people were celebrating Gerard, and I was the first person on this thread to mention that the Obstacle 2 had been destroyed and Gerard basically walked past it. If things had stayed as they were, and Gerard won, I don’t think Igboman would be complaining like this, because thatIgboman only started making a fuss after Chimsom and Sultex beat Gerard’s time. The person that actually had it easiest with that obstacle was Gerard, yet, other people beat his time. So, was it unfair to those who had come before Cassi ans Kamsy? Yes. Could production have done more than they did to salvage the situation in that moment? No. We can ask them to do better in future, but as it stands, the crashout from igboman is getting ridiculous. I don’t know what else I’m supposed to say, but in that situation, there was absolutely nothing production could have done, and whoever won, na their luck. It could have been any of those 6 that came after Kamsy. The eventual winner even repeated that course, which is as good as him taking a break if he hit a bell. |

safarigirl:Like, I literally said this I was the first person to call out an unfair advantage. Goddessa went after Gerard and still got buzzed out by the way, so, why the thing no favour her if na so e smooth reach? |

Geezeem:In reality, a little bit of pressure is needed to increase focus, motivation and performance and lack of it may make people feel unchallenged which inevitably affects outputs. In this Gambit case, I wager those voted to fill the role will most likely stay longer with no commensurate wins to show for it. I understand the place of self motivation which in my assessment needs a bit of crystallization. When there's no immediate consequence for not doing something, the tendency to not go all out for it is high. For most hms, there's an immediate potential consequence of eviction if they fail to impress, win tasks or have major highlights. Whereas, reverse is the case for the Gambits, they have no fear which may affect how determined they are in taking activities in the house seriously. |
| Re: BBNaija 2026 (Season 11) Live Update Thread by Estellie: 11:41pm On Jul 31 |
Nexus25:The consequences of not winning tasks is not eviction, it’s losing money and rewards. For a gambit that has already lost the prize money, you do not want to lose any other reward you can get from the show, if that isn’t enough motivation then I do not know what is. |

Estellie:Exactly this |
| Re: BBNaija 2026 (Season 11) Live Update Thread by Nexus25(m): 11:47pm On Jul 31 |
safarigirl:If an obstacle is made to be an integral part of a game, the responsibility of maintaining it rests solely on the organizer. It is normal when tension is high during a game, a part of the obstacle may be tampered with, but should the game go on and create an undue advantage for some people? A level playing field should be seeing to be created for these guys, anything to the contrary is either incompetence and lack of adequate preparation from the organizer or intentional fraud to give the win to a predetermined winner |
| Re: BBNaija 2026 (Season 11) Live Update Thread by safarigirl(mod): 12:18am On Aug 01 |
Nexus25:Again, they paused the game to repair the same obstacle. There will never be such a thing as a level playing field when some people will get to make mistakes that others will learn from. They can only do their best, and in this case, their best was repairing the obstacle as much as they could. They could do nothing else, and all of you writing this thing, are being terribly unreasonable, it’s almost embarrassing. Nothing is 100%. As long as they can make it as fair as the situation allows them, that is enough. They owe you nothing else, and if you don’t like it, don’t watch the show. Na every season una dey whine, as if in your own work place, everything goes smoothly and you stop work when things don’t. Give it a rest abeg. |

Estellie:Over the years, certain qualities have consistently endeared housemates to viewers. They are but not limited to PR, physical appeal, personal circumstances whether real or crafted and how well they perform in tasks. Housemates risk eviction when by design or by game plan they fail to appeal to viewers through one or a combination of the aforementioned factors. Hence, my use of “potential consequence of eviction.” That said, all housemates know there will ultimately be a winner and to be honest, most do not believe they will win the prize money. They are content and okay with the visibility the show provides them and the platform it creates which they can always leverage for higher responsibilities. A Gambit who knows abnitio that he/she is not going to win is not motivated by the prize money. The effort and gameplay required to win other consolation prizes bear a linear relationship to the effort and gameplay needed to avoid eviction. Once the fear of eviction is removed, the effort ordinarily required to keep oneself in the game becomes unnecessary. As a result, the associated benefits may be lost. |

I find the responses from women about Araga very interesting. It reminds me, that women actually don’t like loverboys, and prefer fuckboys, and this sentiment holds true across seasons. Notice how all the men that are kind and sweet to their partners, are always insulted and attacked for that? If they wrote men like Araga or Saga or Ozo in a romance novel, they’d be the perfect partners; soft, attentive, caring. But you’re seeing them on your screen now on BBN, and they’re “foolish” boys that don’t know what they’re there for. Do I think Araga needs to socialize a little more? Yes. Do I think his ship is preventing that? No. There are just some people that keep to themselves, and once they bond with one person, they don’t fraternize heavily with others. That’s how Sooj was too, and I’d even argue Araga is far more approachable and social. Araga smiles, Sooj no dey smile. If he did not have Topher as his friend, only God know as him story for be. I hope people free Araga a bit, and let the boy be himself. Not every flower blooms early on. |

| Re: BBNaija 2026 (Season 11) Live Update Thread by safarigirl(mod): 12:41am On Aug 01 |
Nexus25:I’m sorry, but if I know I will not win the prize money, then I will be even more motivated to not leave empty handed. We had riders that put in hard work to win prizes on the show because they knew they wouldn’t win the money, where does this your theory leave them? The only negative being a gambit will bring, is that the person will not have a passionate fanbase. The people that are motivated by competition, is fans. You are projecting your mindset as a fan, on the mindset of a housemate. As a housemate, once you know you will not be the winner, you will work hard to win things, heck, housemates will even be celebrating and motivating you more, because now they know you’re not their competition for the prize, and they may have some sympathy for you. It is fans that will only support marginally, because now they cannot use you for competition. I can tell you did not watch their Diary Sessions, because quite a number of them said they wouldn’t mind being the Gambit, because staying that long means having an opportunity to win a lot of prizes, and show off your talent, and that is a gift 14 other people at least, will not have. |

You guys, I was just reading something on Araga, and the funniest memory hit me. I don’t know how many people watched BBA Hotshots, but there was this Namibian boy, I believe his name was Freddie or so (I think he’s on Young, Famous & African now). He started ship with one babe like that, only for the babe to be evicted in Week 2. The boy was so upset by her eviction, he tried to take Voluntary Exit over it. Giving y’all this backstory, because I just remembered Tayo Faniran being incredibly incensed by the behaviour, so much he nominated him for eviction the following Monday. The disgust on Tayo’s face was hilarious, baba said (not verbatim, but close enough… “Biggie, thousands of people audition every year for a spot on this show, and to think of all the people from Namibia that wanted this spot, this boy got it, and he did not even remember he’s representing a whole country, he was crying about woman he just met, and asking for Voluntary Exit. Imagine how all the other people in Namibia, that lost out to him must be feeling….” It’s one of the funniest and realest reactions to someone crashing out, and one of the reasons I enjoyed Tayo so much that season. Anyway, I was just thinking about all the people that lost out to Araga, only for baba to come and be playing love without mingling, and it drew that memory, and a laugh from me. Thank you to all who read till the end, and traveled down memory lane with my by 1AM. |

safarigirl:On the surface, your postulation appears correct but when you dig deeper, you find that reality actually invalidates it. The circumstances of the riders you referenced strengthen the point I made earlier. Riders put in effort because their stay in the house depended on how well they could ride. They were not assured of anything and because of that they were motivated to give their best. The prizes they won were simply by‑products of the effort they invested in staying in the game. But in the case of the Gambits, they are assured of their place potentially till the final. They do not need to put in any effort to remain in the house. Like you narrated, many of them even said they would not mind being Gambits because as I mentioned they know the show will ultimately produce only one winner. So, most are motivated by the desire to stay long enough and not by the desire to win. When you are handed a free pass to the final, the effort ordinarily required to keep you in the game may reduce and so are the potential benefits. |
| Re: BBNaija 2026 (Season 11) Live Update Thread by Nexus25(m): 1:36am On Aug 01 |
Geezeem:There is no direct reference or implied inference to them quitting in my posts. The core of my contribution is to establish the linear relationship between success as we understand it and the moderate pressure required to crystallise motivation (whether self‑driven or externally induced) in order to achieve that success. Success requires moderate pressure and when that pressure is removed, it is my opinion that it weakens motivation. |

| Re: BBNaija 2026 (Season 11) Live Update Thread by safarigirl(mod): 7:34am On Aug 01 |
Nexus25:No. They’re motivated by the desire to stay longer and showcase their skills. If you tell someone they have a specific amount of time to live, more often than not, it gives them the drive to achieve more. They draw up a bucket list and try to tick everything off It is the same motivation being a Gambit gives you. It gives you certainty. You know you don’t have to deal with eviction jitters anymore, but you know you won’t get the money, so, you’re motivated to put yourself out there regularly- you won’t even have to play nice with housemates to avoid nominations anymore. If you would sleep off because you’re assured of finale, that’s fine, but I don’t imagine the housemates will have your mindset |

safarigirl:I find it interesting that your examples are the direct opposite of what we observe in our contemporary society. When people become aware that they have limited time to live, the motivation to build that business empire, build that dream house, even the desire to pursue that expansive exploration wil mostly vapourize. I am mindful that a few respond differently and they become heavily invested in making a lasting impact before their final breath. In fact in socioemotional selectivity, once time as we understand it is perceived with certainty and limitation, people become less concerned with expansive exploration. Instead of that what people do is to prioritize stability and relaxation. As humans we are generally inclined to conserve energy and even so avoid putting effort until moderate pressure forces us to do otherwise. At the end of this show, this discussion will be revisited and we shall take stock. Can you debate without getting personal? It is a character flaw. |

I hope Chimsom never wins HOH again. He's such a control freak. Who am I kidding. He'll get to be HOH many times until he gets evicted. Talking to the housemates as though they're kids. |
