Reps defer bill to ban unbranded, unfortified cooking oils after lawmakers raise concerns

The House of Representatives on Wednesday deferred further consideration of a bill seeking to outlaw the production, importation, distribution, sale and consumption of unbranded and unfortified edible oils after lawmakers expressed divergent views over its implications for public health, existing regulations and the livelihoods of local producers.

The bill, sponsored by the member representing Ehime/Mbano/Ihitte Uboma/Obowo Federal Constituency of Imo State, Chike Okafor, was slated for second reading but was stepped down following calls for wider consultations and better circulation of copies among members.

Presenting the proposed legislation, Okafor said it was intended to tackle health risks associated with the widespread consumption of unbranded cooking oils, which he said account for a significant share of the products consumed in Nigeria.

He told lawmakers that available data showed about 67 per cent of Nigerians consume unbranded edible oils, while only 31 per cent of edible oils in circulation are fortified.

The lawmaker cited the World Health Organisation as identifying food fortification as an effective and cost-efficient strategy for addressing micronutrient deficiencies and improving public health.

According to him, the bill seeks to prohibit the production, importa...

This is a test, not a favour. Show us what you can do.

We are looking for quality, consistency, and engagement.

One Nairaland. One Wishifier. One Opportunity.

20k monthly to do all the above? How much is data?

You are absolutely right, data cost is a real concern, and we took that into consideration.

That is exactly why we reduced the workload from 7 posts daily to just 4 posts daily (3 news posts + 1 extra post). That is light, fast, and data-friendly. Anyone can handle it without breaking the bank on data.

And with ₦20,000 monthly, your data and time are well covered.

I hope this clears things up. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Alex80s:
20k monthly to do all the above? How much is data?

20K monthly for all these criteria?

Laughs hysterically!

It's only desperation that would make an ENGINEERING student do his I.T in a Police station.

God abeg o!

You are absolutely right. We have reviewed and updated the requirements accordingly.

The updated requirements are now:

19,015 views and above on your topics
2,436 topics created
to
2,000+ views and above on your topics
500+ topics created

The barrier has been lowered, but we still expect you to be a legitimate uploader with genuine interactions and honest engagement. We are not looking for just anyone. We are looking for people who are already active and trusted on the platform.

We are not desperate for uploaders. Wishifier already runs ads on Nairaland and other platforms. This opportunity is simply for forum members who want to earn extra income while doing what they already do for free.

This is a win-win arrangement. You post, you earn. Simple.

Still interested? Drop your test topic link below and let's see what you've got.

20k monthly is not even upto a thousand naira per day in 30days lol

You are right, ₦20,000 is not a million naira. But let me break it down for you.

4 posts per day is the requirement. That means you can finish all your daily posts in less than 15 minutes. So you are making ₦20,000 for less than 8 hours of work per month. That is over ₦2,500 per hour.

For copy and paste work that you already do for free on Nairaland, that is a fair deal.

Not everyone is looking for a full-time salary. Some people want extra income on the side while doing what they already enjoy. This opportunity is for those people. We are not looking for engineers. We already have professional full-stack developers for that.

Wishifier already runs ads on Nairaland and other platforms. We are not desperate. We are simply giving forum members a chance to earn.

If you think it is not worth your time, no problem. This opportunity is not for everyone. But for those who understand the value of easy recurring income, it is a good deal.

Alex80s:
20k monthly to do all the above? How much is data?

Data alone would be minimum of ₦6k...

In reality it is a ₦14k gig (about ₦1k only for every 10 post/edit).

It is side gig sha. There is someone that needs this.

maximaxi:
That means you can finish all your daily posts in less than 15 minutes. So you are making ₦20,000 for less than 8 hours of work per month. That is over ₦2,500 per hour.

Let's be honest. If it was as simple as 15 minutes work per day, you would do it easily before you brush you teeth (and have your ₦20k in your pocket).

They are visiting your site, copying your article, pasting here, then editing to make it readable to the code here on Nairaland... Four posts should be between 20 to 60 minutes. Every single day

You are absolutely right. Data cost is a real concern, and we took that into consideration.

But here is the real breakdown.

4 posts per day is the requirement. That means you finish everything in less than 25 minutes daily. That is roughly 12 hours of work per month. For ₦20,000, that is over ₦1,600 per hour.

Let us even factor in your ₦6,000 data cost. That brings the net pay to ₦14,000. That is still over ₦1,100 per hour for copy and paste work that you already do for free on Nairaland.

Also, this is text-only copy and paste, not video upload. 4 posts will not even take up to 5MB of data daily. So your data cost will actually be much lower than ₦6,000.

The workload is light. It is not 10 posts. It is 4 posts per day. That means 120 posts per month. ₦14,000 divided by 120 posts is about ₦116 per post. That is fair for copy and paste.

Plus, we are guaranteed to increase this in the future to ₦100,000 depending on loyal and consistent workers. This is just the starting point. If you prove yourself, the reward will grow with you.

We are not looking for full-time employees. We are giving forum members a chance to earn extra income while doing what they already enjoy. Wishifier already runs ads on multiple platforms. We are not desperate. We are simply offering an opportunity.

If it works for you, great. If not, no problem. This is not for everyone.

Are you interested?

I can do it... There was a time I was growing a YouTube channel (it has since been demonetized and the channel deleted). My OTHER Nairaland profile has more than 35 topics (out of 70 posts) that hit front page (no exaggeration)... The only thing is, let the article be ready before 6am (preferably 4am, to increase the chance of hitting front page) and you pay up front.

You make a fair point. 15 minutes might be optimistic, and I appreciate you breaking down the real time it takes.

Let us be realistic.

Yes, you will need to visit Wishifier, copy the article, paste it here, and edit it to fit Nairaland's formatting. 4 posts could take between 20 to 40 minutes daily, depending on how fast you are.

But here is the thing. If you follow the format template I provided in the description, it becomes straightforward and time is reduced heavily. And when you do it consistently, it becomes easier and faster each time you repeat it. The process becomes muscle memory.

That is roughly 15 to 20 hours of work per month.

Now let us do the math again.

₦20,000 divided by 15 hours is about ₦1,333 per hour. Even at 20 hours, that is ₦1,000 per hour. That is still fair for copy and paste work that you already do for free on Nairaland.

And remember, this is text-only. No video uploads. No heavy data consumption. Plus, we are guaranteed to increase this to ₦100,000 in the future for loyal and consistent workers.

We are not asking anyone to quit their job. We are simply giving forum members a chance to earn extra income while doing what they already enjoy.

If the math works for you, great. If not, no problem. This opportunity is not for everyone.

We will be reviewing the best test posts in the next 48 hours or first ten uploaders. If you believe you have what it takes, drop your link below and let us see your work.

I appreciate your confidence and your history with front-page topics. That is exactly the kind of experience we are looking for.

Let me address your points directly.

For the timing, we can provide articles early enough for you to post before 6am. That is not a problem. We want the best chance for front-page visibility just like you do.

Also, Wishifier was coded from scratch by elite developers to operate fully on auto. New news and other contents fetch smartly every minute, so you will never lack content to post. It is always fresh and ready.

As for payment, we do not pay upfront for new uploaders. That is not how we operate. We pay ₦5,000 upfront after the first week of consistent work, and the remaining ₦15,000 at month-end. This protects both parties and ensures commitment from both sides.

We are serious about this partnership and we are looking for serious people. If you are as good as you say you are, the payment will never be an issue because you will always have work to do.

Drop your test topic link below so we can see your work. If you deliver quality and engagement, you will be selected.

Let's see what you've got.

Assuming all criterias are met and you qualify for your 20k earnings for that month, you would have been paid 500-600 naira daily, assuming you don't work on Sundays give or take ... Hmmm okay ...

You are right about the math. Let me break it down properly.

The offer is ₦20,000 per month. 4 posts per day, Monday to Sunday. That is 120 posts per month.

If you remove Sundays, that is about 104 posts per month. ₦20,000 divided by 104 posts is about ₦192 per post.

Now let us be honest. ₦192 per post for copy and paste work that takes less than 10 minutes each is not a bad deal. You are making over ₦1,100 per hour for work you already do for free on Nairaland.

And remember, this is just the starting point. We are guaranteed to increase this to ₦100,000 monthly for loyal and consistent workers. So if you prove yourself, the daily rate will multiply significantly.

We are not offering a full-time salary. We are offering side income for people who already enjoy posting on Nairaland. If you are consistent, the reward grows with you.

The opportunity is there for those who see the value.
