Family's van stolen during graduation trip

A Dutch family who drove from the Netherlands for their daughter's graduation have had their van stolen.

Possessions, money and medication belonging to University of Wolverhampton graduate Elizabeth Ajose's parents were inside, when it was taken from Bewdley Drive in the city on Sunday night.

The family is appealing for help to try to trace the white van.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said they understood the upset and frustration the theft of the vehicle had caused the family.

On CCTV footage recorded from a home on the street, three people with hoods on were seen approaching the Ford Transit, which contained luggage.

The thieves were seen backing the vehicle into a car before driving the van away.

The graduate's parents, father Femi and mother Hannah Ajose, said they have lost all their clothes, credit cards and a substantial amount of money.

They did go to the graduation but admitted they were still in shock.

Elizabeth Ajose said: "My mum was like crying, 'oh, our stuff's [not] in there'.

"Even our pet food was still in there.... everything was in the van."

Her mother said: "I cried all through, because I wasn't happy.

"I [was] supposed to be happy that day, but I was sad all through, crying."

Passports, which were in a bag but not in the van, were not taken.

Both parents, who are now stranded, have serious health problems and all their medication was in the vehicle.

They will find the van though valuables might have been taken by the jackets, but they will definitely be tracked down later. This is not Nigeria where even police you went to report will tell you (Sope Otilor) (E don go).

Kudos to the parents. They still attended the graduation despite their distress.

Very likely they left seeming valuables in view. Since it's in a 'saner clime', I am optimistic the van will be found and the thieves will be apprehended

It is obvious that the Ajose family naturalized in Holland ( Netherlands ). Their daughter must have been born in the Netherlands while the parents came to Netherlands as immigrants and got their Dutch passports years later. To be honest, plenty theft occurs in the West Midlands. Pretty hard for blacks to receive adequate help from Police in that region of England. I wish the Ajose family the best as they try to get back their Van and other valuables 🙏.

Usually people that have never left their villages post trash like this.
Millions of vehicles are stolen and never to be seen again in the UK, US and many other countries.
Many are chopped up, exported or even simply changed VIN number and registered under a different name.
Una go just they talk like Oyinbo land is just perfect. No where is perfect.

They are Nigerian immigrants who naturalised and became citizen of the Netherlands.

As for the Van, it’s gone. They won’t see it. UK have black market for stolen goods.

This family didn’t exercise caution in the UK, since they assumed that it’s safe like the Netherlands.

Netherlands is a country where the government are actively closing prisons due to low crime.

I hope they get their stolen property back but I am pessimistic.

That's what happens when you allowed immigrants unnecessarily into your country in the name of Education or whatever. Everything has its repercussions.

"Both parents, who are now stranded, have serious health problems and all their medication was in the vehicle."

Just imagine what those heartless people have caused.
Part of the reason why I don't feel remorse when a thief is caught and being punished...as long as the thief is guilty of the act...
Re: Family's Van Stolen During Graduation Trip In UK (Photo) by AfDapone: 6:47am On Aug 02
These days, any car is stealable with right tools. You just have to be very theft conscious if you are going to be far away from your car.

One of the thieves can monitor you while other members are at the nefarious act.

Multiple tracking devices are very crucial. Even if a car stolen, you might be a able to track down the car in time before the thief get to disarm the trackers.

Multiple kill switches are also good antitheft solution. All those pedal, steering locks only delay thieves for just 3 to 5 minutes after they open the door.
