Spiderman was nice... I enjoyed it. I'm tired of zendayas acting, she's good with her facial expressions but lacks range. She looks like the same character in every movie. I kept seeing rue from euphoria. At a point I didn't even know who her character was. The original Mary Jane(Kristin dunst) was way better and hotter. The punisher should be changed too.. the guys acting it isn't good tbh. All in all good movie, comic relief wasn't too much.. Spoiler alert they added the second most powerful X-Men. |

SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY REVIEW I'll start with this: Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the second-best Tom Holland Spider-Man movie so far. It's not perfect. The film has some glaring flaws, but it also has some genuinely fantastic moments. When it's firing on all cylinders, it's absolutely incredible. Unfortunately, a few major creative decisions hold it back. Even so, the positives outweigh the negatives. There's a lot to unpack, so let's start with what the movie gets right. THE PROS Action The action is phenomenal. This is, without question, the best action we've ever seen in a Tom Holland Spider-Man film. Huge credit goes to Daniel Destin Cretin. The man clearly understands how Spider-Man should move. From the web-swinging to the camera work, every fight feels fluid and energetic. Spider-Man constantly uses his surroundings to his advantage, making every battle feel dynamic. It genuinely feels like you're watching someone play a high-budget Spider-Man video game. More importantly, Spider-Man actually behaves like Spider-Man. He's not just punching villains. He's rescuing civilians, preventing collateral damage, and thinking several steps ahead while fighting. That's exactly what I want to see from the character. The action scenes involving Hulk were easily my favourite. If Marvel lets Destin Daniel Cretton direct more Spider-Man movies, I won't complain. The Cast Tom Holland delivers his best performance as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. He's the emotional core of the movie, and he carries it effortlessly. His dramatic scenes hit hard, and he completely sells Peter's loneliness after the events of the previous film. The biggest surprise for me was his chemistry with Frank Castle. If you had told me before watching this movie that Spider-Man and Punisher would become one of the best duos in the MCU, I would've laughed. They bounce off each other perfectly. I was also happy to see Ned and MJ return. Even though they no longer know Peter Parker, their chemistry with Spider-Man feels stronger than it ever has. Peter and MJ, in particular, have incredible chemistry in this movie. I kept wondering why it took four films to reach this level. There's a conversation between them behind a curtain in Punisher's base that genuinely made me smile. Another standout moment is when Peter, Ned, and MJ are simply sitting together in Ned's apartment talking like old friends. It's easily the best scene the trio has shared across all four movies. Bruce Banner/Hulk is... fine. He's mostly there to move the plot forward and provide fan service. Aside from one excellent action sequence, he doesn't have much to do. Aunt May also returns in a flashback, and it's one of the most emotional scenes in the entire movie. Yelena makes a brief cameo. As always, she's an absolute delight. The Story (First Half) I really enjoyed the first hour. Watching Peter struggle with his mutation while trying to rebuild his life after losing everyone was surprisingly heartfelt. For once, he has to solve his problems alone. No Avengers. No mentor. No friends. Just Peter trying to survive. The mystery introduced during the first half kept me invested. Unfortunately... The second half completely falls apart. --- THE CONS ⚠️ SPOILERS BELOW Jean Grey Jean Grey is the main villain of this movie... ...and I hated almost everything about that decision. The film had me hooked until the reveal. The mystery was engaging. The tension kept building. Then Jean Grey was revealed as the mastermind, and that's where the movie lost me. Spider-Man deserved a proper Spider-Man villain. Someone genuinely terrifying. Someone whose presence naturally fits into Peter's world. Instead, the movie gives us a villain it desperately wants to redeem. I wasn't buying it. Not for a second. Jean murders innocent people. She hijacks people's minds without their consent. She psychologically tortures civilians just to get under Spider-Man's skin. At one point, she mind-controls an elderly man and walks him into oncoming traffic. Later, she takes control of MJ and tries to throw her off a building. Those aren't morally grey actions. Those are the actions of a murderer. Yet the movie bends over backwards trying to convince us she's misunderstood because of her tragic past. Sorry. That doesn't work for me. Having a sad backstory doesn't erase the people you killed. What disappointed me even more was Peter himself. Near the end, Spider-Man insists Jean isn't a murderer. But... she literally murdered people. Peter witnessed some of it himself. She killed innocent civilians. Destroyed property. Hospitalised countless people. Tried to murder MJ. And yet she walks away without facing any real consequences. No justice. No accountability. Nothing. Peter even risks his own life to save her. By the end, I wasn't sympathising with Jean. I was questioning the movie's moral compass. This is one of the most iconic X-Men characters ever created, and Marvel's introduction is to make her a mass murderer. That's certainly a choice. Personally, I would've preferred a classic Spider-Man villain. Mr. Negative. Green Goblin. Doctor Octopus. Electro. Venom. Any one of them would've made for a stronger and more personal story. Honestly, Hulk wasn't even necessary. Replace him with Curt Connors/Lizard and the story still works. Spider-Man has one of the greatest rogues' galleries in comic book history. Only Batman arguably has a better one. So why make an X-Men character the main villain? Scorpion appears. The Hand appears. But neither is given enough screen time to matter. They're basically there to serve the action scenes. X-Men Setup My other major issue is that the second half stops feeling like a Spider-Man movie. Instead, it becomes a setup for the MCU's X-Men. Why? Why use a Spider-Man movie to introduce the X-Men when they could have their own film? It feels like Spider-Man's story takes a back seat so Marvel can move the wider universe forward. Imagine what could've been introduced instead. Oscorp. Black Cat. Miles Morales. Green Goblin. Doctor Octopus. Sandman. Electro. Venom. Gwen Stacy. There are so many Spider-Man stories still waiting to be told. Instead, we spend a huge chunk of the movie laying the groundwork for another franchise. That was disappointing. Peter Parker Tom Holland is excellent. Peter Parker, however, feels underdeveloped. Outside of being Spider-Man, we know almost nothing about his life. Does he have a job? Is he still in school? How does he pay rent? The movie never tells us. Yet he somehow lives alone in an apartment filled with expensive technology, complete with an AI assistant. Compare that to Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker, who worked as both a photographer and pizza delivery man and still struggled to pay rent. This version of Peter feels oddly disconnected from the everyday struggles that have always defined the character. Final Thoughts Spider-Man: Brand New Day is an entertaining superhero film with spectacular action, Tom Holland's best performance as Spider-Man, and a fantastic first half. Unfortunately, the second half loses focus. A weak central villain, an unconvincing redemption arc, and the decision to prioritise setting up the X-Men over telling a stronger Spider-Man story stop the movie from reaching its full potential. Final Rating: 7/10

The Odessy or however it's spelt. 3/10 I was almost bored to death. Again zendaya acting and I don't know her purpose in the movie. Also that punisher guy. Seems Hollywood has turned to Nollywood of the old, where jim iyke, omotola and co are in all the movies. It's boring let's be honest. A good movie is one you'd definitely see twice, this isn't it. There's nothing to even review, the casting is everywhere, Jason Bourne doesn't in anyway look like a leader, Tom Hollands voice doesn't suit that "era". It's a messy movie. Thank God I didn't waste 14k to watch this over hyped crap at silverbird. |

Now that I've seen Brand New Day, this is how I would rank every Spider-Man movie. Spider-Man 2 is still the greatest. Sam Raimi created an absolute masterpiece and it remains untouchable to this day. Spiderverse is high up on my list because it's that good. ![]()

Watched Spiderman brand new day yesterday I enjoyed myself and this is the best Tom Holland Spiderman movie imho in fact I will rank it slightly higher than No way home and below Tobey Maguire's Spiderman 2, he has finally matured into a man ![]() Great performances from Tom Holland and Sadie Sink (no surprises here) and I'm slowly warming up to Zendaya's MJ, Bernthal was decent as punisher and we finally got the real hulk back. There were surprisingly great emotional moments in this movie which I liked and the action sequences were great. SPOILER ALERT ❗ ❗ ❗ (not really we all know this by now) Interesting way to introduce mutants to the MCU with the introduction of Jean Grey, I'm intrigued to see how they bring in the rest of them after secret wars. Overall 8/10 By the way, Cinema was packed and time slots sold out, maybe cinema culture isn't dead in Nigeria afterall. |

Spider-Man: Brand New Day was very okay for me. It’s my second favorite in the Holland franchise after Far From Home. For some reason, I’ve watched that movie five times, meanwhile the others got only one repeat viewing. Marvel will make close to if not a billion dollars from it. Sony will be motivated to finally release the third SpiderVerse movie next year. Why did the mutation all of a sudden not remain a problem in the movie? It existed then… got cleared when he learned to target it? The cop out of that Hulk fight was a letdown. I enjoyed the emotional scene at the end. The woman was an omega level telepath. There was no way webbing her up would do anything. Also, Ned did not remember Peter at the end. Dr Strange’s spell should not be that weak. |

WTF? Spider-Man is a money making genius. Good Lord!! Disney & Marvel about to recoup all losses from what ever BO flops they've made in the past 1 year from this movie alone. This is amazingly scary.

BlackManta:I don't know man. Green goblin again?? That villain has been over flogged. Peter even fought all these guys in no way home, so I don't know how he would have fought them again. You complained about the movie setting up stuff. Of course it's a brand new day, a fresh start. Venom is still down the line, possibly need becoming a future villain. Scorpion and the hand will return. It's a fantastic movie. Who does he even want to fight/save yet when he's just discovering himself? I believe those villains will only ever appear when there's a reboot. |

Hi meobizy:Then there's the angle of ned having some sort of powers not yet discovered. Remember he use stranges's magic ring in NWH. Even dr strange was questioned him as to how he used it. The spell wasn't broken, but was disturbed. |
