When badly installed, there will be roof leaks. There is also a fear that their house could go up in flames. Ironically, the same landlord also allows tenants to put generators anywhere they please and store petrol in their homes, without thinking that it's a fire hazard.
ná so my landlord dey fear too say solar panel dey burn house.

I ask him where he saw that he said online.. as for me na why I prefer binding wire to avoid roof leakage

please let us know if adding more panels improves your yeild. Alot of use are having similar issues. 🙏
Update grin : I had 4 550w iwin energy panels earlier and I bought 3 590w Jinko panels on Friday and did carport on the 3 Jinko panels and left the 4 already connected on the roof like that. The installer did a series connection on all the panels. Although the weather wasn't good enough like that, I saw a whooping 2.9kw, almost reached 3kw before the sun went down, I haven't seen this type of yield before, it was flowing seamlessly,my inverter fan no longer makes that loud sound whenever sun comes up, the fan is just flowing smoothly and quietly , I think I should be getting more than 3.5 -3.6kw out of 3.9kw panel yield. Will bring down the ones from the roof and carport them too. I now see the reason why people go for Jinko panels grin grin. It's so amazing, I'm so happy, will upgrade my batteries soon.

By the way, how is yours performing, more especially this rainy season.
Not been easy, I do complement with grid sometimes, and sales become low with the rain

Binding wires might seem like a way to avoid roof leaks by skipping roof penetrations, but mounting rails are not just for aesthetics; they play a crucial role in regulating a solar panel's temperature by elevating it off the hot roof to allow airflow underneath.

Because high temperatures significantly reduce solar panel performance, proper rail mounting is essential.

But I guess sacrificing PV efficiency and risking panels falling off the roof is a trade-off some are willing to make to further prevent possible leaks.

yes you're right.. binding wire are cool for flat roof hence it can't easily fall off like using binding wires for a bent roof or V roof..

For me,Temperature can be normal if it's not aluminium roof or pan.. slate doesn't generate much heat like aluminium roof or pan does.

Your customers do the same. A quotation isn't the end of a conversation, it's the start of one. The installer who keeps answering questions and following up professionally usually wins the job, even when they weren't the cheapest. What's the biggest reason your customers go quiet after a quotation — price, trust, or something else?
You are very correct sir, 100%. I wanted battery and I asked some couple of supplier, I also asked Valto, everyone sent quotes, and I asked honest question of what is your take on the types of batteries, Valto is the only one that gave honest and unbiased review on all the types of batteries and even advised if I am not buoyant enough for now I can go for the other ones with reasons etc, I bought from him just because of his honesty. so you are very correct sir.

Here’s a useful tip if you’re new to buying cables locally: bring a cable lug that matches the size of the cable you plan to buy (for example, a 6mm lug for a 6mm cable). Strip the cable and test it; if your 6mm lug can fit two cores of that '6mm' cable, it's fake/under-gauge-you should run o!

Google, my friend. Google.

A simple “Cable Lug” on Google can save you this stress.

This is exactly why some installers or builders don’t answer your questions. A lazy culture.

don't worry it will start making noise again later, same thing happened to me after I upgraded my panels.

Your mppt went cold during the installation that's why, after the installation you turned the breaker on and it started blazing with the fans on low speed.

Check back tomorrow and give me feedback 😂

The copper connector you see here is a cable lug, and in this attached image, we have two types of 35mm² cable lugs( with different bolt stud sizes: M8 and M10)

See how snugly the exposed copper cable fits inside the lug? That means this cable, in this example, is a full-gauge 35mm².

You can buy different sizes of these cable lugs: 6mm², 10mm², 16mm², 35mm², 50mm², etc -to work with. If a cable seller gives you wire, peel it small and try a size check with your cable lug. grin

If it's too loose, wahala dey oh! grin

I still can't comprehend why some landlords no like solar panels on their roof
Until one builds their own House, it is always difficult to walk in the Shoes of a House Owner, but here are a few reasons:

- The Landlord may KNOW that his Roof is not strong enough for additional weight (and all these high capacity Panels are very heavy, 60Kg+ each!)
- Landlord may be afraid his Roof will start leaking, after the installation, a lot of Roofs have had such experience.
- Landlord may be afraid his Roof will be destroyed when tenant finally tires to remove his Panels, on moving out. (Some Landlords insist on a signed agreement that if you install, you cant remove it on moving out, your choice.)
- Some Landlord are afraid a tenant's Panels may catch fire (just as Landlords own do!) and burn down their House. grin

But in my own opinion, l think a tenant should come to an amicable agreement with his Landlord.
Foe example, a Landlord can buy the Panels (or the Tenant buys it) and install it on the Roof, supervised properly by the Landlord and the Cost of the Panels amortized over say 5 years (if bought by Tenant) or amortized to the Landlord (if bought by Landlord) or even rented out to the tenant, for some yearly Fee.

Removing an installed Panel from the Roof is the Redline, for most Landlord.
One it goes up, it can only come down when Re-Roofing the Building

Any Landlord that allows Tenants to put generators ANYWHERE or put Petrol INSIDE their Flat, probably has No Choice of where else they can put it.
Most Smart House Owners usually design a Generator Bay, far from the Building, where everyone keeps their Generators.

But the difference between the Fire Hazard from a Generator, compared with a Panel installed on the Roof, is that if the Generator catches fire, it is easily noticeable, on the Ground (or Balcony) and can be more easily put out, compared with when a Panel on the Roof of say, a two Strorey Building which catches Fire! shocked
Even Fire Brigade cant help you in that case, their Water Cannon cant go that far upwards and the House usually burn to the ground
That is if they came with Water at all or are not insisting you transfer over #5Million to their Account before doing anything, while your House is burning!. angry grin

Those who engage in that sort of duplicity and cheating of Customers, need to be arrested and jailed for at least ten years. angry

WHY?
They spoil Business for Honest Traders, Counterfeit other People's Hardwork (Products), make a very Big Profit out of the Counterfeiting and then endanger the lives of the Buyers who have No clue they have bought a product that is Counterfeit and puts their life in danger (like Catching Fire)

If SIZE of the Core is the only problem, e for good, but QUALITY is even a bigger problem!
- But some sell Iron Cable, sprayed with Copper paint to you, as 100% Copper Cable!
- Some mix 30% Copper, with 70% recycled Iron (Iron Condemn!) and sell it to you as pure 100% Copper cable!
- Some sell a long Copper Cable (say 10Meters) having the first One Meter as Copper, with the next 8Meters as Iron, and the last One Meter as Copper!

I recently compared the 6inches Cement Blocks from other Countries, with the one produced in Nigeria, Shame catch me. No Wonder Houses collapse here anyhow.

If not that our Standard Organization (NSO) and other regulatory Agencies like NAFDAC (Fake Drugs), etc are all about collecting Bribes, and not doing their duties as enshrined in law, a lot of these Traders of fake Goods should be rotting in Jail.
Themselves and Politicians have ruined Nigeria

My own would be NO Gas cookers. I fear that thing pass generator. If you must use Gen, you go get where the Gen go dey as not in main building.

Another is, for non slate / gerrad (stone coated) roofing sheets, any dent is a potential issue for leakage as any small water / moisure that stays there would rust it and start leaking.

that's where binding wire comes in now.

Although binding wire works for a straight roof not a slant roof. So to me panels doesn't burn easily like that, landlords are only skeptical about roof leakage

it's one of the reasons why when assisting people from Nairaland via whatsApp or those who call and promise to give contract, I stop them mis-sentence while informing them there's no difference between how I would respond to them giving us the project and other wise.

Even when they insist otherwise, I trust them like the Police trusts a criminal is innocent. na when you don commmit financially I dey ever know say you mean.

It's what helps me not get frustrated. Of course if my reason for responding was to get projects, I for don give up since.

Mind you, personally, If I wouldn't patronize you, or not sure, often times I am straight with such person BUT then again, not everyOne is as stewPid as I can be.

Of course, some are there to compare quotes, among others.

In life, just position yourself enough pressure to get next payCheck off that potential client is nonExistent. Of course most go still believe say dem dey do you good whereAs it's mutual

There's something binding wire wouldn't do that those mounting rails would o: help allow more air flow BUT then again, you could achieve similar using binding wire and wood BUT that's extra stressful and except you're intentional or paying the installer extra for such (which defeats the financial savings if that's your reason for not using mounting rails).
