Chai..pepper snacks those years grin what of goody goody chocolate candieshuh Our favorite game those years was bottle seals (canta) leagues. Back then, we used to look forward to NTA's 8:00PM programmes. On Mondays, it was Zone 9. On Tuesdays, we had "Soliatre." On Wednesdays, it was "This is us" or something like that. Then, on Thursdays, we had the very best of all times, the real baba of TV programmes, "Super Story," by Wale Adenuga Production, with that their slogan, "we are nothing but pencils in the hands of the creator grin" and that their very emotional theme song..."This is super story, a life of strife and sorrows.... ; grin... Missing this one was like a death sentence. Then on fridays, it was "Who Wants to be a Millionaire." On Saturdays, it was football matches, both old and new, from morning till evening, especially on DBN (Delta Broadcasting Network). We also used to rush home from school every evening to watch either "Tom and Jerry" or "My Book of Bible Stories" cartoons. What of hiring movies? Me and my three siblings, plus our housemaid used to contribute #5 naira each to hire a #30 naira movie from hiring centers especially during school holidays. We would watched the movies after we had done all our house chores for the day. Then we return the movies back to the hiring centers grin l can give anything to go back to those good old days l sweargrin
Most of these ones mentioned didn't really shake things. I guess you never watched behind the clouds, checkmate, ichioku, Willie Willie, Samanja and others. Wale Adenuga production started in 2000+. I was already a graduate then. I watched most of his series but trust me, it was nothing compared to what we have back then. Did you watch cartoons like Popeye, Voltron defender of the universe, zero, Scooby Dooby doo, super ted?

seconded,a time where you have nothing to worry about, can Nigeria reclaim her glory?
The question should not be "Can Nigeria reclaim her glory?". Rather the right question to ask is this: Are Nigerians, including leaders and followers, ready to do the right things to make Nigeria a glorious place?.

For instance, how many Nigerians are ready to stop cutting corners even if they have to go through some inconveniences?

Beautiful memories.

My axis then was Tin Can and later Mile2.....Koso game on the ground, playing whot cards....

You finish chewing gums then use wrap as tattoo on the skin. Biscuits then were more quality then including the sweet, salty crackers. Sardines were affordable, just to ask that I needed to buy it from parents so I taste it( the one at neighbor's shop) besides the overloaded imported and local food at home.

Though even at that time there were still poor people whose parents ( both)couldn't afford things or private schools

Re: Gone Are The Good Old Childhood Days Of Yore by engrchykae(m): 8:19am On Aug 07
The good old days when humans still have their souls.
When children were really children and Adults were Adults.
When the training of a child is the responsibility of the compound not an exclusive of the parents.
When people hear an emergency vehicle break, the whole community rushes out to the accident scene with axes Incase the doors are jammed in order to rescue accident victims.
Nowadays, they will rush to the scene with cameras and ring lights.
How did we get here?we are becoming soulless as the days go by.

I will take the time we’re in now over then. 10 times out of 10.

themanderon:
You wouldn't understand the damage technology has done to our collective psyche unless you experienced these good ol times. Humans were more alive, related with themselves better, and lived happier lives even when your family was not so rich.
Nigeria was far better with better power supply, infact we used to put off our fridges then because the ice became excessive as power could stay on for days without interruption, can you do that today even with band A? The economy was much better as the smallest denomination could buy you something tangible, families were more closer and shared time together even with extended family members, there was no phone,no social media just pure fun being around family and friends.
Life was more innocent ,relaxed and fun, and people felt more alive than they do these days. Today it's all mechanical and humans behave more like programmed robots. Get more money, isolate yourself from family and friends. We are all too busy with our phones than noticing those around us.
There is a throwback video I see on tiktok that shows America of the eighties and early nineties. The nostalgia that video gives me is out of this world .

Movies like "sound of music" there was a chewing gum they sell for 50kobo, it's twisted at both end... Something "banana".
An exercise book with someone tie to a stick in a manner like they are roasting the person.
