APC Rejects Orji Kalu's Endorsement of Otti's Re-election Bid


The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from comments attributed to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu suggesting that Governor Alex Otti of the Labour Party would be re-elected in the 2027 governorship election.
In a statement signed by the party's State Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the APC said the senator's remarks were his personal opinion and did not reflect the official position, aspirations or collective resolve of the party in Abia State.
The party described the comments as unfortunate, insisting that its members and supporters remained committed to unseating the Labour Party-led administration in the 2027 elections.
According to the APC, the party is united and focused on winning the governorship election as well as other elective positions in the state, maintaining that Governor Otti has not done enough to merit another term in office.
The statement further claimed that Abians would use the February 6, 2027 governorship election to demand accountability and elect leaders committed to transparency, prudent management of public resources and improved welfare for the people.
The APC also urged its members and supporters not to be distracted by what it described as individual opinions, stressing that the party remained determined to reclaim power in the state.
The party expressed confidence that it would secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the presidential election, win the state's three senatorial seats, all eight House of Representatives seats and the 24 seats in the Abia State House of Assembly.
It also reaffirmed its support for Dr. Eric Chinemeucheya Opah as its preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election, expressing optimism that he would emerge as the next governor of Abia State.
The statement emphasized that no individual's opinion, regardless of status, would weaken the party's resolve to pursue what it described as purposeful leadership and political change in the state.

Where is the lie in what I posted?
Is Alex Oti a bad governor?
Orji despite being a member of APC recognizes the developmental strides of the Governor and states an obvious truth that people of Abia state will vote massively for Oti and make him win, only for the APC in Abia state to start talking trash. They should have just kept quiet.

I understand your sentiments but APC is a political party. They have a governorship candidate and Orji Kalu being the biggest figure in Abia APC, endorsing Otti, is like saying APC is supporting Obi hence you see APC distancing herself from the statement.

The APC Candidiate in Abia will lose fantastically. Infact, if Doris Ogala play her game well, she fit pass am for votes. The APC Candidate came from the US, it's his dollars people want. Ben Kalu is using him to hold forte for his failed ambition in 2031.

If OUK attacks Otti again, he will also lose fantastically.

I know how you mean. I'm talking about APC as a political party. It's normal for the party chairman to protect the party interest. Or else they've agreed to support Otti and the party hasn't decided on that.
