Businessman Ademuyiwa knocks car spotters and Lekki street boys. He blames the begging pandemic that forced his restaurant to shutdown as customers were no longer willing to come because of extortion by the beggars.

Everything about Lagos now is a mess...... I pity some of those stupid people that enjoy rubbish praises and bring out money from their car just to shine their ugly face and dirty teeth for the camera while giving it to those boys..... Many are now encouraged to go into begging and the street now litter with jobless extortionists and arsonist...... Imagine visiting Lagos with a foreign friend only to encounter this..... You cant fined this in Yemen and Gaza Lagos and Fake life..

On to the next. When they start disrupting the business, they don't think back about how it empowered them or their community. All they care about is "I want to be fed now. The future will handle itself." Now, those same youths will complain about how nobody cares to invest in their environment. They are always seen as dirt and will forever remain in penury. If another business owner opens a company in their presence, they will perform the same actions which rendered them jobless. Rinse and repeat ad infinitum. |

You people should also stop opening businesses at where you are known and if you need to do that, make sure you put strangers that won't smile with your friends and family when patronizing. Some people are naturally Onigbese Modified: Stop asking me if I read the epistle. I should rather ask if you comprehend my comments. You can't tell me a street beggars begging shut down the restaurant, the beggars the guy was talking about was the bigger picture, the bigger beggars who are friends and families. Don't get yourself blocked asking me boring question if I read or not Thank you |

Could all this happen when Fashola was Governor? No. Could this happen when Ambode wa Governor? Not at all. But you see this Jide, his inability to enforce discipline is a big problem to everyone. The other day, one developer who blocked the drainage was shining teeth when Tokunbo Wahab was berating him. Could he try that when Fashola was Governor? Sanwoolu himself is the problem. The entire begging menace can be stopped in less than 4 days. |

This begging culture is becoming another thing now, we know it's synonymous up north but I never knew that they hype men and women aka street beggars are now in Lagos too doing the same work. You can get angry with me for bringing the north into the picture but the truth remain still. |

Is he talking about Helinues and Yarimo? Just asking for a friend. Those are Tinubu structures. They will soon be activated for 2027 elections. After elections, the idiots return to constituting nuisance to their communities. They have become a MENACE to Lagos and the govt seems not bothered about the activities. |

helinues:Oga, do u actually read posts before commenting? The man didn't say it was family and friends who made him close up the business. He said they were street boys begging and harassing the customers. And saying people shouldn't open businesses where they are known makes no sense. Except you're advising people with criminal records, that's when there's sense in it. |

Jayhome24:Give you address of a closed restaurant, you want to verify whether the restaurant is still operational or not? |
| Re: Lagos Begging Pandemic Forced Me To Shutdown My Restaurant- Ademuyiwa by OlujobaSamuel: 5:58am On Aug 10 |
Jayhome24:Someone like me will stop patronising a business if the staff or environment is littered with beggars. If you truly runs a restaurant, you should know boys will always hang around to beg there. I wanted to fill gas few days ago in my shop, I was scared of going to the junction myself to fill it, had to find someone I can send just because of money for boys |

Jayhome24:He is not lying. Currently the Lekki-Ikoyi corridor is looking like a threat to some of it residents. Restaurants and bars in Phase 1, these guys hang around in large numbers. Nobody knows where they are coming from. Once they see the car is big, they stop to beg. Individuals should stop giving them, because now they are emboldened. It is becoming dangerous |

It's a cultural thing and has been since 70s. Just that it has taken a dangerous dimension, it's no longer with talking drums and dance, it now comes with entitlement, impunity, threats of vandalism and extortion Aside from a military regime-type reset, Nothing can stop it. We just have to live with it. |
| Re: Lagos Begging Pandemic Forced Me To Shutdown My Restaurant- Ademuyiwa by Image123(m): 6:09am On Aug 10 |
Not just Lagos, the begging has become a norm over the past 20 or 30 years. Anything for the boys? People expect and feel entitled to collect money for greeting you. You must also greet or hail to maintain peace and order. Money for passing your street, money to cross, money to leave, all kinds of extortion seen as normal. It's a keg of gunpowder that has been waiting to blow up for a while. |

Jayhome24:Why you dey deny the reality on ground. those small girls philestines abi pakistan fair aboki looking girls with foreign accent never beg you before. like drag your clothes. force you to subsequently dodge their route. Same thing, beggars disturb Op's customers when coming in and going out, such that customers thin out. |

Now they are around every junction, Malls, restaurants and any where that looks a bit classy. They are truly a threat to a lot of businesses. They need to be controlled now, because even tourist will begin to have issues soon. These boys are a threat to the society |
