Guys, apparently there are two variants of the NLNG rejection emails sent out 20th July. The differences I noticed are: • One says “at this time, you have not…” and also ends with “best regards,” as it’s complimentary close. • While in the other, there is no “at this time” and it carries “Kind regards,” as its complimentary close. I’m pointing this out because something similar happened during the 2023/2024 recruitment. There were also two versions of the rejection email, and some candidates later speculated that the “at this time” version was a disguised waitlist after a number of people were reportedly contacted later. I wonder if this year’s variants mean something similar or if they’re simply different email templates. I noticed this July 20th. |

Same thing was done for the last technician trainee recruitment (2025 set) some received mail of “At this time “. Also graduate trainee (2023 set) Likewise same thing will be done with this current graduate trainee.. the mails will drop after they are done totally with medicals for the guys that are called already . It will come together with the general regret mail |

Ochukogold:The mails have already dropped, I only wonder if the differences in the letters are of importance. |

Omo, no give me hope o. But if it is as you've observed, it's probably a coded waitlisting of sorts jessieify: |

Larynxfc:Just go on with your life bro: you’ll might resume nlng as second batch by January 2028 (if all things being equal) |

2028 go far o. Of course, I won't stand my life still for NLNG. If I'm on an equally great/even better trajectory elsewhere by then, I'm good Ochukogold: |

Seems the majority of e-mails have the “at this time” phrase. Is this how it was in the 2023/2024 recruitment ? |

Opeadura01:Really? 😱. It didn’t come from the “Selar” materials? Cos I was reading up somewhere here that “all the questions were in that material I was hawking” |

Bongadu:lol! You know it’s still these pipes, elbows and flanges you’d still be looking at (possibly over SCADA) at your new place? Maybe with better instrumentation and safety procedures. But na still the same hydrocarbon fluids you go dey deal with. Congratulations all the same. Prepare, you will soon know you have an account officer and that they have a name. Account officer from your bank will call you by themselves after your first month |

AyeshaaaM:Thank you so much for putting this together. I thought I'd add a few points that may also be helpful. Group Exercise For the group exercise, we were specifically instructed not to appoint a designated leader. That said, one of us informally moderated the discussion. One thing to be mindful of is the timing. I almost misled my group by giving an incorrect estimate of the remaining time because I mistakenly calculated based on the initial ~30 minutes allocated for the individual document review. I had forgotten that the group discussion itself had a separate duration of approximately 45 minutes. After the exercise, we were asked to write our names on the sheets we used. Also, there is no presentation stage after the discussion - Once the discussion ends, the exercise is over, because of this, don't wait until the end to contribute or hope to redeem yourself during a presentation. Contribute meaningful insights consistently throughout the discussion, listen actively to others, and maintain professionalism and decorum at all times. Presentation Exercise We were given about 75 minutes to analyse the materials and prepare our presentation. Although that sounds like plenty of time, it goes by much faster than you would expect. One trap is trying to understand every detail in the bulky material before preparing your flip chart slides. What worked for me was spending about five minutes skimming through everything to understand the objective of the task and identify the information that would be most useful before diving into the details. My task involved analysing the performance of five teams over a given period and making recommendations. Rather than analysing all five teams before giving my recommendations, I structured my presentation one team at a time. Each page of my flip chart contained: - The team's name - A concise analysis highlighting only the most important insights - The recommendation for that team I felt this made the presentation much easier to follow and kept the assessors engaged. After the presentation, expect follow-up questions about your analysis and recommendations. Delivery matters just as much as content, it is important to present with confidence and conviction. A solid analysis can lose impact if delivered hesitantly, while a confident, well-structured presentation leaves a much stronger impression. Fact-Finding Exercise The fact-finding exercise question paper is quite brief, usually just two or three sentences. For the task, the business is trying to choose between two options, and your task is to make a recommendation. My approach was to first understand what the business was actually trying to achieve and identify any non-negotiables. I then asked questions about each option, assessed how well each aligned with the business's objectives, and made my recommendation based on that. Interestingly, my recommendation wasn't the popular choice among the other participants, but that's perfectly okay. There isn't necessarily a right or wrong answer. What matters is your ability to justify your decision, communicate your reasoning with conviction, and respond thoughtfully when the assessors challenge your assumptions or introduce new perspectives. In my case, I remained convinced by my reasoning and didn't change my recommendation. I hope this helps! |
