Southeast Votes Alone Cannot Produce Nigeria’s President - Umahi Tackles Obi by Prevail123(op): 7:11pm On Aug 10
Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has taken a swipe at former Anambra State Governor and National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, saying the Southeast cannot produce Nigeria’s president by relying solely on votes from the region.

Umahi spoke in Abuja on Monday when he received members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on a courtesy visit who conferred on him Patron of the Association.

The Minister, while discussing the need for political integration and national cooperation, appeared to dismiss arguments centred on regional sentiments, stressing that the Southeast must work with other parts of the country to achieve its political aspirations.

“The vote of Southeast will not make our brother president. We need to work with other zones,” Umahi said.

He also criticised what he described as sentimental politics, urging Nigerians, particularly people from the Southeast, to focus on issues rather than emotions.

“Our people should not be sentimental,” the Minister said, adding that he believed the current administration had demonstrated an intention to integrate the Southeast into the national development agenda.

Umahi said the region had benefited from major infrastructure projects under President Bola Tinubu and attributed some of the projects secured in the Southeast to the President's commitment to addressing perceived imbalances.

“I have to be very honest with you. If I'm not a Minister from Southeast, we won't be able to get the projects we have gotten,” he said.

According to him, President Tinubu had demonstrated a willingness to “right the wrongs of the Southeast” through infrastructure development.

“It’s an intention of Mr. President. Go and right the wrongs of the Southeast,” Umahi quoted the President as directing.

The former Ebonyi State governor also appeared to make a direct reference to Obi while discussing political competition and the 2027 elections.

“He's a very good brother, friend. I wish him a happy birthday, he did to me when I celebrated my birthday” Umahi said.

He, however, insisted that the political debate should be centred on issues and governance rather than personal sentiments.

Umahi urged Nigerians to assess the Tinubu administration based on its performance, particularly in infrastructure development, rather than allowing regional or emotional considerations to determine their political choices.

He cited several road and bridge projects as examples of what he described as the administration's commitment to national development, including projects linking different parts of the country.

The name of the game Peter Obi plays in his bid for the Nigerian Presidency is Delusion. Delusion is a fixed belief that is not amenable to change in light of conflicting evidence. Peter Obi clearly did not win the last Presidential Elections but he insists to the contrary and his deluded supporters agree with him despite conflicting evidence! Delusion is a fatal phenomenon!! I must state that I am not a partisan politician or a Tinubu fan. Tinubu is not electable in 2027 since he could not fix the electricity supply problem. He promised to not present himself for reelection in the event that he fails to fix the electricity supply problem. I just cannot understand why as a people we are not rooting for a Yemi Osinbajo and or an Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to be President. They are folks who can fix our space but we are presently bickering over politicians whose performance are under par.

Mischievous and a foolish minister talking nonsense as usual ..

He knows his foolish audience that’s why he’s telling them what they want to hear

Did Peter Obi ever claim to be banking on only South East votes or does this man just want to sound dumb like he always sounds? Outside South East, Obi won 8 more states.. So why is this man talking nonsense all the time?

Crab in a bucket mentality. But if Umahi were to contest for president today, where would his votes come from because the Southeast may not support him, and even the SWesterners purporting to support him today will do a 360 and betray him.

Umahi you are a big fool. Is it only South East that voted Peter Obi in the last elections?

From my observation the Black people are greedy and selfish that's why the West is living in 2050 while we are living in 1914, your brother will never mind to betray if he is given money...
In niger Delta tompolo is using the oil to enrich himself and love ones, the agenda was to control the resources ourselves but he has sign contract and abandon the major target...
In the east all the top politicians are selling and abandoning the bifra that will benefit them instead taking bribes to fight against their brothers...
Now a Muslim is saying everybody in Nigeria are slave to them...
A time will come if we are not ready these people will seriously deal with us, for now it sounds like a joke...

Umahii! Umayi!!. H.E Peter Obi won Lagos, Abuja and we Know how Port Harcourt went down.

In the Entire 16 years of PDP rule with 27 governor's at some point, they couldn't win Lagos. in a single attempt H.E Peter Obi broke that Jinx.

Kwankwaso said all sort of negative things about Peter Obi prior 2023 election and today, he is deputizing Obi come 2027.

The Ooni of Ife pronounced him the Tsunami, the Tsunami, the Tsunami, 3 times in a minute, it was not a coincidence, but ordained.

And Umayi, is Trying very hard to belittle Obi to a South East King. umbah!!!

I think, Umayi, would do better concentrating all his energy on clearing his soiled name in the death of the physiotherapy lady in his house than trying to vilify Obi.

Umahi, please maintain your level ohh!! As it stand now, you are playing in division 2 league, and H.E. Peter Obi is busy strategizing to win at premiership league level.

The difference is clear.

The clown does not see the alliance with north as working with other regions.
He wants the SE to work with the region of drug baron to achieve what exactly they should have asked him.
The clown thinks in future the SE will ever support him for anything. He should go and ask those who came before him.We will openly sto.ne him then
He will go to jail next yr
