Urgent action needed in reviewing the regulatory framework of NAFDAC and other sister agencies The leadership may need to be revamped, they need to put someone who is brutally and dangerously fearsome in character and personality, some Nigerians no dey hear word except with brutal dictator like force. More than half of the products in the markets are fake,sub-standard and dangerous: The government need to create a presidential task force to coordinate NAFDAC activities, there should be an active tac team made up of Navy, DSS & Civil defence- when counterfeiters are caught...the order should be to shoot on sight-no arrest. What they are doing is MURDER! All counterfeit products seized should be destroyed, buildings housing them demolished, the legality of these actions will be handled by the AGF. URGENT ACTION is needed if not there will be a pandemic. Revamp NAFDAC laboratories for enhanced specimen handling, testing, detection and verification Increase manpower and allocate resources. That's the solution. All this talk talk no action no g9 give result o |

Cum4me:Omo, that was why I stopped using sensodyne toothpaste, after being used to the taste, you buy one today the taste and smell will be different from the one you buy tomorrow. Infact after using the paste, I went out and noticed something was smelling in the supermarket I visited, Omo it was my mouth, lol. Do you know I went as far as contacting the company and sending them pictures to ask if it was fake, after some exchange of emails I no hear from them again. I then abandoned the brand for Colegate sensive, more pricy but atleast it is original. |

Food cheat is the major problem. Palm oil is adulterated. Carbide is used to ripen fruits. |

AkpaMgbor:Lol. Keep defending the indefensible. So children as young as ten and eight years old, who are also victims of this scourge, are also diabetic and hypertensive, right? |

Ignorance will be the death of black Africans. Somehow, we birth enough to replace the unfortunate. Our high testosterone and endless libido means we replenish fallen comrades without second thoughts. |

AkpaMgbor:Sugar, beer etc raise your uric acid levels, it puts strain on your kidneys as it struggles to filter the waste. Another major cause is NSAIDs ie Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs ie the common pain medicines from alabukun to diclofenac, ibuprofen, aspirin etc that people abuse, neck will pain them they will swallow, small weakness they will swallow, some people are even addicted to alabukun. Cele water nko ie that perfume they drink claiming it is blessed water, that one na confirmed kidney killer. Lol |

This is due to consumption only carbohydrate and sugar diets! Because very vital proteinous foods such as eggs, milk and meats are now very expensive and unaffordable beyond the reach of the common man. Kai the govt is very evil and very wicked and I don't know why the people can't see this |

Seriously, it is alarming the way the term ‘dialysis’ props up in various medical centers. I used to hear about such sickness in churches in the mid 90s (95/96) so strange a term the pastors had issues pronouncing it. Today, my neighbor can easily tell me he is going for dialysis and I will expect it like a usual medical checkup runs. So sad. Energy drinks nkor, satchet nkor? Wetin we go use de ‘step down’? Na wa 😭 |

Nextjs:Why don't we also appeal to our people too who out of love of money are engaging in this evil and wicked business to please stop it. Why can't we on our own say no to evil practice. |

Another major cause of this rise in kidney failures is the indiscriminate use of medicines; especially NSAIDs and antibiotics in Nigeria. The western world whom we learnt orthodox medicine from don't allow indiscriminate use of medicines but here in Nigeria, people take medications indiscriminately! We allow untrained people who have no knowledge of drugs sell all kinds of drugs without prescription and this has exposed many Nigerians to the toxic effects of drugs including kidney and liver failures. We urgently need to put a stricter regulation in place to ensure that drugs sales and handling is restricted only to trained professionals. In this 21st century, We shouldn't be having anything like patent medicine dealerships which allows illiterates poison people with drugs just for financial gains. |

As for me, according to my guardian my uncle that I lived with for more than 15 years of my teenage life, always said we drank (agbo) which is herbal mixture till we grow up in life. Living in the village in those days, we hardly heard of hospital or injection etc. for more than a decade when I was there. They used an Alternative medication to everything, including Cutlass, hoe, falling, any injuries, snake bites, and other maternity cases. I have seen it back then. You will hardly see anyone sick for long in the village, and we are all very healthy and strong kikiriki. Until I relocated to the city coz of my high school education before been introduced to modern drugs and treatments. So, nothing bad in good and real herbal treatment. Am still using them till date at 49 now and nothing is wrong with me. Jmichael1: |

NAFDAC is a dead organization. Me thinks they might even be in bed with some of the originators of these substandard products, flooding our market. |

Adulterated drinks and foods affect the liver at the initial stage and gets down to the kidney when the liver has failed or is battling with lots of load. Diseases like HBP and diabetes seriously affect the kidney. |

Evaress:Also harmful chemicals in our environment can lead to kidney failure. Aviod use of bleaching/organic and tube creams. If you work in industries, e.g those that deal with machine parts, car batteries and so so on, ensure that your employers give you Pereonal protective Equipment (PPE) so that the chemicals don't enter your body through your skin. Any factory that is dumping its industrial waste into canals and rivers should be reported. Because the waste will enter people's drinking and cooking water, thereby leading to kidney issues. If your employers refuse, report them to your union or nigerian ministry of labor. Dialysis is not cheap. Replacing a kidney is not easy for the average nigerian |

Evaress:How are herbal medications harmful to our bodies? Last time I checked they are organic substances. How can organic unpoisonous but beneficial substances affect a body that is in itself organic in nature? |

Nigerians are the enemies of Nigerians, we're in the era where Nigerians freely add chemicals to food before selling to good Nigerians. |
