The thing is, when doing a pHD, you are supposed to contribute original research. It is not like doing masters, and running away, na original research (I once wanted to do phd, but I ran away because I had no original idea at all at all).

Guy copied other people's work and passed it off as his own. And the painful thing is that he copied work that is available online, which is how the racist that exposed him caught him, he just passed the guys thesis through an online antiplagarism checker. Caught.

In other words his phd was not original work. That was the problem

You do. At least an original spin on an idea, or an original idea. The idea is that a phd is supposed to show that you can research from scratch, so that you can eventually lead innovative research in the future. Plagarism shows that issues dey.

But what got Arday was not the plagarism...it's the fact that he told lies (like running thirty marathons in thrity five days, the last week with a broken femur) or not being able to talk until he was eleven( one of his childhood accquaintances came out to say that he was able to talk ) that did him in

Then he sent cease and desist letters back in the day when this was not news. An academic read his papers, found some issues with them, and emailed him asking about the issues...and got a threatening reply back. And then afterwards there was a hurried correction to said papers. (Note that this academic did not go on to expose him ). With issues like that...

Also, he is not the only black guy in cambridge nor is he the first black guy to teach at cambridge. (One of my parents had a lecturer back when they was students, who had done phd in cambridge self, and probably taught there during that time. Na black NIgerian him be, lol. All the students were in awe of him). There are other black guys in cambridge...why only him.?

Fair enough. But in our culture we have a saying that if you're surrounded by enemies, you're in constant watch over your life. This young man should've stayed in his lane unless he had watertight defenses. But no. He fell into a familiar trap for many black people. He wanted to be best this, best that, youngest this. All the while with porous defenses. On top of that, too, he made attacking the white establishment for racism his academic calling card. They weren't going to let him alone. The white professor you named didn't tell him to plagiarize portions of his dissertation! He probably knew he was going to be caught during an investigation and bailed out through the nearest exit. If he was sure of himself, he would have collaborated with the investigators. Him taking his own life shows he simply couldn't handle life once his carefully constructed facade was gone.

Arday got into trobule really because of the outlandish claims he made about his growing up and life. And the massive publicity he got as a academic , a black guy in Cambridge, around the time BLM was calling out cambridge for its racisim (which was right, but Cambridge , in the hurry to prove they were not racist appointed Arday without enough due dillgence). If it was just the thesis, the story won't have merited a mention in even the far right media.

Plagiarism is academic fraud and has very serious consequences. In the US, it can be the basis of a criminal proceeding, and once established, even without jailtime of fines, it leads to PERMANENT reputational damage.

The part I don't agree with is he's not worth being a proff in Cambridge. The guy was already a professor in uni of Glasgow b4 moving to Cambridge. All those talk of incompetence is racist talk.

My biggest problem will all this is that term called neurodivergence. Most would be shocked that neurodivergence is a social terminology that forced its way into the medical world. It was coined by sociologist to explain how some people behaved atypical outside of social norm. And boom this concept was embraced by all and the medical world was forced to beleive on it.

Arday was an expert in neurodivergence. He helped developed the concept in UK and seems like he forced his life into to concept to make it look real as much as possible.
He couldn't talk until 11, he couldn't read until 18, he achieved feat impossible for normal people to do despite being autistic like running marathon within record time. All these helps solidify the opinion that people autism, dyslexia, ADHD, bipolar, OCD, speech delay, dyspraxia, Tourette's syndrome etc do not have a medical problem at all rather it's their brain responding to external stimuli differently , thus it's the society that should adapt and change so people with these conditions can function within their own atypical world.
To be sincere it all sounds wokeism. But in a world that's fast losing grip with reality and DEI is prioritized over competence, neurodivergence has come to stay without serious scrutiny done on its validity as a scientific concept.

Arday was the poster boy of neurodivergence in the UK for a long time. He was the celebrity guy of neurodivergence and he got the positive publicity which he thoroughly enjoyed. He gave hope to parents with neurodivergence kids and helped shut up critics of the concept. However, when his fall came, I wonder why people expected it wouldn't be hard. If u don't want to fall hard, then don't aim high. Simple.

Finally, institutions like Cambridge benefitted having people like Arday on their board. The showmanship he brought definitely put Cambridge in the limelight and they definitely loved it- of course they wouldn't want to end it.
Above is the reason the allegations of plagiarism and false claims that started as far back in 2023 went unchecked and not investigated.

His case is just the outcome of a world who has driven itself too far into deception that it no longer know when to stop.

I will not discount plagiarism. Most of you have to realize that PhD research itself is a layer of work based on precedent, those you agree with and those you disagree with. You cannot pull anything out of the air, your brain or experience without supporting with the work of others!

Indeed supervised graduates trying to obtain their PhD have accused their professors of stealing their work.

Without condemning or supporting this guy, Black academia have always been sorted out for attacks that would not fly against white professors. Even Harvard Black professors have been scrutinized by racists wondering how they make any accomplishments.

Put any professor or research on microscope, you will see the work of others. This is why one must credit previous research as often as you can. The problem is how often because many times, like language, they tend to imitate one another.

Black people too jump on their own to quickly wondering how you succeed in a white world while they fail!

Arday has claimed that he was a visiting professor for Nelson Mandela University in South Africa, the University of Glasgow and Ohio State University, all of which have denied that he held such a position. According to the Daily Mail, Arday has also wrongly claimed to have a position as honorary professor at Durham University.

A Cambridge philosophy fellow has caused outrage after claiming that in a meritocracy black people would only be famous for sports and entertainment.

Writing on his blog, Nathan Cofnas, who researches the philosophy of biology, said that in a truly meritocratic system: “Harvard faculty would be recruited from the best of the best students, which means the number of black professors would approach 0 per cent.”

In such a system, black people would “disappear from almost all high-profile positions outside of sports and entertainment”, he wrote.

he report followed a Substack post by Nathan Cofnas, an academic who was previously embroiled in a free speech row at Cambridge after he suggested in a blogpost that, in a meritocracy, there would be “close to zero” black professors at Harvard. Cofnas, a self-defined “race realist”, was sacked by Cambridge’s Emmanuel College in 2024 and underwent a disciplinary investigation into the blogpost about black academics. The investigation concluded that Cofnas was not guilty of “discrimination or harassment”, and that his views, “while seen by many as offensive, did not breach the law and did not contravene university regulations designed to uphold free speech”. He now works at Ghent University, in Belgium.

Cofnas claimed he had put Arday’s PhD through plagiarism detection software, which found that “many passages are lifted with minimal editing, sometimes retaining copy-editing mistakes from the original source”.

Another critic of Arday was Dr David Harris, professor emeritus at Plymouth Marjon University, in Devon, who had previously written to Cambridge with claims about Arday’s work.

Last year Harris, who in 2024 published a book about critical race theory, was stripped of his professor emeritus title following an administrative dispute. He was reinstated earlier this year but in the meantime learned his work had been deemed “controversial” by the university. After Harris’s earlier queries about Arday’s work, two corrections were made to papers released in 2018 and another in 2020.

The fact that the two most vocal critics of Arday harboured controversial views on race appeared to inform Cambridge’s response, which was a robust defence of Arday. The university called the claims a “vile smear campaign to undermine his credibility”.
