Yeah, you're very right. Politics is a game of calculation. Both Adeleke and Ambo are from Osun west. Both Osogbo and Ife would prefer to give Adeleke another 4 years to have their own chances than to give Ambo another 8 years. It's all a game of interest.

Your analysis may seem sound, bit it doesn't reflect the truth.

The truth is, Adeleke really took care of Osun people.

He cleared the Aregbe salary debt that Oyetola refused to touch. He doesn't owe salaries even after that.

He ran more meaningful projects.

State debt is reducing under his watch.

The people of Osun voted performance, not sectarianism.

The APC got that many votes from their lowball tactics and vote buying, not because the APC man was popular. He is totally unknown and was set to become Oyetola and Tinubu's stooge if he had won.

Someone who is on ground just told you what he saw and heard in Osogbo, across radio stations in Osun and even in PH by Yoruba taxi drivers against Tinubu's unpopularity and you still continue to bury your head in the sand? If Tinubu wanted Ademola to defect to the APC, Oyetola and Omisore would not have stopped him unless you now confess that he showed favouritism to his nephew, Oyetola. The defection of governors into the APC were resisted in virtually all the states by existing members but Tinubu insisted and had his way. He even had to drop Ganduje as Chairman because of that while the likes of Uche Nnaji lost his ministerial position and continues to be hounded as a result of that. In Delta, the likes of Omo-agege had to leave the party.

This loss by the APC is very instructive with far-reaching repercussions because APC unleashed every federal force they could muster including buying votes for as high as 50k per vote and they still lost. The election was far from free and fair, APC only found it difficult because the entire state turned up to vote. With presidential campaigns set to begin in a few days from now, the APC has lost considerable momentum as this is the last off-cycle election before January. Nigerians across board have also seen a winning template that can be used to resist federal might in their states. The people are much more determined now than ever. Failing to admit all these will be tantamount to lying to yourself.

Are you sure it's only because of Omisore? Why then did APC disenfranchise him from even contesting in the party primaries? Better wake up and smell the coffee. People were being beaten up for supporting Tinubu in the rural parts of Osun and that was months ago. He is highly unpopular across the country.

Abuja doesn't matter for presidential election because it has low number of electorates...but state capitals matter for state gov. Election because all state capitals constitute a significant portion of vote state-wide

The fact is that elections in Nigeria today count unlike before (2003 - 2007). That's why politicians give money to voters. The only remaining thing right now is people coming out to vote and th voters turnout yesterday is impressive. I am from Ife and stay in Ibadan. I travelled home to vote (like I have always do) and this time I made sure I go with many of my friends who normally will not go home to vote. We voted massively and the will of the people prevailed. It's keenly contested though.

APC should have accepted Adeleke but Oyetola made sure it did not happen and also the scheming out of Omisore played a big role as Omisore did not work with them. They failed to reconcile them untill when it was too late.

APC got more than 40% of the total votes. Adeleke's Accord won a keenly contested close election. People are free to choose whatever party or candidate they like. And for you info, I voted for Adeleke. He tried to join APC but the local APC structure led by Oyetola rejected him.

You people really don't understand democracy. Every election where your preferred candidate loses suddenly becomes “rigged” or “not free and fair,” but when your candidate wins, everything is magically democratic. That is not how democracy works.

People are free to choose whoever they want without intimidation or coercion. The fact that you support Adeleke, perhaps without even having set foot in Osun, simply because you dislike Tinubu does not mean every reasonable person must share your preference. You are entitled to your choice; others are equally entitled to theirs.
