The Fubara case and Adeleke case are two different cases. The Rivers State is a case where Tinubu is completely in support of Wike. If Tinubu had remained neutral it would have been very difficult for Wike in fact 1the Assembly would have dance to the tune of Fubara or run away from Rivers State. So the case of Rivers State is because Tinubu supported Wike nothing else. The day Tinubu goes out of office it will be the end of Wike reign. Nothing last forever. |

They keep pushing people into the pit. Adeleke won because of his allegiance to the powers that be, simple. |

LordIsaac:Are you telling me the APC candidate is not loyal to Tinubu and APC his own party? With several APC governors in attendance to the campaign of the APC candidate? Make you reason things na! It's because Tinubu decided to remain neutral. He couldn't Have done anything. If they had decided to rig it would been too obvious. |

Fubara shot himself on the foot. All he needed was to decamp to a party different from APC immediately he returned from the state of emergency. The house of assembly couldn't have impeached him because the Anthoney general of the state was on his side. Back to the Adeleke issue, Adeleke was able to defeat the federal might because the people of Osun state came out in their numbers, stood their ground and voted against APC. Assuming the turnout of the voters was low, APC would have easily manipulated the outcome of the results against Imole. So the governor has the people of Osun state to thank for the victory and not in connection with any federal might. saintopus: |

saintopus:If Tinubu had not intervened on Fubara's behalf, Fubara would have been duly impeached for all his earlier misguided rascality against the majority members of the Rivers Assembly and the constitution he swore to uphold.. Your guys are feigning ignorance of how Fubara chased the lawmakers out of their complex for close to 2ys under the guise of renovations and only recognised 3 members that were slavishly loyal to him out of a total of 27 lawmakers. The 3 lawmakers that were not enough to form a qourom were the ones passing the state budget from Fubara's living room. You guys didn't see anything wrong about this but will be quick to say the NASS are stooges to Tinubu. Then when the court finally affirmed those lawmakers whom it was Fubara that dragged to court to have them removed , Fubara still refused to accept the verdict until it got to the Supreme court. When those lawmakers finally reconvened , the first thing they had planned was Fubara's impeachment . Instead of Fubara to renegotiate peace , he started playing the ethnic card by painting himself as a minority coastal man being hounded by majority upland Rivers people. Things took a dangerous dimension when Ijaws began seeing things through Fubara's distorted view of himself as being hounded because of his tribe. There were threats from Ijaw militant groups to destabilize the fragile peace in Rivers that was never having an ethnic coloration until Fubara applied that gimmick. A terrorist threat to resume bombing of oil infrastructure in Rivers were made and there was one singular incidence of one such threat being carried out That was when Tinubu applied wisdom and had both Fubara and the entire legislative branch suspended to douse tensions and to reach an amicable peace settlement. Fubara's case was one of someone highly naive, power drunk and badly advised by interlopers from outside Rivers |

Adeleke had bigger clout and personality what with his family/political connections buffering him some much that even Davido could call thieefnnubu to order without any repercussions... Fubara is just a nobody.. |

FSBoperator:You think impeachment simply means a statement by the House of Assembly members? The state commissioner of justice must sign and a panel constituted. Who appoints the commissioner? The governors! The state commissioner of justice and attorney general was already aligned with Fubara so tell me where will the impeachment come from? The era of impeachment governors has long since died in Nigeria completely ever since governors knew about this flaw in our constitution. Just appoint a commissioner of justice and attorney General who is your family member or a long time friend. That is the end of the story. |

saintopus:You guys no sabi politics. Tinubu clearly saw that Fubara lack capacity and he no get level for Rivers. So why will he go all out for him? To what benefit? Person wey no fit even win 20% of the state house of assembly members to his side. If na you, she you go support Wike or na Fubara you go risk am for? Politics is not about morals alone, if you play it with morality in a continent like Africa, sorry is your case |

iichidodo:You are comparing apples to oranges. Adeleke never had a problem with the legislative. Adeleke only faced opposition from political parties vying for his seat. Fubara, on the other hand went against his own party men and the legislative and assumed his position as governor to be that of a king who can operate and run his office without legislative oversight. If any of you were truly objective, you would have seen Fubara's earlier rascality in chasing legislators out of their chambers and placing it under lock and key claiming he wanted to renovate the building . Fubara will later approach a court to have virtually all of the legislators sacked save for just three loyal members . The court never agreed with him up till the supreme court . From that point he switched to being a victim of external forces. Same forces that ensured he became a governor but he decided that he will run Rivers as his personal fiefdom. When Obidients were supporting Fubara I just knew he was cooked because their support not only set the wheels rolling for Fubara's eventual political demise but also exposed how Obidients are anti democratic. To even complain that Adeleke recognised Tinubu's commitment to a free and fair election , Obidients are attacking Adeleke. Did they think Adeleke running for office is to be an opposition to the President ? Adeleke has 4 ys guaranteed as governor and is not interested in federal level politics . He can play opposition the sensible way and not the way you guys assume it to be - self alienating and divisive bordering on cultism. |

saintopus:Seperation of powers. Have you heard of it? The State Chief Judge does not have discretion to overrule the Legislative branch from carrying out their stipulated constitutional function. Notifying the State Chief Judge is just a procedural ritual which the Chief Judge is just made aware of an impending impeachment. The State Chief Judge can not overrule the house over their impeachment notice but is obliged to take cognizance of the fact that an impeachment process against the governor has begun. The State Chief Judge not signing it did not invalidate the process of impeachment or stops it from going through. It is only a formal notice to the state Judiciary that the individual that you administered the oath of office as governor of the state is set to face an impeachment hearing and that further communications will be passed to the state Judiciary concerning the final outcome of the impeachment. In short, they are telling the state Judiciary to get ready to swear in a replacement if the impeachment is successful. |

LegendHero:Tinubu is the only reason Fubara is still governor. Tinubu intervened on behalf of Fubara and the very fragile peace of Rivers. Even Fubara will later admit that Tinubu's timely imposition of a State of Emergency in Rivers helped him to escape impeachment. Even Justice Amadi's refusal to duly constitute a panel to investigate the impeachable offenses the Rivers state assembly had drawn against him is seen as part of Tinubu's doing to put a brake on the impeachment. Justice Amadi declined the Assembly's request to constitute a panel in January 2026, citing judicial independence and procedural propriety — raising the unresolved question of whether a Chief Judge can lawfully refuse a request that appears constitutionally mandated. In my opinion, Justice Amadi' erred to carry out one of several critical functions as the State Chief Judge. He is mandated by the constitution to compose a panel drawn from the public to review the allegations brought by the House against the governor. The constitution does not provide a discretional role for the State Chief Judge in an impeachment process but one of a mandatory function. But Justice Amadi' wrongly cited separation of powers as reason why he didn't carry out his functions in an impeachment process thereby impeding the functions of the legislative branch thereby doing the very opposite of what he said made him not to sign the impeachment notice . |

FSBoperator:You are right. Tinubu gave Fubara a soft landing, and it’s simply because anything that happened to him would have been a stain on Tinubu’s government if they had impeached the guy. |

| Re: Osun - IF Only Fubara Haɗ Decamp Just Maybe by FSBoperator: 12:10am On Aug 17 |
maivd:There's no room for Judiciary consent to ok or reject an impeachment notice. Justice Amadi clearly abdicated his constitutional mandated role as Chief Judge to constitute an independent panel to investigate allegations set before Fubara by the House. Also, recent rulings by the Judiciary as per what constitutes a judicious matter have been established. Justice Amadi was not expected to rule on Fubara's impeachment case but rather to carry out his delineated role and function in such circumstances as the constitution warrants and mandates from a sitting Chief Justice. |

FSBoperator:You have not given me a clear example of where the judiciary was left out and the governor was removed. You don't have to be emotional about it. If everyone is not n board the impeachment, the governor remains. |
| Re: Osun - IF Only Fubara Haɗ Decamp Just Maybe by saintopus(m): 7:06am On Aug 17 |
FSBoperator:Very interesting indeed! So the House of Assembly members can just wake up one morning and announced that the governor has been impeached and direct INEC to conduct a new election just like that! Well, it's possible under Tinubu government, but what I know from the constitution of the Federal Republic as amended is the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of the state MUST constitute a 9 member panel to investigate the issue raised by the House of Assembly for a period of 2 weeks and after if the governor was found culpable, he can then be impeached. Since we're in Tinubu government, all these procedure can be thrown away according to you, and a direct proclamation of impeachment can be carried out. I think that is good one according to you. And I think it's a good too! Hahhaaha. |
| Re: Osun - IF Only Fubara Haɗ Decamp Just Maybe by FSBoperator: 7:16am On Aug 17 |
saintopus:The state Chief Judge is mandated to institute a seven man panel when served a notice by the legislative branch. He or she can not act discretionary to obey the request but is required by law to do so. Justice Amadi declined citing separation of powers forgetting that he is mandated by the constitution to carry out this set function. |
| Re: Osun - IF Only Fubara Haɗ Decamp Just Maybe by saintopus(m): 7:23am On Aug 17 |
FSBoperator:The guy ask you a question to site an example in Nigeria where a governor has been successfully impeached without the judiciary. Please mention a case where that has happened? Well, in Tinubu government, there is nothing that it's impossible! So it can only happen in Tinubu government!!! |
| Re: Osun - IF Only Fubara Haɗ Decamp Just Maybe by saintopus(m): 7:29am On Aug 17 |
FSBoperator:So when Hon Justice Amadi refused to set up the panel? What happened? Will, the presidency or Wike boys do the needful? Hahahahaha |
| Re: Osun - IF Only Fubara Haɗ Decamp Just Maybe by FSBoperator: 7:41am On Aug 17 |
saintopus:This is where the Presidency acted by ensuring Amadi declined to act. That was how Tinubu saved Fubara. Even Fubara has admitted that Tinubu is the one who saved him from an imminent impeachment. |
| Re: Osun - IF Only Fubara Haɗ Decamp Just Maybe by FSBoperator: 7:43am On Aug 17 |
saintopus:Justice Amadi even claimed Separation of powers on why he did not constitute a panel. Amadi claimed as chief judge he had no powers or role to play in the impeachment process. |
