Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, broke down in tears on Sunday during a congratulatory call from his nephew cum Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, better known as Davido.

Recall that Davido actively campaigned for Adeleke throughout the election and repeatedly expressed confidence that his uncle would secure a second term.

Adeleke was declared the winner of the election on Sunday after polling 511,067 votes across the state to defeat his major contender, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a video circulating online, Adeleke, while speaking with Davido, got emotional and was heard saying, “Come and give me a hug,” while his son, B-red, was also seen patting him on the back.

Can Tinubu generate this level of Organic love right now He should better abandon those sycophants around him and get genuine people to advice him. He needs to reconnect with the real hustling Nigerians in the grass roots. If this statement was made by the governor, it shows he's still backward after experiencing what it means to transform human society through democratic system in America for many years. If democracy was built on ethnicity and religious sentiments, great societies in the West wouldn't have emerged.

Tell me the score cards of Tinubu after over 3 years that warrants his reelection. On a general note, Nigeria is characteristically scored low on security, employment, social welfare, infrastructure, and economic indices. I expected Ademola Adeleke to advise Tinubu to honorable step down as they do in advanced democracy when things are in a mess like Nigeria currently.

We should think of building Nigeria collectively by ensuring that our democratic principles are strictly followed. Where we can hold elected officials accountable through the ballots. Anything short of that we are not serious yet and will continue in the vicious circle of political backwardness and poverty in our country.

Yet, the voice and will of the people prevailed over their money, bags of rice and other inducements they brought in an attempt to influence the people against you.

That is the power of the people.

One good example I would encourage you to follow is the governing footprint of your fellow governor, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State. If you can adopt his governing blueprint, improve upon it and take it even further in Osun State, your people will undoubtedly benefit.
