I don't understand all these subsidy issues. Who is subsidizing who. We buy poles, wire and even prepaid meter. We just bought a transformer for 12 million naira and are presently contributing 40000 per each house to repair the damaged transformer. Any fault in the new transformer we have to pay their ibedc staff for both labor and cost of material. Yet everyone keeps saying the government is subsidizing. Even if you audit properly you will find out that the prepaid meter cost that was supposed to be repaid to consumers is not being fully repaid. Who is really subsidizing who. |

akingold2:You are buying poles because subsidy even if fully paid does not cover the running costs of the power sector. And the thing is, the subsidy is not fully paid. Band A money used for subsidy does not even cover the costs of the subsidy...and government is struggling to pay its own part of the subsidy costs because in addition to the massive corruption and stealing, finances have been bad. IN May this year, discos got 328 billion naira with of electricity to distribute. Revenue they raised, including the band A subsidising other bands monies, was 208 billion naira. That is revenue they got, including estimated billing, penalites, metered users. Of course they could not pay for all the electricity they were supposed to distriubte. And that's the thing that has been going on for decades. |

BBQZ:Picking it up from your last comment, the fact is, bad B-E do not actually pay for the electrcity they consume. As for the band system, it's government's way of running away from the cost reflective tarrif issue Finally, people on band b-e pay more for power than those in band A...in the form of generator and solar costs. Or do without. |

Kukutente23:it is simple maths. I dont understand why many don't get it. It is the same maths many use to ask "how come Nigeria is borrowing after oil subsidy removal?" If there are 10 cookies at a total fair market value and selling price of $500 to be sold to 10 kids, if we are to sell only 1 cookie to each kid, they each pay $50. What the band A is doing is causing 1 kid to pay above $50 , your confusion lies here i suspect, if that 1 kid is paying $65 , that 1 kid is subsidising the others by $15. However the other kids are all paying less than $50 with some even getting the cookie at $20, majority at $30. It makes sense that less than $500 will be obtained at the end of the day assuming everyone pays fully. |

They know that Nigerians lack critical reasoning skills, so any stupid idea that enters their brain is what they just spit out...that's why Fayose said that 'darkness causes population increase,' and Umahi said ''God sent him' to Ibos |

I think it's the prepaid poor masses that's subsiding all of us. I haven't seen this kind of ignorance so bold. Many band A users are on metered and have their cards and also many could afford solar. Prepaid gets to pay whatever the regulators throw at them. Whether theirs power or not, whether they traveled or not, their monthly bill and officia/unofficial increments is waiting for them |

The government said it has removed subsidy , why are the people using band A made to subsidize electricity for others?. Wicked APC and tinubu government Later they will use the money to leave a lavish lifestyle TINUBU MUST GO IN 2027 PETER OBI IS COMING |

Justnation:Well, government removed subsidy on band A users, not on band B to E. PLus if Peter Obi comes, he has to remove subsidy totally on electricity and let the discos set their price, instead of the banding system that tinubu is using. |

Band A is a scam that Tinubu introduced to embezzle more funds from struggling people of Nigeria. May God punish all those involved in the introduction of this BAND A SCAM |

| Re: Band A Power Users Subsidised Others With ₦101bn – ZKJ Energy by nairalanda1(m): 4:16pm On Aug 18 |
asksafe:No it isn't. It is what the government does when most people do not want to pay a cost reflective tarrif, they raise the price of power for the rich, and hope it raises enough money to help pay for electricity for the poor. India does the same thing. And the result is the same in both countries. Not enough money raised, power cuts continue. |

All na scam, nobody gives anybody the right to select who to have more access to electricity and who not to have electricity. This is pure discrimination and executive recklessness. Everybody should have equal access to basic amenities and pay what they consume,at equal price. |

Kukutente23:Discos are thieves. I'm on band A but I support total removal of subsidies. The only problem I have is that the money saved will be stolen and the power holding will gradually die off as people will look for alternatives. Alternatives are becoming more possible in recent times. Solar, gas powered generators etc |

Greenfusion:So what's your solution? |
| Re: Band A Power Users Subsidised Others With ₦101bn – ZKJ Energy by Greenfusion: 4:47am On Aug 19 |
WhizdomXX:Scrap BANDing, 1. enact and enforce laws to protect the consumers, no good power no money for company, money back. to customers when they default. A major problem in this regard is that the Nigerian govt has made it easy for them to make money even when they don't give any/bad service. 2. Enact and enforce laws against fraudulent consumers. They should be fined big or face the law. 3. Power Companies should maintain most of their asset, not customers. Customers should not be buying transformers that same companies would claim to be theirs. As these look simple, try it and see how power would improve in nigeria.....nonsense would stop, it would be b2b |

NinjaMetahuman:Always simple as ABC as an outsider. The day you become an insider is when you will realize it's actually a rocket science. The day you realize over 50% of Nigerians on prepaid meter bypass their meters and their is no immediate solution to it is when you either resign or continue the palliative those we are blaming today are doing. |
