We were at a certain market this morning to get some rods.


I saw this little Hausa girl hawking this snacks .

I told my husband to get some for me.... immediately it entered my mouth it brought back fond memories of when I was a teen.

My brother practically dragged some with me,he won't allow me munch my snack in peace

That is donkwa or Tanfiri as we used to call it here.
I don't have any fond memories of it when I was young,l really like it, but anytime I eat it, I will have high body temperature which always leads to fever,no be small thing.
By the time I tried it like three times and I am getting the same reaction, till today,I never near it, but my siblings,my family generally always consume it without any adverse effects.

I am not saying the snack is not good, but my body always reacts negatively to it.

Is sugar added to it?

I used to enjoy it but ever since it made me to cough one kain violent cough that made my eyes go red and started bringing out tears. Ever since then, I've not tasted it. That should be six years ago, during the lockdown to be precise

As kids, we called it Donkuwa. It was one of our regular snacks back then. Then I went to secondary school and learnt that those Northern women usually use their laps to mould it. Since then, I stopped eating any snacks made by Northerners.

not true. Dankwua is made from millet/sorghum flour. It's very soft.
