Why is Tinubu being a former drug baron such a big deal?

Who doesn't know that this country is without morals?

Whether it's established that Tinubu sold crack cocaine along Chicago-Thailand or not, APC will never disqualify him on such grounds and he will use 5k each to buy the votes of poverty-stricken Nigerians in 2027. Yes, that's how terrible your country is.
Tinubu was never called a drug Barron but rather he offered accounting services to people who had illicit money.

The case has not been concluded yet. Nigerians have the right to know if their President was a drug dealer.
Jobless Disgruntled Nigerians that are not serious to improve their existence, & move their lives forward huh.

Personally i think he wasnt into drugs..But more like a money launder or Picker. According to the write up above He had an account in chicago as a student and they used it to launder money. It doesnt necessary mean he was directly involved in the drug business.

It's a shame. Part of the reason we have preponderance of fraudster in our society.

The fact Tinubu was traced to a drug kingpin itself is a major one.

That means NDLEA etc doesn't have credibility under him.

Mike Arnold is saying Cassius Clay snitched on his colleagues and walked away with a plea bargain.

"Releasing my FBI records will cause me irreparable damage". - Cassius Clay

"Releasing the FBI records will endanger lives." - FBI

Put two and two together.
keep putting 2 and 2 together until you receive invitation from the FBI or local police to come and explain yourself...

"Ijapa meta" will not serve as a lesson to you

A case that has been concluded and case closed is still being debated in 2026.

His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) faced his case squarely and got exonerated. Looked into the eyes of the judge and still got exonerated.

So what’s the big deal about files? If the US DOJ wants to release the files, they should do, and make sure it is released same day with unredacted Epstein files #Simple.
Don't mind them.
Effort in futility.

Its a lie.

If that was certain you'd see the bigot Bayo propagate it. Stop propagating things that don't exist.

What we say here about the the druqqie is real. You can see even the FBI getting involved to hold info that can damage a pipeline of reputation not just his own.

Go and get a job to do. I can recommend one!

those useless opposition have nothing to campaign against the president so they resort to all these bullshit.

Instead of telling us what their candidate will do better they are talking rubbish

All this is because he's a politically exposed person all the money they are spending to push this narrative could have been used to better someone's life. As long as he was not criminally charged even if the information comes out, it won't stop him from contesting. When you spoil Mr President's name you don't know it's all of us names you are spoiling including yourself.

Nigeria is not in a competition with any country on who is more morally bankrupt. We scrutinize our leaders over here.
The way you scrutinize Atiku after squandering 16 billion dollars that was spent on power or after sells government entities to his friends and cronies. Abeg shift jooooo

You nailed it!

They have nothing upstairs to sell.

Look at Atiku talking about removing subsidy and couldn’t even back it up with fact, figures and stats.

None is even eloquent and learned enough to challenge the system.

Even their media team seems to be sets who failed jamb and could not get admission.

Very wack opposition! The weakest since the creation of mankind.

@givedemwotowot, your rendition of that movie is virtuoso. You summarily but graphically relayed the plot.

I've worked in the secret service and I know how these things work. The FBI is not protecting Tinubu but its operations and other innocent people involved in the crime, just as you've opined.

There are some things that aren't just fit for public consumption. Hence, they are classified. However, at times, with the passage of time, government may deem it necessary to release them to the public. In this case, however, the FBI, and I'm certain, the CIA, want it sealed, at least, for now.

givedemwotowoto:
There's this movie about a certain Pablo Chicago, an FBI Asset.

In the movie, Pablo was caught laundering money for a drug cartel. To avoid jail time for himself, he offered to provide information that could expose the entire cartel. An accountant knows everyone in the business because he handles the payroll.

So the FBI used Pablo as an informant, and he ratted the entire network out.

If you watch crime movies, you'll notice that sometimes informants are also arrested and sent to jail on lesser charges, to mask their identity or to keep them close within the gang to continue to get information.

In this case they made Pablo forfeit money to make it look like was also caught and punished. This was his deal because he didn't want to go to jail at all as he believed he had a promising career ahead.

There's also another layer to the deception. They didn't arrest everyone involved, to create the deception that some people got lucky. Those people who got lucky were now seen as the betrayers, because how did you get lucky? It's all part of the deception.

So the gang members kept wondering "Who did it?". They believed the members who were not arrested and jailed were the betrayers, and they kpa! some of them and even their families, not knowing that it was Pablo.

Decades later, Pablo is running for political office in his home country Guinea, and the public starts demanding old FBI records.

But the FBI refused to release information about Pablo because it will expose other things:

1. Their methods. How they protected an informant, including allowing some people remain free while making an informant appear to be punished.

2. It could put some people in danger because innocent people and their families were kpa!d in retaliation by the gang members thinking they were the betrayers.

Anyway, it's just a movie.

Exactly what I've been saying for a while now. Our president snitched on his fellow drug dealers and if it gets out that his snitching put people in jail, those guys remain powerful enough to put out a hit on him.
There is a reason why he doesn't leave Aso Rock. He will refuse to go out for campaigns and will depend on governors of each geo-political zone to do centralised campaigns for him.

His drug links and proceeds from the trade may have been how he provided funds to keep NADECO running while most of them were in exile. Nigeria's fight for democracy in the 90s may have been sponsored with drug money. Something the CIA may have helped them to do. There seems to be a reason why the CIA don't want his records released as well.
You are absolutely very correct that's obviously the reason he is so desperate to make sure all governors in nigeria defect to his apc.

From the write up, it means Tinubu was aware of the drug deals bcuz his bank account was used to launder money.
Also, he bargained to let go of the funds and also help in dealing with the cartel.
So, is a win win for both the Tinubu and the USA government

Some people are funny...

To them, having such a dark cloud over the president is not a big deal.

A man that controls the lives and commonwealth of over 200m persons is fighting tooth and nail not to have a seemingly sordid past revealed and some persons are comfortable with that...

Well, I hope the very low standards they have set today will not become a cause for anger to them tomorrow when another shoddy character becomes president...

To think these same people called GEJ a drunkard while thier own man was a druggie bagman...

Eipstein files are mostly on randy men.
Tinubu's FBI files are about drug trafficking.
