The camps of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, have rejected the push by a political pressure group, G-100, for opposition parties to field a single presidential candidate against President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.https://punchng.com/atiku-obi-camps-reject-single-opposition-candidate/?amp

If the opposition is in disarray at the time 🕰️ while APC has already everything, then they should wait till 2031 |
| Re: Atiku And Obi Reject Single Opposition Candidate by yarimo(m): 4:41pm On Aug 23 |
Why joint ticket in the first place? Are they not popular enough to defeat president TINUBU individually or what? |

Why should a distant second and third be thinking of an alliance? |

Let all the political parties involved organise an intra-party primary and watch PitiObi tuwama again ![]() |
| Re: Atiku And Obi Reject Single Opposition Candidate by AMINDA: 4:53pm On Aug 23 |
fergie001:There will be no alliance. That ship has already sailed but I don't think either Atiku nor Obi were distant second and third. Tinubu only won with a margin of 1.9m votes (the least ever in the history of the country) and 5.6m of his total 8m votes came from the North. He will forever be indebted to the likes of Elrufai for that. |

Atiku is Fulani. What business does a Fulani man have after another Fulani man ruled for 8 years before handing over power to the south? No northerner has any business contesting for president next year. |

Any aspirant that would not support the south remaining 4years is not welcome,Atiku another Fulani man,no way |
| Re: Atiku And Obi Reject Single Opposition Candidate by Obakoolex(m): 5:47pm On Aug 23 |
AMINDA:You like to fool yourself with the northern block votes of 5.6 million every time, am sure you're delusional enough to believe that northern votes alone is enough to become the president in Nigeria. Northerners don't even love Atiku very much, well I wonder where he expects 25% needed from other regions this time. |
| Re: Atiku And Obi Reject Single Opposition Candidate by oyichi: 5:55pm On Aug 23 |
The question I want to ask atiku is this, if tinubu successfully wins his second term bid and decided to support wike another southerner to succeed him, what will he say? |
| Re: Atiku And Obi Reject Single Opposition Candidate by AMINDA: 6:57pm On Aug 23 |
oyichi:Nothing. If his current Northern APC members allow it, why should that be his concern? Ojukwu contested the 2007 elections under APGA after 8 years of Obasanjo. No Northerner asked him to step down. Peter Obi supported Ojukwu in that election. He was in APGA as at then. Zoning remains a strictly party affair. |

Atiku and Obi's inability to merge their structures will hand Tinubu an easy electoral victory in 2027. Atiku is egotistic while Obi is delusional. Both of them are too short-sighted to win a presidential election. Didn't they learn anything from 2023? Such old men behaving like toddlers! Unless one of them is passively working for Tinubu, there's no way any reasonable politician would think of unseating Tinubu (with all the state machinery) with a divided opposition in an unfree and unfair election like the one we hold in Nigeria. "History truly does not repeat itself, it's humans that don't learn from history". #Picks_tooth |

Single opposition or not, LET'S ALLOW NIGERIANS TO VOTE IN FREE FAIR AND CREDIBLE ELECTION. Let the election count and let's know who will win.... IS THAT TOO DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND? Nawaoo! 😎😎😎 |
| Re: Atiku And Obi Reject Single Opposition Candidate by Hemanwel(m): 10:05pm On Aug 23 |
So, as it stands now, we want to have a repeat of 2023 presidential race/candidates? Who is even the being pushing for this single opposition agenda? Couldn't the person see it from the get-go that Atiku and Obi would never sacrifice their ambitions? Please, let's allow everyone to contest! Las las, the oppositions have succeeded in giving the incumbent another term in office, on a platter! |

Two desperate politicians cannot agree to a single opposition candidate as long as it wont be either one of them....why was anybody bothering to arrange this as though they don't all belong in same party before now |
| Re: Atiku And Obi Reject Single Opposition Candidate by motymop: 10:07pm On Aug 23 |
the group is funny, but not a bad idea but it cant work now but guess what, the group is headed by Comrade Salihu Lukman Former National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the APC He joined African Democratic Congress and briefly took up a leadership mantle Lukman suspended his ADC membership out of frustration over regional leadership friction in Kaduna State, specifically citing a hostile political environment involving former Governor Nasir El-Rufai |

Atiku's brightest shot at the presidency was in 2019, and he failed to holistically chase the endeavour to a logical conclusion. At this point, he's on a profitless journey that's only going to deplete his already waning resources. Whoever is lying to the Waziri of Adamawa that he stands the chance to win the 2027 Presidential election ahead of any Southern candidate, is simply doing him a colossal disservice. |
