Former Kogi West Senator and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has urged President Bola Tinubu and members of his family to prepare to leave the Presidential Villa ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Melaye made the statement during an appearance on Arise Television's Prime Time programme on Monday.

He expressed confidence that the ADC would defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections, claiming that Nigerians were dissatisfied with the Tinubu administration.

According to him, issues including hardship, insecurity, alleged corruption and what he described as poor governance had created a disconnect between the government and citizens.

Melaye also criticised the administration's budget implementation, alleging that some contracts awarded in 2024 remained unpaid despite government borrowing to finance its budgets.

He further criticised President Tinubu over comments he attributed to the President regarding political competition, arguing that such statements were inappropriate for a sitting President.

Melaye said the outcome of the 2027 election would bring a change of government and called on Tinubu and his family to begin preparing to leave the Presidential Villa.

Current law makers need to enact a law that bans anyone with two left legs from public service.

If you cannot straighten your leg, then you have no business serving the people either by election or appointment

We're waiting for his album and dance for this season. He gave more theatrics and singing in the last campaign season, even falling down, rolling on the floor, etc. He needs to do much more, as he has competition from Obi followers and campaign team.

That is so obvious, even though he may not be aware just as he may not have been aware that he was used in 2023 to help Tinubu grab power from Buhari.

"Initially, Pat Utomi had secured the LP's presidential ticket, but when Peter Obi said he resigned from the PDP and joined the LP. Bola Tinubu, a master political strategist, quickly told Utomi, that everyone knows to be his son to step down for Obi.

"The “president-elect” saw in Obi's presidential bid, a good chance to reduce the winning chances of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

"What Peter Obi didn't know is much more that what he knows, he started collecting campaign funds from Utomi, while Tinubu was giving the money to Utomi.

"This went on until Obi's presidential campaign got to a stage it went beyond target. Obi was used without him knowing," Akinwale said after announcing his departure from the party.

Obi defected to the LP after resigning his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and also withdrawing from the presidential race under the party.

The former governor consequently joined the race for the party’s presidential ticket, while Professor Pat Utomi, in June 2022 stepped down for him to emerge as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, unopposed in Asaba, Delta State.
