FG Bans Premiere Of New Movie ‘Living In Colors,' Explains Reason by Kingzjayzee(op): 6:20am On Aug 28
The National Film and Video Censors Board, NFVCB, has taken steps to stop the planned premiere of the movie Living in Colors in Lagos.

The board said it became aware of promotional materials for the film’s media press call and premiere scheduled for this weekend at a cinema facility in the state, reports The Cable.

According to the NFVCB, preliminary investigations into the movie’s trailer allegedly revealed explicit content and content promoting same-gender relationships.

The board said the movie had not been submitted for classification, making its public exhibition or promotion illegal.

NFVCB PARTNERS WITH SECURITY AGENCIES TO STOP PREMIERE

According to Premium Times, the NFVCB disclosed that it is working with federal and state security agencies to locate, disrupt and stop the planned event.

The board also said it had contacted the management of the exhibition centre and other venue providers connected to the premiere.

The venue operators were warned that hosting an unclassified film could lead to the immediate sealing of the facility and revocation of its operational licences.

But the board’s action does not end with the planned premiere.

The NFVCB announced that legal proceedings are being initiated against Prism House Studio, as well as the individual producers and promoters involved in the movie.

It further warned content creators, cinema operators and distribution platforms against assisting in the promotion or exhibition of the film.

The board cited the NFVCB Act and the Same-gender Marriage (Prohibition) Act in explaining its position

The controversy comes just days before the movie’s planned YouTube release on August 30.

The NFVCB reiterated its commitment to enforcing Nigeria’s film and video content regulations and protecting what it described as the country’s moral and cultural values.

The producers, director, and any personnel involved in the shooting at large suppose dey jail.

Certain philosophical traditions rely on "natural law," the idea that human organs and biological functions have an inherent natural purpose. Under this view, using sexual faculties outside of their reproductive design is considered contrary to human nature.

With the way Nigerians are terrified of homosexuals, you’d think the "morals and culture" everyone is always yapping about actually made this country work. But nope. We are still sitting right here as one of the most corrupt, hypocritical nations on earth. But where do we draw the line? Men kissing men. Because according to the same men, two women kissing each other isn't so bad.

Ask the average Nigerian to explain what, exactly, is wrong with homosexuality. You already know the answers: "According to the Bible." "According to the Qur'an." "Why shouldn't a man like a woman?" And that is literally where the logic ends.

Queers are beaten, cursed, and killed in our streets like *they* are the sole reason we are still a fourth-world country. And the moment you stand up and say, "Hey, maybe let people live their lives," they turn around and call you gay too.

Life is too short. People should be allowed to live however they please. I’ve had queer friends, and if you can look past the narrative that "they want to sleep with me" (trust me, you are not even their type), you'd see they are amazing people.

P.S. I’m heterosexual. But yeah be a Nigerian, call me gay.

Sweetest news I have read in a long while! Teach this 'bold' people some sense. Tag Trump while at it, so they also have a negative international recognition. Ban any account on socials that ever give the movie any form of publicity. Stinking movie!

Go to South Africa to do your gayism. If we catch you here in Lagos, Na correct beating we go use drive the demon comot your head before we preach and lay hands on you for cleansing. When you leave good salad made for you to eat fodder kept for cattle, we treat you as a cattle. See let me tell you, Nigeria been get level and high international standing both in sports, academics and what have you before unscrupulous leaders dragged our name to the mud. You want to come and add this gayism trouble to an already troubled nation trying to regain their balance? Obama tried and failed, so who are you? I nearly vomited when I saw this abomination happening openly before my eyes in SA during the time I visited the country.

you can be gay in peace, nobody really cares to know. however, the law that govern the spaces these movies are trying to premiere bans or doesn't allow such public displays of banal depravity and being an 11th world country have nothing to do with it.
you are quick to reference development but developed societies implement their laws to the T.

you cannot chop and choose when these applications should hold. you may not agree with the law but that's an entirely different conversation. if you don't like the law, find a way to change it but until then the government is interpreting this law of the space called Nigeria accurately.
