First time I saw this first hand was when I was doing my clinical posting at a government hospital.... That evening this Chinese dude walked in to the laboratory section shivering, looking reddish like someone suffering from a chronic viral infection.... The nurse explained that the doctor needs rapid malaria diagnostic for him since microscopy will take long.... 😂😂😂 And it was positive... We later made a slide from his specimen for lecture😂😂😂

Perhaps you, not me.
I don't tolerate mosquitos anywhere there is a roof over my head and I travel with my bednet anywhere in Nigeria.

Malaria is a terrible disease. It is an organ waster.
The medications themselves are highly toxic and liver damaging over a prolonged period.

Can't wait for a potent vaccine to be widely available.

That's because our body had developed immune resistant to malaria and by the story there's no prove it was malaria from Nigeria as he left Nigeria before he got sick and died in moscow beside every foreigner coming to Nigeria are often given heavy shots of anti malaria injections like coatem and the likes i have forgotten the name before coming.

Easy for us to forget how quite lethal malaria is, due to how over exposed we have become to it. It is to us----- black west africans------ nothing more than a minor plaything. Familiarity breeds contempt, so they say and no where else is this axiom more true.

Israel arrested Mosquitoes in their forest the other day to examine what danger it brings. We are still playing with dangerous mosquitoes that transmit not only malaria but also other diseases.

Malaria sickness is so powerful and it's only in Africa and some part of Asia that we do manage it so well. I remember one time I travelled to Germany and never knew I had symptoms of malaria until I left Nigeria. You wouldn't believe that getting malaria drugs to treat me in Germany was an herculian task for the hospital I was admitted. I became extremely sick due to just ordinary malaria that i would purchase off counter drugs to treat easily in Naija. I was able to stay a bit okay by taken aspirin and one other drugs the hospital gave me. I quickly went to a pharmacy for better malaria drugs upon getting to Naija. We Africans treats malaria with levity but it's a big deal to western countries.

Note: if that guy had remained in Nigeria, he wouldn't have died. He would have made it and recover fully.

Over there they fear malaria more than hepatitis. And WHO channel all there resources to Africa when it comes to malaria, forgetting there people travel to Africa slot.

Yes, if you have malaria in the US or Europe, you are isolated and treated like an ebola patient. Mosquitoes are rare in those places and so is malaria. Besides, malaria has killed more people than any other diseases known to mankind, especially in Africa

Not necessarily fear, it's a typical case of exotic infection, an illness caused by an agent that is not native to that region. This affects the ability of the patient to heal properly due to lack of immunity. Medical professionals and medications in said region are also not best equipped for these sort of cases so the patient's chances are usually slim.

That is why it is advised to undergo malaria treatment before you travel to certain destinations, in-order to eliminate the inert parasites. If you travel without adequate treatment and fall ill with malaria there, you are at a disadvantage because they don't have malaria treatment readily available there.

The case also applies in reverse, there are certain bacteria / parasites prevalent in temperate regions that wouldn't survive in the tropics so a typical African would have no immunity to it. If you are unfortunate to contract such illness, you might be in a battle for your life. Especially aquatic bacteria / parasites, (avoid their streams, they have flesh-eating bacteria that can send you to the ICU in hours).
This part about aquatic bacteria is fuckin real.

Mosquitoes in general are very deadly.

If your antibodies are weak... you might even get something worse than malaria

There is no one as stupid as an African living in Africa.

I have been seeing this news circulating round our media since this week and to the media they are seeking for content.

What do you mean by Russian man dies after getting malaria in Nigeria?

Such news will not only scare investors, it will also portray a terrible image of Nigeria and keep away tourists.

For goodness sake, the man died in Russia. Whatever he contacted, is not our business , he died in Russia.

This is where the whites are very smart. You will never see their national news media publish news of such. That a British man died after contacting let's say hiv in Russia. Or an African man died after contacting flu in Russia.

They will never promote such negativity about their country

Can't we eliminate Malaria from Nigeria by sterilising the existing female anopheles mosquitos?

Very poor minded citizens abound in Nigeria. No clinical diagnosis stated he died from malaria, he already left Naija some two weeks back. Mayb him and his family assumed, which mayb right, but the hospital did not give out that diagnosis. More so, I’m surprised all blogs are rushing to post the news just like you said, whether to show Nigerians are strong or to insult the country. They don’t know the later is what they are doing, crazy thing happens in Naija!

Malaria kills a lot of people in Nigeria every year. It's very likely he didn't take any malaria prophylaxis.

What will the catfish pepper soup do?

They should have given him cat fish pepper soup with fresh orange juice.

No way he is going to die if he took that.

Why would an Oyinbo going to Africa for the first time not take Malaria prevention pills.
That's an act of lackadaisical utu-utu redundancy.

Even as Naija person who has stayed away for 20 30 years should be prepared to tackle Malaria when they are back.
Re: Russian Man Dies After Contracting Malaria in Nigeria by Originalsly: 9:28am On Aug 28
Let's chew on this. He was in Abuja Aug 1 to Aug 8 ... travelled to Uzbekistan . He had to be there for at least a week before he suddenly fell ill. Couldn't it be something there that caused him to fall ill? No medical treatment sought. He then travelled to Moscow ... then to Perm where he was taken to hospital but died. Specific cause of death unknown ... classified as "sudden death". But the family is claiming it was malaria contracted in Nigeria.... and here we are running with the narrative ... we swallow without question whatever negative a foreigner says about Nigeria ... then repeat it. Malaria dies kill .... but we all know the symptoms ... none if which was mentioned ... but he died of malaria ... contracted in Nigeria.

I want to understand something.

Malaria brings fever, abi?

Even too much cold in one's body brings fever too, abi?

If we drink contaminated water or food, fever may also come in, am i right?

Am just trying to understand something. I think malaria is just a type of fever.
We nigerians tend to generalize fever as only malaria.

You forgot to add that it's because of our body immunity building Defence mechanism result to formation of sickle is cell diseases. Over thousands of years we mutate to survive malaria and this result to formation of sickle cell disease. We can blame it on mosquitoes.

Some people will say AS guys don't fall to Malaria often but if u are AA, that increase your chance of falling ill

Female mosquitoes you have caused so much death in Africa that one baby dies of malaria every five minutes
Re: Russian Man Dies After Contracting Malaria in Nigeria by Love800(m): 9:39am On Aug 28
There is no way you can completely eradicate mosquitoes from africa.
You can only control it by taking care of your surroundings as you rightly said. Also drinking herbs, spices that can prevent it, taking medications when you fall ill of it.

NIgeria is what is called a holoendemic country. That means that most of us have immunity to malaria, especially once you pass the age of five (and I have met someone with 3 plus of malaria, yet he dey feel all right).

Russians, and other europeans do not have immunity to malaria because they go never see mosquitoes in their life (Italy used to be malaria endemic, until their government drained all the swamps in the 1930's)...so when coming to NIgeria, they must take paludrine for the duration of their stay there. It also goes for many Asians and North Americans. If they don't...in my job I have treated foreigners who did not take paludrine, thinking that e no go happen to them. At least one ended up on dialysis...malaria damaged his kidney.

Of course, some NIgerians die from malaria, especially children, and HIV patients whose immunity has been damaged by the disease, and those who suffer from other illnesses that damage their immunity.
