Bolt Cleared To Commence Its Services At Federal Airports - FAAN by AnonPoet(op): 5:59am On Aug 29
Following my directive to FAAN to urgently address the issue of exorbitant taxi fare increases at our airports, the issue has been resolved as follows:

“ FAAN appreciates members of the travelling public for their patience and understanding during the recent period of inconvenience occasioned by efforts to establish an agreeable and sustainable operational framework for e-hailing services at FAAN-managed airports. For nearly a decade, FAAN has been working to address challenges arising from the activities of commercial and e-hailing vehicles within the airport environment, including increasing cases of passenger solicitation and touting, unregulated operations, random pick-ups, and associated safety, security and accountability concerns.

These challenges, which in some instances involve drivers operating across more than one platform, have made it necessary for the Authority to strengthen the management and visibility of commercial transportation within the airport.

It was in response to these concerns that FAAN introduced *ACHRAMS (Airport Car Hire Rank Management System),* a queue-management and airport transportation management system designed to bring greater structure, visibility and accountability to the operations of authorised airport car-hire services.

*ACHRAMS is not an e-hailing application and was never conceived as a competitor to Uber, Bolt or any other mobility platform.* Its function is limited to the management of airport car-hire ranks and the authorised operations associated with them.

FAAN supports healthy competition and does not seek to create or promote a monopoly in airport transportation.

It is also important to clarify that the fares highlighted in some of the recent public discussions were not rates newly imposed by FAAN or created by ACHRAMS. Airport taxi fares have existed independently of the application, and the rates themselves were not substantially different from those previously applicable.

What ACHRAMS introduced was greater visibility and transparency around the prevailing airport-taxi rates, making the cost more readily apparent to passengers. FAAN recognises, however, that the comparison with the lower fares passengers had become accustomed to through e-hailing platforms understandably heightened public concern.

FAAN is aware of and deeply appreciates the concerns expressed by passengers over the increased cost and inconvenience experienced during the temporary interruption of e-hailing services.

We sincerely apologise for the difficulties this caused our passengers.

While the Authority's actions were driven by regulatory, safety and security considerations rather than economic interests, FAAN acknowledges that the immediate impact on passengers was significant.

We have listened, reflected and made the necessary adjustments.

The Authority is therefore pleased to announce that, following constructive engagements, *FAAN and Bolt have reached an agreeable operational framework and Bolt is cleared to commence its services at FAAN-managed airports immediately.*

The resolution demonstrates that it is possible to protect the integrity and security of the airport environment while preserving the convenience and freedom of choice that e-hailing services provide to passengers.

FAAN remains engaged with other e-hailing operators and is confident that the outstanding discussions will be concluded in the coming days.

FAAN reiterates that passengers remain free to choose from available transportation options that best meet their needs. Our responsibility is to ensure that whichever authorised service they choose operates within a safe, secure, orderly and accountable airport environment.

The Authority thanks the travelling public for its patience and understanding and assures passengers that *their safety, security, convenience and overall airport experience remain at the centre of FAAN's decisions.*

Who said social media "outrage" does not work. 😅 Yen, yen yen they already had it under process.

If people had not pushed back against the spike, they'd have used bureaucracy to stall it, or force Bolt to match the new outrageous price.

Nonetheless, well done FAAN.
Re: Bolt Cleared To Commence Its Services At Federal Airports - FAAN by Parachoko: 6:18am On Aug 29
It's likely because of the Oyinbo man who complained about the outrageous price he was charged at the Airport

Nigerians don lambast them well well, so they are now given room for competition

With Bolt now in, it will bring competition

E go shock you say na one ogar at the top been wan coner that one into his pocket hence the dictatorship dey wanted to introduce. Is it not madness that FAAN will be the one to tell people what car to enter? Then banning other taxi services? They wanted to introduce monopoly

What ACHRAMS introduced was greater visibility and transparency around the prevailing airport-taxi rates, making the cost more readily apparent to passengers.

You see this bolded,

FAAN will still determine Airport Taxi rate in ACHRAMS and Bolt or Uber will have to comply with ACHRAMS rate...

Must every government agency become a revenue generating entity?

That’s what Lagos state has turned to. The number one priority of agencies is to earn revenue.

So it took a ridicule from a foreigner to do the right thing. Imagine, hailing a FAAN approved taxi from the airport to ikeja for #30,000. I wonder what the likes of Badagry, Ikorodu, Epe, Apapa and island would've cost.
Re: Bolt Cleared To Commence Its Services At Federal Airports - FAAN by mascot87(m): 6:54am On Aug 29
I wouldn't say much but I know for sure that FAAN might have probably reach an agreement with Bolt on some fixed price incentives that wouldn't be not too different from what the airport taxis are charging. At the end, it will still be a win-win for the airport taxis and the bolt drivers/company and not necessarily the passengers.

So does it mean that bolt drivers can enter airports to pick up passengers?

I hope PH airport driver's stop their high prices
Re: Bolt Cleared To Commence Its Services At Federal Airports - FAAN by hatchy: 7:20am On Aug 29
I see the prices of the traditional Airport taxis crashing to lowest due to the competition.

Many of them may abandon the the traditional taxi union and join Bolt now because many passengers will definitely shit to the easiest and convenient way of moving to and from the airport to their destination.

Competition brings out the best. Let Tinubu allow free, fair, credible and competitive election in 2027 let the best win

3-4 years back, they were charging N15k for trips for which Bolt would charge like N3,500.

Great! It’s a solid step in the right direction for Bolt to get the green light.

It has always been like that.
Asked one of them that charged me 55k to Lekki one late, late past midnight flight why. And the answer was the returns they have to make to FAAN.

The airports have become major revenue collection centres of government. So it is a national, political question whether this should be.

You drive into the airport and you pay at the gates. You park and when you exit and pay again for time on their lots. Double billing to the same agency....why.

Then when there is stuff to be done at the airports government takes foreign loans and guess what. You pay again via inflation, subsidy cuts and whatever.

I think the public should pursue the privatisation of all airports across Nigeria to find the true value of these things,.these services. The public is just being cheated.

How can an agency that depends 100 percent on taxpayers money be charging exorbitantly for services.

Ridiculous.

Why not other E-riders. Why bolt alone. The kind of agreement they made with bolt will still be to their own advantage. I won't be surprised that an outrageous fixed cost will be levied probably per day on them. And the same customers will beat the burden.

Na the koko be this.

Those airport drivers will gang up against Bolt drivers to the extent that they will be afraid to accept airport rides.

Hopefully FAAN puts modalities to checkmate that.

It took just 1 vocal traveler to make FAAN bend their policy.
If he had kept quiet the leaches would still be sapping Nigerians till 2027 the end of Tinubu regime .
