| Re: What If Atiku Wins The 2027 Election? by nairalanda1(m): 4:03am On Aug 29 |
Obogidi:He won't return the fuel subsidy... 1. The removal of fuel subsidy is enshrined in law. The PIA , sections 205 and 207 essentially say that the market should set the prices of fuel. Unless he wants to revoke the law, which he cannot do just like that, he needs the NA for that, and we do not know how the NA election would turn out to be..nothing can be done. 2. Nigeria has been borrowing to fund the budget for over ten years, and right now, borrowing is funding half of this year's budget. This is partly because subsidy payments till 2023 hindered our ability to raise enough revenue to pay for budgets, which worsened our debt, which is why ironically the tinubu government is borrowing more than other governments. And our revenue is not going to increase. Nigerians have rejected the government widening the tax base, and the government has not diversifed our revenue streams, and even if they got serious about it today, it would take a very long time before we see returns. So, any subsidy return would mean essentially that we are paying for it with borrowed money. 3. Because the pricing of crude oil is volatile and is not controlled by government...government cannot determine it, no matter what anyone says...a subsidy on crude, which is what atiku is talking about...is not going to work. The problem with subsidy is, the government can budget say N12 trillion naira for it for say next year, and then all of a sudden, oil prices rise during the year, pushing up subsidy costs, and leading to government having to borrow to pay for the increased cost, which means more borrowing. This is the situation, whether we do subsidy on 'petrol leaving the refinery' or subsidy based on selling crude at low prices to the refinery. Government cannot control actual production costs...and trying to do so would end in more borrowing. It's even worse if crude oil prices fall. Not only does available revenue to pay for subsidy costs fall, but subsidy costs in naira may also rise, meaning more borrowing , meaning ...same story. People abuse me on this site for saying this, but the problem with subsides is that production costs are not static. Unless your country is less than 50 million and producing eleven million barrels of crude a day, meaning that the revenue can pay for refinery maintenance and upgrades, and even pay for subsides and still have some left over, no country, oil producting or otherwise, can sustain subsides. Atiku's economic advisors would tell him that , if they were honest. |

| Re: What If Atiku Wins The 2027 Election? by nairalanda1(m): 4:48am On Aug 29 |
Validated:I don't recall being your boss. there is what is called EXECUTIVE ORDER.And he would execute the order with which funds? Darling, the maintenance of subsidy beyond 1993 is why we do not have the money to pay for it. That is my argument, really. It doesn't matter who wins, the issue is, no one can bring back subsidy. Without impacting more debt on the nation, which you would not enjoy. (And remember, if the nation breaks up, IMF just simply shares the debt among the new nations. You can't say no) Are you ready to abuse me again? ![]() |

AWONEYAN:Let me educate you Atiku will get over 80% of total votes cast in each of the 19 Northern States. He will get over 25% from each state in South West. He will get over 40% votes in each state in South South. In South East, Atiku will also get over 25% of votes cast in East of the State. You claimed Atiku won't win any State in his own region (North) , except Adamawa. For your mind, you things people in the North are dummies? Make una dey make mouth online. We go show una shegeh this election. Una go see votes wey una never see from North and all will go to Atiku. A quick question. How Tinubu wan come campaign for North is what I am wondering now. With the way Northerners hate him so Anyways. It's not ya fault. You are paid to defend Tinubu |

Obogidi:He cant return it. Confidence in the economy and tbe Naira would begin to plunge. The states and local governments would fight it to a standstill. The best he can do is to ameliorate tbe suffering masses. |

nairalanda1:At this point you are a big nuisance and should give it a rest. You're sounding like a broken record and merely irritating people's 'ear drums'. Stop being such an irritant. The only thing worth responding to here is the "enshrined in law" nonsense. How many laws has your Tinubu casually used his lame duck National Assembly to amend within just three miserable years of his government? What makes you think Atiku or any other president cannot do the same? Is the so-called PIA a law of nature or a law made by man? If Nigerians make the mistake of allowing Tinubu to sneak back into office, who says he would not amend the constitution to extend his tenure?.. Again I say, give it a rest and stop offending sensibilities with this obnoxious repetitive echo chamber position of yours. |

grandstar:There was something I’ve been saying since Tinubu started his so called reforms. I said any government that comes after him will reverse or cancel most of the nonsense he’s doing in the name of reforms and there’s nothing him or his band of supporters can do about it. That time is near. |

Atiku presidency will be 100 times worst than this. People will see leaves on the road and call it money. Una go learn in a hard way. |
| Re: What If Atiku Wins The 2027 Election? by AVAVictor1: 7:14am On Aug 29 |
It's only God and if the election requirements are changed but as for this next coming election H.E Atiku cannot get 25% from any southern states and state like kogi, kwara, and Benue. So with these he can win next year election no matter the sentimental politics they may play in the Northern part. In direct H.E cannot get 25% in 24-25 states of the federation even though he get 30millions vote in the Northern part. |

| Re: What If Atiku Wins The 2027 Election? by grandstar(m): 7:41am On Aug 29 |
Sheuns:What nonsense are you saying. His 2 biggest reforms, which are the ending tbe fuel subsidy and floating of the Naira were policies Atiku and Obi said they would also implement. Let me be very frank with you: no democratic government can easily reverse these 2 reforms. It would involve due process. The 36 state governors who have enjoyed massive increases in their monthly allocation due to these 2 policies would fighy to the end any attempt to reverse. Only the military has the capacity to end these policies overnight. I wont waste my time telling you why the reforms were necessary. |

NOT FEASIBLE. ATIKU IS NOT A NIGERIAN. HE IS VERY SCANDALOUS, UNPATRIOTIC AND PRESUMPTUOUS. ATIKU IS AN ILLITERATE. HE DOESN'T KNOW SUPPLY AND DEMAND BASIC INFLATION AND HOW TO CONTROL THEM. ATIKU WILL SCATTER NIGERIA FROM YOLA TO LEKKI. |

| Re: What If Atiku Wins The 2027 Election? by Sheuns(m): 9:09am On Aug 29 |
grandstar:Well Atiku has said he’ll return fuel subsidy. Tinubu was against the removal in 2012 but made a U turn in 2023 and removed it. The only constant in life is change. You won’t waste your time telling how the reforms are necessary because you guys cannot convince the average joe what he benefits from the so called reform. |

Obogidi:Let me remind you of what Tinubu promised then https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cF5ltjD7xQ President Bola Tinubu made the famous statement "E lo fókànbalę, a máa gbé wálè" (meaning "Put your mind at rest, we will bring it down" on January 25, 2023.He said it during his presidential campaign rally at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State. During the rally, Tinubu was addressing the severe fuel scarcity and naira shortages plaguing Nigeria under the Muhammadu Buhari administration at the time. Speaking to the crowd in Yoruba, he accused saboteurs of intentionally driving up prices to threaten his election bid: "Wón ní epo máa wón, ó máa di ₩200, ó máa di ₩500. E lo fókànbalè, a máa gbé wále." ("They said fuel would become expensive, that it would reach #200 or #500. Put your mind at rest; we will bring it down.) I don't need to tell you the first thing he did on May 29.

Obogidi:Its just a bait being used by a desperate man to achieve success during his last shot at presidency. Nobody will become president, see how much he will achieve without subsidy and return it. He would rather maintain it and put the blame on Tinubu(Mind you, buhari actually removed the fuel subsidy shortly before he left government) |
