Those of you defending the rubbish talks of the minister. Where in the constitution is a minister granted power to order arrests of defaulters?

Aren’t we in a democracy anymore where the rule of law must be obeyed? If someone defaulted, you should sue or report such to the law enforcement agencies and let them do their jobs.

Shamelessness of a minister. Upon what grounds did a company with no proven track record of performance get awarded that contract? Nigerian construction companies have shown themselves to be totally incompetent. Examples exist all over the country. They do roads today and before tomorrow, rains wash the roads away. Shoddiness is their watch word. Or is it the myriad collapsing houses all over the country?

This same Umahi assembled a local assembly of riff-raffs who call themselves indigenous contractors and gave them the Ebonyi airport project to do. It is not up to 4 years and that airport sits unusable. The roofs are leaking heavily. The current Ebonyi governor still had to expend billions paying for repairs.

Local contractors are simply not up to the job. We can't keep wasting the resources of this country on companies that lack the ability to perform.

Commander in Chief of the armed forces that can order arrest, are you people sure that 10% kickback did not exchange hands?

A minister can order the arrest of a defaulting contractor. He just needs to use the police attached to his office to do that and inform the IGP.

But then, I don't think the arrest is necessary; he should just compel the company to do the damn job. Nigerians want to see solutions, not threats and arrests.

His ministry went into contractual agreement with heartland and even if he was not the minister at the time... he is the minister now and has the right and legitimacy to see to the fulfilment of the contract

No mind am. He is just trying to save face. I believe there was no such funds paid to this contractor. This Tinubu's government have not been funding projects in the Country. All they do is to syphon funds meant for projects.

Thats why Senate invited the Minister of finance over none funding of projects few weeks ago.

Minister has absolutely no power to order the arrest of someone.

By his proclamation, the legal dept in the ministry will swing into action. the legal dept can not even act until the minister instruct them and atleast one person in that dept is part of the inspection team to take note of the minister's proclamation and act on it immediately.

You are the one who is ill-informed, the minister has no powers to order the arrest of anyone with fiat.

If his ministry has issues with anyone for non-performance then they should petition the police and take up the process from there
