CAN PRAYER CHANGE WHAT GOD ALMIGHTIEST HAS ALREADY DECIDED? If GOD ALMIGHTIEST has already established His will concerning a matter, can the prayers of a man cause HIM to change that decision? This is a question that deserves more than religious opinions. It deserves SCRIPTURE. Some say, “Pray until GOD changes the situation.” Others say, “Prayer does not change GOD. Prayer brings us into agreement with HIS will.” But what does the scripture actually reveal? Did Abraham’s prayer change GOD’s decision concerning Sodom? Did Moses change GOD’s mind when he interceded for Israel? Did Hezekiah’s prayer alter what had already been spoken concerning his death? Did Jonah’s preaching cause Nineveh to experience a different outcome? And if GOD ALMIGHTIEST is omniscient, knowing the end from the beginning, what does it actually mean when scripture speaks of GOD “repenting,” “relenting,” or changing a declared course of action? There is another question that goes even deeper: If GOD has already determined the outcome, was the prayer itself already part of HIS divine purpose? And what about CHRIST JESUS? When HE prayed in Gethsemane, “Not MY will, but THINE, be done,” was HE attempting to change the Father’s decision, or was HE submitting to the will that had already been established? So let us settle this properly: Does prayer change GOD’S mind, or does prayer accomplish what GOD has already purposed through the prayers of HIS people? No assumptions. No denominational arguments. No emotional conclusions. Bring the SCRIPTURE. CAN PRAYER CHANGE WHAT GOD ALMIGHTIEST HAS ALREADY DECIDED? |

Prayer does not change God’s unchanging mind or eternal decree, but God sovereignly uses prayer as an ordained means to bring about His chosen results. |

It depends. (1) Prayer can never change the word of God. (2) Prayer can change a decision God made, like in the Bible, God through a prophet told Hezekiah that He will die, but Hezekiah prayed and 15years was added to his years by God. (3) God may change a decision if you pray strongly in a self-centered or self-willed way outside His will, but you will face the consequences. (4) God will not change his decision concerning certains, no matter how hard you pray. |

h777:NO, but his intercession provided mercy Did Moses change GOD’s mind when he interceded for Israel?NO, but mercy was made available so that the children lived only the adults perished Did Hezekiah’s prayer alter what had already been spoken concerning his death?NO, he died but mercy gave him an extension (grace period) of 15years which he misused Did Jonah’s preaching cause Nineveh to experience a different outcome? If God wanted to destroy them He wouldn't send, almost force Jonah to preach to them. Howbeit they wasted God's mercy and were later destroyed And if GOD ALMIGHTIEST is omniscient, knowing the end from the beginning, what does it actually mean when scripture speaks of GOD “repenting,” “relenting,” or changing a declared course of action?God doesn't know the end, He decides and makes the end. God has already proclaimed that the end of the wicked is destruction, He speaks the end from the beginning and His word surely comes to pass. God knows all things because He sees all, He searches the hearts of men to know what they desire and plan that's why He is all knowing and nothing can be hidden from Him. If a man doesn't change His ways, God makes a destructive tomorrow for him but if that man repents, God makes a new beginning gives him new life and a hope for eternal life There is another question that goes even deeper:We pray to know God's will, we pray for God's will to be fulfilled but we also pray to ask God to grant us our desire and He doesn't when it's inline with His will for our lives. Usually God has a definite will for us and a large room where we can receive what we desire from Him within that will, that largeness also accommodates our errors and mistakes as well. That is the mercy of God and why holy men of old would act according to their desire and still not fall away from God's will even though they may get punished for their mistakes. it doesn't hinder God's will. It is God's will for us to pray so that we continually remain in His will in all our ways. And what about CHRIST JESUS?He understood that WITH GOD ALL THINGS ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE (GOOD ESPECIALLY) God's will was for Christ to manifest the glory of God through resurrection from the dead. God sent Jesus for us to listen to even though He knew the wicked will kill him. Jesus prayed God heard, that tortured may have lasted longer if not for the mercy of God. Jesus cried to the one who had power to deliver Him from death and God indeed rose him from death. Jesus was submitting to the will of God, and pray helped him overcome his flesh. He told his disciples to watch and pray least they fall. Maybe if Jesus didn't pray when the Roman governor told Jesus he could free him, Jesus would not have said it is in God's hand what happens to me and may have fallen short of God's will and plan So let us settle this properly:prayer reveals God's mind, and like you wrote prayer accomplish what GOD has already purposed through the prayers of HIS people |

To address whether prayer changes God's mind or accomplishes what He has purposed, here is my perspective supported by scriptures God's Character and Decrees Do Not Change. Scripture explicitly states that God does not change His core nature, His perfect character, or His ultimate sovereign decrees. i. Numbers 23:19 – "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" ii. Malachi 3:6 – "For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed." iii. Isaiah 46:9–10 – "Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure." iv. James 1:17 – "With whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." Because God possesses total foreknowledge and absolute perfection, He does not alter His eternal purpose due to unforeseen circumstances or better information. Answer Summarised: Prayer does not alter God's eternal decrees or force Him to change His mind. Rather, prayer accomplishes what Almighty God has already purposed, utilizing the prayers of His people as the ordained instrument to execute His will. |

H777 Jas.5.16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (NIV) Prov.15.29 The LORD is far from the wicked but he hears the prayer of the righteous. Hab.2.4 "See, he is puffed up; his desires are not upright- but the righteous will live by his faith - (Gal 3:11) Rom.10.17 So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself). (AMP) So the righteous are those who live by the words of God, Christ Jesus taught us and not by their own desires nor lusts. Jas.4.1 - What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Isn't it the whole army of evil desires at war within you? Jas.4.2 - You want what you don't have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous for what others have, and you can't possess it, so you fight and quarrel to take it away from them. And yet the reason you don't have what you want is that you don't ask God for it. Jas.4.3 - And even when you do ask, you don't get it because your whole motive is wrong--you want only what will give you pleasure. Jas.4.4 - You adulterers! Don't you realize that friendship with this world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again, that if your aim is to enjoy this world, you can't be a friend of God. Jas.4.5 - What do you think the Scriptures mean when they say that the Holy Spirit, whom God has placed within us, jealously longs for us to be faithful? Jas.4.6 - He gives us more and more strength to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say, "God sets himself against the proud, but he shows favor to the humble." May I also add Jas.4.7 - So humble yourselves before God. Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you. Jas.4.8 - Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, you hypocrites. Jas.4.9 - Let there be tears for the wrong things you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. Jas.4.10 - When you bow down before the Lord and admit your dependence on him, he will lift you up and give you honor. Rom.12.2 Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is. (NLT) |

If we say our prayers alter God's original plan, what we are saying invariably is,we know more than the omnipresent, omnipotentand the omniscient,ie,he planned to give you yellow but because we know more than He does that black is better for us,so we pray for Him to give us black and then He changes the plan to black. My question, how can we claim to know more than the Almighty when we don't even know what will happen in the next hour?I urge us just like Jesus did, pray for the black but if His will is the yellow,so be it,may His grace be sufficient for us to accept His will for our life,His plan for us are plans of good we must trust Him on that. |

Yes prayers may change God's decision but not his eternal decree! You can entreat the mercies of God. To the Ninevites God refrained from destroying them when they did penitence in the place of prayer. Hezekiah had more years to live when he entreated the mercies of God. His Steadfastness never ceaseth and His mercies never comes to an end. |

ebubeson:This is utter nonsense. God is separate from NOTHING. EVERYTHING THAT EXISTS, IS AN ASPECT OF GOD. IF YOU PICK UP A STONE AND SPEAK INCANTATIONS INTO IT, IMBUING IT WITH YOUR SPIRITUAL ENERGY, YOU CAN USE IT AS A VEHICLE TO GOD OR THE DIVINE. YOU CAN PLACE IT ON YOUR TABLE AND TEND TO IT LIKE A SHRINE, AND IT WILL CARRY YOUR PRAYER TO THE DIVINE. YOUR PROBLEM IS THAT YOUR KNOWLEDGE COMES FROM THE GREEKS. BABIES OF YESTERDAY. THE GREEKS WHO WERE REFERRED TO BY OUR ANCESTORS, THE BLACK AFRICAN PRIEST TEACHERS OF EGYPT THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO, AS ''CHILDREN IN THE MYSTERIES''. The children have now turned your teachers..
