Mr Paul Ibe, media aide to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has asked President Bola Tinubu to allow the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, to do its job regarding his alleged drug trafficking case.


In a post on his verified X handle, Atiku’s aide said President Tinubu should not block the release of the records if he is as clean as claimed.

DAILY POST recalls that Tinubu had filed a challenge in a US court to prevent the Department of Justice and the FBI from releasing records linked to allegations of drug trafficking.


The President said the release of the records could infringe on his privacy.

A United States-based policy advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, alleged that Tinubu was fighting hard to keep records of his alleged drug trafficking hidden.

Reacting, the former Vice President’s media aide said, “If Tinubu does not have anything to hide, why is he blocking the release of the drug probe records like Dan Blocker? Only the guilty are afraid.”

Former US Congressman William Jefferson was convicted of soliciting bribes on behalf of Nigerian officials. During the FBI investigation, agents famously found $90,000 in cash — money Jefferson said was intended for Atiku — hidden in his freezer.

A US Senate report (Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, 2010) later alleged that Atiku’s wife, Jennifer Douglas-Abubakar, an American citizen, helped move over $40 million in suspect funds into the US through offshore companies between 2000 and 2008, and separately alleged she’d received bribe payments from Siemens AG.

According to reports from that period, Atiku and his wife did not accept summons and subpoenas to appear before the US court , and one account claims they moved their family to Dubai and put their Potomac, Maryland mansion up for sale, with US Justice Department officials saying arrest warrants had been issued against the couple

Nigeria's image is already damaged with this drug trafficking allegations if it were to be in civilised countries tinibu would have long resigned honourably and also apologised to nigerians.

President Tinubu is not blocking anything because he can't block it.

It's an FOIA request that he is a subject of, he can't intervene in the pipeline of information despite being the subject.

FBI can either release documents it has, if any, ot go to a higher court. As it is, they have given a glomar response and everyone has moved on including Greenspan who has fallen out with Hundeyin.
