DiY hazards. Be careful as you parade as a professional [/quote

This kind of hazard is common with lithium ion assembled batteries. That's the reason I always avoid those cells in battery building.

Lifepo4 cells are more stable and require fewer cells (especially the prismatic ones) to build than lithium ion cells.

The lack of power is truly truncating our development as a nation. My heart bleeds for every Nigerian living in darkness; so many opportunities have been lost to this. A serious nation should declare a state of emergency on education, transportation, and power. Whenever I visit Chinese forums, their discussions are miles ahead of what is obtainable in African forums. I stumbled upon a Chinese electric vehicle forum recently, and the discussion made me sad.

Rant over.
We're yet to get started. It's reason I kukuma decided to build my own world around me because if you complain, or try to hold those in charge accountable, you end up being the odd one.

But then again, you can't really blame those in power WHEN they actually are beneficiaries (in)directly. South Africans didn't wait for their gunMent to chase those who were chased away. When we ready, if we ever get ready, we would forget tribe, politics, etc and do what's necessary. Issue be say e fit no happen even in the time of our children to come. even the WESTern worlds are beneficiaries.

There are so many opposing views on this. Some say it's best before, others after. I'm with the after team.

I put SPDs go on the output (load side) of a breaker, not the input.

My reason is simple, the SPD's core part (usually an MOV) is built to eventually fail, often shorting when it degrades from repeated surge duty. If there's no breaker between it and the busbar, that failure becomes an uncleared fault. So the breaker sits upstream, feeding the SPD, giving you overcurrent protection if the MOV fails and a way to isolate the SPD for testing without causing further issues.

this exactly similar to what I meant when I mentioned the power stations that was everywhere then while responding to leadAcid vs Lithium battery comment above.

Issue be say dem sabi get clients willing to pay.

This observation of yours, which ain't any different from those that happened during the power station (forgotten the local names than), is why I often suggest People who can't afford quality Lithium based batteries, focus on quality leadAcid batteries.

Funny enough, the likes of mr Valto started from there before transitioning fulling into Lithium battery packs.

See eh, a high quality 18650 cell would always be better and mayBe safer than low quality Lifepo4 cells. A different chemistry doesn't automatically compensate for other lapses

If you don't like fan noise or you install close to where noise will be an issue for you. You may want to consider different brand, Chief.

My answer is more about reliability and not fan noise.

see eh, don't have much experience with luxSun brand BUT just once i encountered it, not really worth it. If funds are low, better off with Haisic or SAKO or Genus hybrid inverters going by the budget you told me.

Have installed Genus Hi-Flo 4.2kVA 24V about 3 times and even prefer it to Haisic.

Also instead of 3kva, go for 4.2kva that way you rarely would hit 70% load which means longer service life of ya inverter. 3 freezers constantly coming OFF and ON no be moimoi + you still wan use pumping machine.

By convention, when a computer's or inverter's fan stays ON for long and is even loud, means it's over working. And lots of cheap inverters fit dey show 20% load YET their Fan go dey blow like where Fat man wey pursue pregnant goat dey breath. luxSun inverters are like that even when almost no load.

Also be very very careful buying USEd inverters from market. The miracles wey dey happen no be here.

Often I recommend 48v system for inverters above 3.5kva, BUT going by economic realities, nothing spoil at 4.2kva of 24v so long you don't load it much.

Let's not be mistaken, my review ain't about Fan noise BUT perceived quality + durability.

But let's hear from more experienced pals in here. Possibly installers, engineers and end users share their experience dem forget to program am to off.
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Beframia: 4:46am On Aug 29
Coincidentally I'm using the Genus Hi-Flo 4.2kVA 24V paired with a 3kwh luxwatt battery, the fan is always on but not to the extent it could disturb my sleep, where it's mounted isn't up to 10 feet away from the wall it shares with the room I sleep once in a while. The only time the fan becomes very noisy is when the sun's intensity increases suddenly (not all the time) and also when I decide to do a quick off-grid ironing (pressing iron is about 2000w).
The noise isn't even my concern anyways but my total setup's output - the highest PV reading I've ever seen is 1.1kw even during peak sun hours. I use three 685w bifacial Runergy panels mounted on the roof.
My questions are:
1. Is this output good enough even though I hardly overwork the system, highest load percentage is 7% when my fridge is on?
2. Will there be any difference if the panels are mounted on a carport since they are bifacial?

Those readings you see on screen are dependent on different things. The inverter draws needed power so installing 10kw solar panels BUT giving load of 2kw doesn't mean the inverter would draw 10kw. na that 2kw we e need e go draw + losses of course.

Another could be weather, position, dust, or output of solar panels. During the day, output drops mostly when sun is very hot. Could even be one the of the panels misBehaving or even the cables.

As for mounting on carPort, that might not automatically solve issues that might not exist. Yes it would help with cooling since it would be cooler on the carport than on top the roof.

Ask your installer, if He/She says all is well, then that just might be true. Else check siize of cables, distance, etc.

For person who asked about SAKO, me sef dey confuse because I have opened like 6 and the boards ain't always same. A lot of these inverters are same behind the packaging. In other words, SAKO and luxSun inverter could be same thing with different packaging.

Good morning house, there is this issue I am having with a client's Sako 4.2kva inverter.

This inverter was bought on Saturday 23 May 2026, it was installed for the customer on Monday 25 May 2026. The second day Tuesday, I was called in the afternoon that the inverter suddenly went dead.

My connection was 4 jinko 620w panels connected in series. I went to pick it up from the customer and returned to the seller for fixing. According to him, he sent it to Sako service center in Alaba.

I had to install a stop gap of welion 4.2kva inverter so the man won't feel offended while this issue is being resolved. The welion has been working fine with no issues so far.

After a month, I was called to come pick it up only for me to realise I was sent another person's inverter, The one I brought is still new because it was used for just one day. I returned it to the seller that this is not mine.

After like 3 weeks mine was returned looking so rough, with scratches all over it, I was not happy seeing it (brand new inverter for that matter).

I took it home, decided to test it in my shop before taking it to the customer only to detect it wasn't charging the battery. I had to return it with note "mppt not charging properly" so that the engineers will know what to work on.

After like 6 weeks and several calls, this inverter was returned, I decided to test it in my shop again. I intend to test it for 2 weeks, then decide whether I should continue using it myself and leaving the stop gap for the customer because the Sako was already looking so rough with many scratches, the client won't like it.

After three days of usage, I came to shop one morning around 11am only for me to meet this inverter dead again. My battery already entered protection mode "faild to release scp". This inverter would have also killed the battery if not for good bms.

I have returned it again.
They claimed maybe it is my connection, I told them no, because the two places this inverter has developed fault so far (client's house and my shop) have Inverters of the same specs working there with no issues.
They have taken it to the service center again.

My fear now is what is the assurance that after repairs, this issue still won't come up?

Does sako replace Inverters for customers? If yes, how can I go about it?

This is the issue with some sellers.
They could have just replaced the inverter with a new one instead of tossing you about. I would have asked you to drop the name of the seller for the sake reference.

Major reason I tend to never rely on Warantee + Guarantee marketing slogans. Imagine say you didn't have spare to give to said client. or all the extra stress + costs you've been going through.

Doubt they would. Those people are like insurance companies when it's time to pay claims.

At the bolded, that to me is too short to make any meaningful comparison.

To best of ma knowledge, main advantage of 18650 batteries is they can contain more power in smaller size and still have higher voltage 3.6v to 3.7v compared to LiFePO4's 3.2v

Before LiFePO4, 18650 served us well well. Yea LiFePO4 is good, doesn't mean 18650 is entirely useless. A well-built 18650 pack fit even outperform some anyhow LiFePO4 wey full market.

you're point bro.. laptops uses it till date. Mostly all this 6th gen and below even 8th.

Only latest gen switched from 18650 to flat lithium cells.

The shock now is even when SUNKING came into existence to the nigeria market, if you open their battery pack na 18650 full am.. take it or leave it.

My submission is, let's forget the videos online that 18650 got burnt, the guy uses an low end BMS to assemble the battery but i can tell you for a fact, if you have a professional handle your battery you're good to go.

This is just the point. I have a 7S/16P soldering/welding free DIY battery pack made with extracted 18650 cells of around 2Ah each and with a smart 50Amp JBD BMS to monitor what ever is happening inside the pack. With this I can easily detect any cell going bad in the pack and change it seamlessly. I have recently gotten another one of 7S/24P of the same built specifications and they are both serving very well. The first is cycling around 0.7kwh while the other is about 0.9kwh

I only know of DALLY SMART BMS which can be monitored with the app

I've installed and started using it since Sunday afternoon

This was the final installation

1. 6KVA Deye hybrid inverter

2. 16KWH Deye lithium battery

3. Jinko Bifacial 725W panel. 8 pcs

It's been an awesome experience so far as I'm yet to use generator since I switched and the lowest battery percentage I've closed with was around 12:30am at night which was 48%.

Now I don't panic when there's no light or when my light trips off, which it did this morning.
I'd even say I've only used light to charge the inverter this previous night, aside that it's all been the panel. The panel almost always, even at slightly cloudy times, give more power than the shop consumes.

Thanks house for all the advice and I'd like to hear more advice in terms of maintenance, what to do and what not to do.
Good morning house

There's something I observed from my panels.

I installed 725w jinko bifacial panels 8 pcs which should give a highest wattage of 5.8kw at peak production

However I've observed the inverter doesn't read more than 3.7kw no matter how hot the weather gets.

Is this okay? If not what could possibly be the reasons. I must add it serves me well even as it is but one wants to get the most out of what one spends money on so I'd like to know the reasons and possible solutions

Thanks

I have personally said this multiple times, even yesterday sef. The inverter draws what it needs. Having 10kw solar panels, no matter how Original they are, or quality of everything you have, or how much sun is available or even installed on carPort. if your load doesn't request more than 2kw, then you would never see a draw of more than 2kw on the inverter's LCD.

Also observe that when your battery is low, and starts charging, even if you switch off every other load, the readings would always increase BUT would later drop gradually as the battery fills up.

No need looking for what ain't missing. Just ensure all is well and leave the rest. Na when weather dey very bad, you go know.

Also, mentioning 8pcs of 725w solar panels, without stating other things such as battery type, battery voltage and capacity, inverter capacity, etc.

so long you or your installer has confirmed all is well, and you know the weather around you is okay (mind you we currently in rainy season), only be bothered if repeatedly, your battery bank ain't getting filled as expected. No be every diagnosis can be done online.

Either way, what I said still stands, na inverter go draw power wey e need. Not the other way round.

A real life example is laptop chargers. a laptop with recommended charger of 19v 2A , if you use 19v 100A, there would never be issue BUT you see that voltage eh, if you try use 20v 2A , even if the laptop no spoil instantly, the lifespan must drop over time.

Now should you instead use 19v 1A, the charger go struggle to deliver hence e go begin hot or warn. That's because the laptop is trying to draw the needed current which is more than the poor charger can deliver.

In other words, Voltage flows in by it's self, BUT current gets pulled as needed by the connected device / appliance.

Could the installer perhaps didn't install it properly or perhaps I was given an inferior panel?

I'd say you should wait till March to confirm your suspicion... Everything boils down to the direction your panels are facing

You seem to ignore what I said about probability there might be no issue.

Your solar system is likely working perfectly. You do not need to spend extra money or worry now especially if the installer already confirmed all is well.

Solar panels don't force power into your home. Having a 3kW capable solar panels just means that is the maximum they can produce.

They only supply what your house + battery needs at that moment.

The inverter decides how much power to pull from the panels based on how much sun is shining and how much power your load (appliances) need.

Trust the person(s) physically onSite since they got direct access to actual setup. If the technician(s) who installed it says it is fine, trust them.

If your batteries are getting fully charged almost every day—even when weather isn't good enough—your system is doing its job.

Have given examples YET your mind seems be telling you something else. mayBe it's time to spend money if e dey scratch you to spend.

That you not paying for information, doesn't make it any less useful. We can only attempt to help you save money though going by the brands you got there, be like say the money dey for spending.
