Return of subsidy won't be automatic but will depend on what I meet on the ground as return to subsidy is not right" -Atiku Abubakar.

Trust this man at your own risk

Someone who depend on marabout to make decision, just like his boyfriend who seek advice from a mad man. Trust them at your own peril.

Atiku who is a Camerounian wanted Nigeria to subside fuel for the Cameroon that why he wanted subsidy back, by their fruits you shall know them

Atiku is too old and confused. He is not restoring any subsidy but just wanted to desperately win election by deceiving Nigerians

The comment below is what I replied on other guy about this matter. I said even Atiku was just playing politics because even he knows that subsidy had to go. It was no brainer.

"Story, non be only intelligently.

They say it’s madness to keep doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. Anyone—under any pretext—advocating for fuel subsidies in 2026 is bordering on insanity.

The countries we often reference as prosperous do not subsidize fuel. If you argue that those nations are rich with high minimum wages, then what’s your excuse for our poorer neighbors—Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana, Niger? They don’t have fuel subsidies, yet they manage.

Every sensible person knows subsidies must go. Even Atiku knew this—he said so himself in 2023. Yet here he is in 2027, singing a different tune. That’s pure desperation, to the point where his own VP, Amaechi, and his aides are contradicting him. They all know it’s unsustainable.

Atiku is simply playing a gambit (as they say in chess)—exploiting the emotions of vulnerable people to see if he can harness their suffering for votes. It’s not because he’s thought of anything intelligent; it’s just a calculated risk.

So, imagine if he takes this populist gamble and still loses—wouldn’t you expect him to be traumatized?

As to why I referenced obidients like you, it is because you guys are now at a crossroad, do you keep supporting Obi who is yet to support restoring subsidy or now go with Atiku?"

AMINDA, I can see you peeping already. Oya come and explain to us what Atiku is trying to say again. This should be like the tenth version of the same subsidy policy summersault from the ADC in less than two weeks. Una never win una don dey change mouth.
Re: Atiku Backtracks: No More Return To Subsidy Regime by AMINDA: 1:16pm On Aug 30
Old interview but this is a campaign material for Atiku. Thanks for reinforcing his position. You can now see that he had a dedicated plan and had developed and begun to implement a phased method for removal of subsidy without shocks, not the abrupt and dictatorial way Tinubu did it. Even Buhari and Emefiele had plans to phase out subsidy but it was tied to the Dangote refinery coming on-stream and it will be buffered by the naira-for-crude deal. Only for the know-it-all to come and tank the economy.

Keep stalking me from thread to thread and seeing me in the comments of every nairalander who criticises your tin-god. It's becoming an obsession. I hope you do not see me in your nightmares. That's an old interview in 2022, but it's still a positive campaign material for Atiku, even today.

In all fairness, I do not hold anything against Atiku for making the statement. This is politics and the issue at hand is a policy issue and not one bordering on ethnicity or religion, in which case I'd have had a problem with it.

There's no difference between what Atiku is saying and the promises politicians typically make to the electorates in the run-up to elections. He knows Nigerians would be sold to the idea and latches on it to shore up his ratings. It's really what a smart politician would do.

Sadly, one can't mention Gringori and Smart in the same sentence, especially when he has that Floozie and content creator running things for him.

So what will now happen to those who have insulted others about Atiku's initial statement?

Some people are really noobs in politics

You may be right on obi but the drug baron has shown he is brain dead for the past 3 yrs. That means he is not even an option in 2027 compared to obi and Atiku

He is a clown. Nigeria's highest ever crude oil earnings was 68 billion dollars in 2011 with a population of 171 million people. In 2025, Nigeria earned 31 billion dollars from crude oil sales with a population of 234 million people. We are earning less with an increased population.

So tell me, where will the money to pay the subsidy come from? He wants to do like Buhari? Borrowing money to pay subsidies? That will be most insane.
Re: Atiku Backtracks: No More Return To Subsidy Regime by Thedon22: 8:15pm On Aug 30
Acts of desperation. This shows this man is desperate to become president at all costs so keeps changing mouth now and then. Atikunis incompetent. He is a trial and error Presidential contestant. Thank God Onanuga took him to the cleaners. That shows what Tinubu is doing is sound. Non of the major opposition candidates could fault Tinubus policies in substance. They have no alternative policies.
