G100 Summit: ADC, PDP, NDC Propose Four-Year Government Of National Competence. by Penguin2(op): 6:58pm On Aug 31
“He said the proposed government would be anchored on four principles: competence, integrity, national inclusion and fair representation.”

The question now is between Atiku and Obi, who falls into this bracket?
A coalition of six opposition parties has proposed the establishment of a ‘government of national competence’ that would operate for a single four-year transition term ahead of the 2027 general election.

The proposal was made on Monday at a summit of opposition political parties organised by G100 in Abuja.

Political parties represented at the summit were the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Salihu Lukman, former vice-chairman (north-west) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who presented the proposal at the summit, said the proposed government would be anchored on four principles: competence, integrity, national inclusion and fair representation.

The coalition also proposed an enforceable transition charter to ensure that participating parties abide by the agreement.

Under the proposed framework, the coalition would establish a central leadership committee, a publicity and communication committee and a legal committee.

The coalition would also create working groups on democratic renewal, the single-term transition charter, national reforms, opposition unity and the selection of a common presidential candidate.

Lukman said the initiative is not seeking the dissolution of any political party or asking any candidate to withdraw from the 2027 race.

He said the immediate objective is to establish a framework for cooperation before discussions on leadership and candidates.

According to Lukman, G100 was facilitating the process without endorsing any political party or candidate.

He said the goal was to provide Nigerians with a credible alternative government in the 2027 elections.

This is a far better deal than Obi making a promise to Kwankwaso to do only one term. When you enter into alliances in a presidential race, negotiations are made with consideration for your region and not just yourself. I am still of the view that a three-horse race will be the easiest way to defeat Tinubu come 2027.

But you know that this proposal is screaming Obi all over it, right?

Atiku will be pressured to step down.

It’s the turn of the South.

This opposition people and their magomago ways, democracy and party politics is fundamentally based on competition of ideas not on cooperation. Each party should present its campaign manifesto and woo voters on the basis of its ideology/principles

Tinubu is a Southerner. Why does Obi want to truncate the tenure of his fellow Southerner? They both share the same policies, especially on subsidy. Does he just want to be president for the sake of it? Atiku brings an alternative that is at variance with Tinubu and Obi's position so Nigerians now have the liberty of making their choices from a variety of options.

Competence by who? People who lacked Competence all their lives?
They have a ruled before in different capacities? Where was the competenc?
They can't give what they don't have no matter how much they promise.

Most people don't realize Obi can only win if Atiku is in the race. Likewise, Atiku can only stand a chance to win if Obi is in the race. None of them can defeat Tinubu one-on-one.

You're part of the crowd that's pushing Atiku when he should ordinarily have no business in the coming elections.

But no worries, he'll get the usual electoral humiliation that has become his national trademark😊.

Everyone with a brain knows we should hand over this country to Obi based on competence. But some people are allegic to competence, they will confidently argue that Taiye Taiwo is better than Messi and Ronaldo.

Ojukwu contested the 2007 elections under APGA after 8 years of Obasanjo presidency. Obi supported Ojukwu in that election and no Northerner screamed "turn of the North" because zoning is not in the Nigerian constitution. They simply went to the ballot and made their votes count. Atiku has no pact with anybody on zoning. He is merely exercising his democratic right.

It's an insult to mention Obi and competence in the same sentence.

So, have they decided who will lead the Government of opposition parties between Atiku and Peter Obi?

It is not about coming together to just talk and take pictures, they’ve been doing that for the past two years with nothing to show for it. Tell us who is stepping down between Atiku and Obi.

At the bolded.
Exactly my opinion too.
None of the presidential candidates can defeat Tinubu in a two-horse race, no matter the coalition.
But if Obi and Atiku are both in the race, and the election is free and fair, then Obi (not Atiku) fit get luck win.

Where was Obi when Atiku and Obasanjo were delivering prosperity, peace and security to Nigeria with cheap petrol, cheap dollars and less debt burden as well as less tax burden?

Where was Obi after his former protégé kicked him out of their regional APGA party until Atiku rescued him in 2019?

newsbook:
Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano has re-echoed his allegation that his predecessor, Mr Peter Obi demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him for sponsoring his election in 2013.

Obiano and his predecessor, Obi have had a frosty relationship shortly after his swearing in.

Obi has however denied that he demanded for the sum of N7.5billion from Obiano, saying that his problem with him was his (Obiano’s) underperformance.

Obi said if he needed the said sum, he would have simply taken it from the N75billion he left for the Obiano administration at the end of his tenure.

But Governor Obiano while speaking on Wednesday evening at Ezechima Primary School, Onitsha where he inaugurated his reelection campaigns in Onitsha North Council Area, said the clarification became necessary because of the recent accusations against him by the former Governor.

He stated that his predecessor had demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him as funds spent in prosecuting the election on his behalf, but that he refused to pay the money because it was not true.

Obiano said he refused to pay because he strongly believed that public funds should be used for public good, and not to settle godfathers.

These, he said, was the reason they fell apart.

The governor said that another reason he refused to pay the money was because he was aware that enough money was raised for his campaign by his friends and associates, all of which were never accounted for by the former governor.

On the actual sum the former Governor claimed he left behind, Governor Obiano made it clear that he inherited liability of about N127 billion debt from him in contracts awarded and other responsibilities, which he has been religiously undertaking in the spirit of continuity.

He said Obi flagged off several roads even on the day he was leaving office and saddled him with the burden of paying for it, but he assured the people that he has his eyes on the ball and will not allow anything to distract him from fulfilling his promises.

The Chairman of the Governor’s Re-election Campaign Committee, Chief Victor Umeh said APGA as the political spirit of Ndigbo, has in the past three and half years, availed Anambra good governance at its best, reminding the people that the upcoming guber election was not about Willie Obiano but about ensuring that the state remained free from political godfatherism.

A former Central Bank Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo in his speech said that at this time, the State needs a tested hand like Governor Obiano who has the experience and expertise to effectively steer her affairs.

So here's the deal. Let Obi suffocate Tinubu in the South. Atiku will do the same in the North. For all we know, this may actually be the grand plan of the opposition coalition. Obi should ensure he has the machinery in place to resist rigging in the South because no one can rig out Atiku in the North. Attempting to rig in the North is the fastest way to get counted (apologies to Peter Obi).
