They want Nigeria to replicate the credit opportunities in abroad, whereby their citizens could afford basic lifestyles due to credit offer. But, when the same government in Nigeria replicate the same like the NELFUND, they will still lament |

This 2027 elections will be a watershed. While NDC believes in competence, integrity and compassion to win the election so as to work for the country, the APC believes in to buy up everyone's voice and vote so as to re-loot what they have stolen before and even more. Vote wisely |

How many people are gainfully employed in Nigeria or you haven't thought about life after education and repayment plan for the loan? |

Kalashnikov49:Abeg na which kind logic be this? Keep shooting yourself in the foot thinking you are hurting Tinubu. You don't cut off your nose to spite your face. Tinubu will come and go but the beneficiaries of NELFUND is for their lifetime. Your case is like a student who is intentionally failing his subjects thinking he is hurting his teachers |

AVAVictor1:it is far better for the parents to carry that burden than burden young people starting life with loans. Imagine suffering underemployment and you still have to deal with loans on your monthly salary. People will turn down level entry jobs because the moment you pick up the job, you have to start paying back loans and the salary can barely cover your basic needs |

michlins: Your case is like a student who is intentionally failing his subjects thinking he is hurting his teachers Please show me how it will hurt Tinubu if south east excludes themselves from NELFUND? South east is already lagging behind in education and all positive aspects of life only for you to exclude your self from other government benefits just because you don't like the president. |

1vandragon:Those who got total free education got it because during their period Nigeria has less than 100,000 people going to school Less than 6 universities so it is possible for the govt to freed them but now some university has over 40k,20k,10k students NELFUND is the best option. If you graduate and there's no job nobody will deduct money from your account monthly Some Igbo students already collected NELFUND but pretending. I will not be surprised if PBAT wins Obi in some SE states that's when you people will understand if youth truly appreciate NELFUND |

stuffs2002:this is the mistake our policy makers always make. They copy and paste systems built for other places and it doesn't suit our traditional and economic realities. How much is entry level jobs for fresh graduates. How far can it go in a month conservatively now add paying back loans you took for education. Talking about West, they're currently struggling with student debts so much so that it has become part of their politics. People who took the loans are asking for relief and people who didn't are saying it's a disenfranchisement on them who forgo education for other ventures. But that's not my major concern here, it's the lack of employment opportunities for the graduates and the fact that most of our curriculum aren't suited for current world problems making employment more difficult. The whole thing is basically built around political optics and not for the core benefits of the people. If the government is serious about uplifting the masses, let them provide cheap power so that manufacturers will thrive and be able to enploy people who will pay taxes to the government and increase the amount of money government can spend. What happens in the next four years if the current recepients of the loans default and can't pay back? Where will the government get funds to continue such welfare programs? If you look at the whole funding system of the student loans, it's not sustainable. Example is the reallocation of recovered loots from corrupt politicians. What happens if they get smarter and hide their loot better and the source dries out? If you remove politics and apply logic, you will see that this whole thing is built on loose soil |

Hussein035:What has ethnicity got to do with this issue? It just exposes how shallow most of you are, always grasping at straws when you have no meaningful thing to contribute. You say there are more students today, fine. And what about revenue you people are always boasting about? Has it not increased? Or are you tacitly admitting that the acclaimed revenue increase is all smoke and mirrors? And then what do you say about the institutions that are now severely underfunded and cannot meet thier day to day expenses? Last year, the highest capital/overhead release (excluding salaries) to a federal University was 23%. Most got less than 10%. What the government simply did is divert funding for the universities to the student loans. Now, i am not saying the loans should be stopped. But don't Rob Peter to pay Paul and the act as if you have done something extraordinary. |

NELFUND is not meant for all students, it's for those that cannot afford their school fees. Fortunately, Anambra has shown that they're truly rich by not applying for the NELFUND. Why will anyone take a loan to pay school fees when they can afford it? I know many people in the UK that are eligible for study loan but didn't go for it because they want to train their children by themselves without loan. This shouldn't be discussed at all. Let the loan go to people that need it. Govt acting as if they care, if this is a grant now, no one will hear about it. |

This is very funny, " intentionally failing as how? Where is the statistics to show the SE states are failing, where is the statistics to show drop in tertiary enrollment by students from the SE part of the country. Someone online once explained NELFUND as this: You normally get a service for say #10 per demand, another government comes in takes a huge stake in that service company, now provides same services at #40 , but the catch here is that the government provides the financing as loan to be recoup in the future. What changed? Quality of service is not changed , but you are now paying for same services 4 times previous price with the attendant interest rate on the loan. Meanwhile you have some citizens that still want to pay cash out of their pocket and it is hurting you a citizen that they are refusing the loans you signed up for? What is actually wrong with you? Envy that you cannot pay from your pocket or what? stuffs2002: |
