Poverty Pushes Iranian Children Into Hazardous Border Work by BornofGod108(op): 9:46am On Sep 04
Economic hardship and a lack of stable jobs are driving children and teenagers in Iran’s border regions into kolbari, the hazardous practice of carrying goods across mountainous frontiers for money, Iran's labor-focused news agency ILNA reported on Sunday.

“The fact that a teenager sets out on a route where there is a risk of being shot, a mine explosion or an accident, either to help their family or cover school and living expenses, should be a serious warning to society,” labor activist Abdollah Belvasi told ILNA. “A child should be sitting at a school desk, not on a kolbari route.”

Poverty and unstable household incomes are increasingly affecting children in families living along Iran’s borders, Belvasi said.

Instead of their government to use their money to feed them, they will rather spend it on weapons to attack nations, nations that are above them in all ramification.

Ask AI Iran vs Nigeria who poor pass grin

Iranians are generally significantly wealthier and have a higher standard of living than Nigerians, although both nations face notable economic challenges like inflation and heavy reliance on oil revenues. [1, 2]
The World Bank classifies Iran as a developing/emerging upper-middle-income economy, whereas Nigeria is classified as a lower-middle-income economy. While international sanctions and high inflation have put considerable strain on Iranian citizens, their average income, infrastructure, and purchasing power remain substantially higher than those in Nigeria. [1, 3, 4]
------------------------------
## 📊 Economic Breakdown: Iran vs. Nigeria
A direct comparison using data from the [World Bank via GeoRank](https://georank.org/economy/iran/nigeria) and [Worlddata](https://www.worlddata.info/country-comparison.php?country1=IRN&country2=NGA) highlights the structural gap between the two economies: [4, 5]

| Economic Indicator | 🇮🇷 Iran | 🇳🇬 Nigeria | Comparison |
|---|---|---|---|
| Average Annual Income (GNI per capita) | $4,650 | $1,360 | Iran's average income is over 3.4 times higher. |
| GDP per Capita (Nominal) | $3,924 | $1,224 | Iran's per-person economic output is over 3 times higher. |
| GDP per Capita (PPP / Purchasing Power) | $19,874 | $9,087 | Adjusted for the local cost of living, Iranians have more than double the purchasing power. |
| Average Monthly Salary | ~$588 / month | ~$220 / month | Iranian workers earn roughly 2.7 times more on average. |
| Population Below Poverty Line | ~18% | ~70% | Nigeria's extreme poverty rate is vastly higher. |

------------------------------
## 🔍 Key Regional Differences

* Poverty Rates: While many Iranians struggle with a rising cost of living due to geopolitical tensions, severe structural poverty is less widespread. In Nigeria, a recent World Bank report noted that around 139 million people are poor or highly vulnerable to poverty. [6, 7, 8]
* Public Infrastructure & Healthcare: Iran has a much more robust social safety net and public infrastructure system. For instance, public and private healthcare spending per capita in Iran is roughly five times higher ($490 USD) than in Nigeria ($94 USD). [9]
* Shared Economic Pain: Both countries suffer from volatile inflation rates and currency depreciation. In fact, recent regional conflicts involving Iran have directly caused fuel and food prices to spike in Nigeria, compounding economic pressure on low-income Nigerian families. [2, 4, 7]

Which of the world economy that's not struggling now? Aside that, we all know this people have been under sanction for close to 50 years, what do you expect to happen? Credit should be given to them for how they are able to manage their economy and still innovate, build and float their country without collapsing.

Not everyone is a coward like their minions.
They refused to bow and have since domesticate their needs and living within their means..... That's commendable!

actually both Nigeria and iran are poor.

The only good thing about Iran is that they have a better industrial sector and a scientific sector than Nigeria to the point that they can make good enough cars and even refinery components from scratch, , but they are still poor because they rely on oil money alone ( Infact one reason why I don't support sanctions on Iran nuclear ambitions is because the electricity that they would produce from nuclear energy would turbocharger their scientific and industrial base to even higher heights. Plus it is a waste of time trying to stop nuclear bomb development. Once the atom was split it was game over.)

All oil money countries are vulnerable financially. Even big nations like UAE and Saudi. What makes a country rich is the ability to use what they have to make stuff that the world needs. Selling resources makes your economy vulnerable to price shocks which adversely affect revenue and cause borrowing at very high rates. Iran's percapita debt is higher than Nigeria's

Which is what China, Russia , Japan, many European countries, and the USA do essentially. Use what they have to make stuff the world needs. It generates jobs and produces solid levels of income. Solid sustainable levels of income.

Was the Rial doing better before? Was Iran’s economy booming pre-war?

The US debt just got above $40 trillion and all they used it for was dropping bombs. Their bonds are being offloaded and inflation and high energy prices already taking a toll on the economy. Now they messed up in everything and Iran squeezing life out of them.

The US will fold soon. Iran knows they have all the cards.
