higgs:Fixed: the attitude of wickedness, evil and jealousy is common among Africans. Boss, did you read the part where the evil bastard deliberately tampered with his drip and his spilled his blood and asked a staff to come fix it, just so they unknowingly come in contact with his blood infect them with the virus.. |

zoedew:Most Nigerian medical facilities (and that’s probably north of 90%) do not practice medicine properly. And that’s driven by poverty in the country. Order a lab and patients will not return. So many clinicians have resorted to “eye gauge” diagnostics. Put the patient on medication to start extracting revenue from them and “pin” them, before you start finding out what exactly is wrong with them. Not ideal, but medical businesses have to survive and that survival tactics works here. For a high brow medical practice though, I agree with you that First Medical could have done better |

FCMC and Nigerians lost a rare gem, one of the best doctor in Nigeria. May his soul rest in peace. Mr Naptu 2 , I'm on of your follower and I can boldly say following you is the best things that have ever happened to me on Nairaland because I learn a lot from you. I really appreciate your daily posts that full of memories and educative, long may you live in God's name. However you mistaken me for a troll and subsequently blocked me from DIARIES. Please kindly unblock me. I feel uneasy because I have a lot to learn from you by asking questions on daily posts. Looking forward to your response. Thanks in anticipation |

cr7lomo:Just as disastrous as the way they handled subsidy removal. Honestly, the resultant deaths would have been calamitous, while they carried on with their usual diet of lies, falsehoods, and propaganda. |

The Ohiaeris is a dynasty of Medical Doctors from Nwangele local government in Imo state. They should hold the record as the family with the highest number of medical doctors in Nigeria. Most of them have relocated abroad. One of them, Dr. Onyema Ohiaeris, was a very close friend. |

Buhari treathened the that baboon(him) and dog(you) will be soaked in blood if he loses an election. And you think they cant pay already dieing person to do their bidding ? |

zoedew:When a patienc comes to the hospital unwell and after prelim examination they find symptoms of malaria, are they not supposed to treat the malaria while further examination or investigation is being carried out? Are you expecting the hospital to conduct all the whole test at once before admittance of the patient? Do we even have Ebola case in the country prior to this incident? What would you have done differently professionally? |
| Re: Dr Benjamin Ohiaeri Is Dead. by zoedew: 9:08pm On Sep 05 |
Forumobserver12:What I would have done differently is provide immediate care to stabilise the patient and IMMEDIATELY move the fellow to A GOVERNMENT TERTIARY HEALTH FACILITY especially considering his travel history and the fact that the break out of Ebola was not altogether unknown to the medical community. That hospital lacked the clout to have dealt with that matter and paid dearly! |

Someone arrived at the hospital and lied about his travel history and contacts. The hospital commenced investigation and tests showed that the patient had malaria parasite in his system (as he previously said). The hospital began treating the malaria while investigation continued. A few hours later the patient had symptoms that made the doctor suspect that he had ebola. The doctor immediately contacted the closest lab that can carry out the test and sent the samples there. The doctor also ensured that the patient did not leave the hospital. The patient became unruly and deliberately allowed his body fluids to touch the medical personnel. When the tests came back positive for ebola the patient was moved to the Infectious Diseases Hospital (inside Mainland Hospital). All the doctors and nurses that were infected were also moved to the isolation centre at the Infectious Diseases Hospital. Yet someone is here spewing nonsense. |

| Re: Dr Benjamin Ohiaeri Is Dead. by zoedew: 7:34pm On Sep 07 |
LadyNurladi:At the slightest hint that the patient presented was not responding to treatment for Malaria you do not keep him at FMC awaiting a test result considering what was then known about Ebola. That was my drift Sir. Thank you so very much Sir for seeking clarification of my post. |

Someone that tests confirmed had malaria parasite in his system should not have been treated for malaria! Someone that was being unruly and refusing to stay in First Consultant should have been moved to the Infectious Diseases Hospital immediately? Are you for real? Is First Consultant the police or military? You didn't read that it was when the president signed the executive order that they were able to get security help to detain contacts?? Is this bad belle and what type of thinking is this?? |
